This is another card I been thinking about for a while. This card kinda does a few things for me:
- Combos with Intruder Alarm - I'm not sure if I need another Intruder alarm target, but I'll take it.
- We have very few good flicker targets at 2 CMC - pretty much outside of Wall of Omens.
This has some good synergy with Soulherder / Thassa, Deep-Dwelling to reset the exert for Steward to create a creature every turn + produces some early blockers that the flicker deck struggles with early on.
This is actually a huge problem I noticed with my flicker deck and I frequently need to reduce the density of creatures to keep tempo/ go into bant.
- Its not bad with the Pod/Stax sacrifice decks - creates fodder/ exerted creatures are good for sacrifice.
- Similarly, we don't really have good 2 CMC token producers - tokens decks also have a gap at 2 CMC.
This isn't the best card in the world, but it does a few good things to help smooth out the curve for a lot of archetypes that don't have good 2 CMC options.

- Intruder Alarm pushes this over the top for me. Its not big in my cube, but I'm really reluctant to cut combos from my cube.
- I mean for Flicker decks - Flickering an Stoneforge really isn't great - If you already gotten your Jitte, Batterskull, getting another sword is kinda marginal.
Outside of Charming Prince, Wall of Omens, Baleful Strix, Ice-Fang Coatl, I really don't have anything else that is worth flickering that is 2 cmc or less. (Maybe the persist creatures + Devoted Druid to remove counters?) Its really not that great and often I'm only in Blue-White, Jeskai or Bant so Baleful/ Coatl is out of the equation.
Just having +1 flicker target is good.
Like I've mentioned - I'm really not huge on Steward.

As for token makers, Clarion Spirit probably makes more tokens on average, and it makes fliers.
Maybe it's good if Intruder Alarm is a big thing in your cube, I don't know what other cards work with that.
