I know, I know, GGG. But, of all the efficient GGG beaters we've seen over magic's life, this strikes me as the best. It's a 4/4 trampler for GGG (pretty good on turn 2), dies into a wild growth, then that land can be sacced to make another 4/4 trampler. Is all this value enough to overcome it being just an efficiently costed creature? I think it is.
I think this is substantially better than steel-leaf champion FWIW, and that card so a lot of standard play (although no cube play as far as I know).
I feel like I've definitely seen a couple people mention Steel-Leaf Champion before. I agree that this is better. The mana cost is still off-putting, as you acknowledge, but this is definitely a lot of all-upside text on a 3-drop. I think this is good enough, or at least worth testing.
They keep printing cards in this slot. I can't remember if I'm on Llanowar Tribe or Steel Leaf Champion. Either way, this is generally better, but it's not like it's a change I'll be clamoring for.
It's a powerful card that just won't die. I'm a huge fan of more enchant lands that ramp since I like to play dorky cards like Vizier of Tumbling Sands and Argothian Elder.
