Waiting two turns to get a spell is a big difference from zero. This delay makes it clearly worse than demonic tutor, but it may not be as big of a difference as is intuitive.
Generally, if I’m comboing off in the early-mid game, I don’t have the extra mana available to demonic tutor on the same turn I combo/cast the spell. In these instances, profane tutor only delays the combo by one turn.
Furthermore, in this scenario, the delay gives some added protection from hand disruption. It telegraphs the spell which is negative, but it may also tax the opponents mana for counter play on a key combo turn.
Demonic tutor is such a powerful effect that there’s room for a noteably worse version to be worth a slot.
I suspect a deck with 2+ premium reanimate spells would rather have a profane tutor than a 3rd lower tier reanimation option. I intend to find out!
My issue with this card is that I don't think this is playable in fair decks. Those decks absolutely can and do cast the spell immediately, and I think they generally don't have time to wait 2 whole turns for the card they want, especially off a topdeck. Looks ok in combo decks like Through the Breach and Reanimator, but I think that's a little narrow imo.

Agreed. Demonic tutor is busted in combo decks and good/great in fair decks.

Could see that being too narrow
I see this around the same level as Grim Tutor, which isn't very commonly cubed. Would only really consider it if you have a larger cube and need more combo support or something.

If you are interested in this card, do you also play Galvanic Relay in your Cube?
I don't support Storm, but I'm curious whether you'd consider it similar since it is also a big setup card for a Combo Deck.

I do not - but at the same time, I haven't test it. More or less because I don't want another card that is only applicable to storm.
I have Polymorph, Persist, Reanimator, Artifact/ Wildfire, Inverter, Intruder Alarm, Dark Depths, Heliod/ Archangel + Spike Feeder, Twin in addition to storm that could all make use of a tutor.

My High Octane Unpowered Cube on CubeCobra
I see this as a fine playable in any combo deck - especially if you plan to hang on and win once it resolves.
I don't think this is that bad in fair decks - especially if the cube is a powered cube with cards like Ancestral Recall to fetch with this.
