Thrun / Edric hybrid for 4 mana. Uncounterable and indestructible makes this really annoying to deal with permanently, but being a 1/1 means it has very little presence on its own. Wears equipment extremely well. There's a lot more competition at the 4-cmc green creature slot these days, but Edric type effects have an extremely high ceiling.
Uncounterable and indestructible pretty much guarantee that you're going to have the effect in play for a little while, but a 1/1 indestructible creature isn't impossible to remove. Must attack is a major drawback, as the stats would be much more effective on defense. Indestructible also makes him a monster with equipment.
I really like this guy, and not just because Ratatoskr is a favorite of mine. It seems like a swell and powerful card, but top of the all-time pile for four drops... probably not.
Edit: Whoops, looks like I was too slow making the thread. Somebody else made one.
Takes too much work to make this card work. Having to attack if able is a huge drawback on a creature with indestructible since this strips away the defensive value of the keyword. This is an easy pass for me.
I'm a big fan of Edric. You pick him up and say, "okay cool let's get some tokens and disruption and get unstoppable card advantage".
This is a 1/1 for 4 mana - almost feels like more of an enchantment than a creature - and slots into that deck but doesn't really encourage me quite the same way. I think this is exclusively a Commander for people who want to be rewarded for shoving every squirrel-related card in their 100.
I want to hate this card. It's bad, I know it is. How can a 4 mana 1/1 that behaves more like a do-nothing enchantment be playable in vintage cube? But then I see it in action and it draws 3-4 cards minimum in 60% of games or more. What's everybody's take on this? Should I just replace it with Esika's Chariot and trust my instincts?
