I've been playing this gem for ages, and it's almost as good as Armageddon.
It's a rare from Urza's legacy, reprinted only once, plus it's the cheapest, and one of the easiest to use red Armageddon effects ever printed. Yet it's a forgotten, unplayed card commanding a price tag less than $1 usd. All because it has to wait until your upkeep to trigger.
It doesn't take long before there are seven lands, and costing half as much as armageddon is actually often worth giving your opponent a turn to react. This stands out as one of the greatest undiscovered gems from my cube.
I think nine times out of ten I prefer Winter Orb to Impending Disaster, because generally they come down at the same time and perform the same function, but Orb is a little faster at stopping your opponent from casting spells. So if I wanted Disaster I'd want Orb first, but there's no reason you can't have both if you really want them. It's nice with Cosmic Intervention or Teferi's Protection if you got those though.
