Looks like edric died and was re-incarnated into a large snakey boi.
Not sure if good enough, but always thought edric would be insane if mono colored and I would probably play a very slightly worse version of if it were.
is a big 2/6 body, attackers gain deathtouch worth almost 2 extra mana?? Probably not?
But there are some nice interactions with the card in cube (2 power holla), Walking ballista attack PEW PEW PEW etc.
While I agree that I wish my green 5s had power, I am fine that its actually 2 power and not something like 3 or 4 power, so it can still go in lark/alesha shells.
I feel that while its only got 2 power, it may actually push more damage through becuase of the Bow of Nylea passive, and giving green more card advantage never hurts. I like the idea of forcing my opponent to choose between trading my squirrel and their 3 or 4 drop OR letting me draw more cards.
We have a few green token builds that pop up over here, so that might be guiding my opinions of this card, but right now in feeling warm about it
WotC logic never fails to amaze. "We don't want to put extraneous things like the "snow" type on cards unless its a #*now set* -- so let's make patently obvious snow cards and just not put SNOW on them instead because otherwise there's a slippery slope. Not that we ever have to go down said slope but existentially it would exist and that alone is an issue.."
They're literally holding themselves hostage to a buzzword (slippery slope) while walking directly into another one that is just as bad if not worse (striking the unhappy compromise)
What is your actual complaint here? That this snow creature somehow shouldn't be snow?
Or you don't like the fact that this card is snow but that other recent cards that obviously could be 'Snow' but somehow weren't?
Or is it just the overall inconsistency itself between various sets? I'll allow there definitely is inconsistency there but I'll just as quickly argue it is 100% justified and wise to do this.
Uhhh I think this is definitely better than ohran viper
Yeah, I don't completely get that either. Not saying the new cold snek is the bee's knees, but Ohran Viper is not a very good card, while this is providing quite a unique pair of abilities to all your creatures.
I'd imagine that I would cube OG Ohran Viper before Frostfang due to their converted mana costs, competition, and how my cube would scale at larger sizes where I would probably add more 3-drops than 5-drops.

This. But my interest in either card is pretty much zero.

Frostfang has a much higher ceiling but depends on your board state (and then your opponent's board state as well) for it to typically reach that ceiling. Otherwise, he's a 5-mana 2/ 6 (at least on your turn). I just like Viper as a stand-along threat.
To be honest, it's probably a bit of a waste of time to compare them at all. While one is obv a riff on the other one, flavor-wise, they really are completely different cards and have very different roles to play in whatever deck wants to run them. One is a midrange aggro/tempo (slightly outclassed these days) and the other is more of a go-wide/aggro/top-of-curve finisher.
I also definitely hate the art, if such things matter at all. I can't believe someone approved this ridiculous thing.

This rewards going wide, but I'd rather actually just go wide with the other 5-cmc green creatures. Much higher floors, and still very high ceilings.

Strong pass for me, honestly.
Not seeing much of anything I'm interested in from C19, honestly. Still working through the deck lists though.
