I may be a tad early on this, but we have all of the mythics and rares and 75% of the uncommons so I'm going to go ahead and get this ball rolling. Below are the cards I'll be testing.
White:
-Winds of Abandon: Spot removal/sweeper are two sweet modes to have on one card. The downside is real but I think this has a decent chance to beat out Declaration in Stone.
-Serra The Benevolent: Serra Angel+ for 4 mana is crazy efficient. Not sure what I'll be cutting but this Walker is going to have her chance to shine in my cube.
-Giver of Runes: Not sure she'll earn a long term slot but "step-mom" seems easily good enough to try.
Black:
-Yawgmoth, Thran Physician: This guy does so much and I can't wait to see him in action. Aristocrats, tokens, and Recurring Nightmare decks weep for joy.
-Plague Engineer: I think this card is going to be a solid workhorse. Excited to try it out.
Green:
-Deep Forest Hermit: I don't care for two functional copies of the same green 5 drop so I'll be slotting this in over good ol' Deranged Hermit.
-Hexdrinker: I think this stands to be one of the strongest green creatures in cube. Wooo!
Colorless:
-All five enemy Talismans will be coming in along with the original allied Talismans.
-Sword of Truth and Justice: Probably replacing Sword of War and Peace for a trial run. I think it's great but I could also see it being one of the weaker swords.
-Sword of Sinew and Steel: Cutting a non-sword artifact so I'll have 6 x/y swords. I think this one is going to be pretty strong in cube.
Lands:
-Prismatic Vista: The 11th fetch! This card rules.
-All 5 enemy "Horizon Lands" will be replacing the enemy colored pain lands I currently run. My 5 cycles will be: OG Duals/Shocks/Fetches/Manlands/Horizon Lands with Cycling Duals in the color combinations that don't have Horizon lands available.
Gold: Wrenn and Six: I suspect this card is going to be very good in every format that can play it. Cube will be no exception. Nature's Chant: Replacing Disenchant.
Here are a few cards I'm on the fence about: Ranger Captain of Eos: There are a lot of good one drops this guy can get but he does seem a bit safe. Likely a pass. Goblin Engineer: The more I think about this card, the more I like it, but I'm not sure the effect is needed in my cube. Still uncertain. Echo of Eons: If I ever try out that Narset/Leovold package I'll probably try this too. It's probably good enough on it's own either way but I don't like a Time Spiral that leaves you tapped out. Goblin Oriflame: I like this card but whether or not I test it depends on space I can create in my red section. TBD. Soul Herder: I know it can't crack Azorious purely on power level, but I love the idea of a signpost for blink and this card is synergizes with like 1/3 of the creatures in my cube.
That's 25 cards that I'm definitely testing with a couple more likely to find there way in as well. I expect the lands and Talismans in particular to be huge quality of life improvements that will impact every draft. This is easily the best cube set of all time!
WHITE
- Giver of Runes
- Winds of Abandon
- Serra, the Benevolent
BLUE
- Echo of Eons (maybe)
- Urza, Lord High Artificer
BLACK
- Plague Engineer
- Yawgmoth, Thran Physician
RED
- Orcish Oriflamme (maybe)
- Seasoned Pyromancer
GREEN
- Hexdrinker
- Deepforest Hermit
OTHER
- Wren and Six
- Prismatic Vista
- Enemy Canopies
- Enemy Talismans
- Sword of Sinew and Steel
- Sword of Truth and Justice
That's 27 cards, yowza. Besides ABU, this is definitely the best set for cube. Will also be making a lot of non-MH1 changes to try and shake things up a bit with different sub-themes. This is going to be a huge cube update!
This is a HUGE update. And I'm gonna have fun going through older cards to figure out what gets a new bump (e.g. Deathrite Shaman may be coming back in). If I put a * next to something, it means I'm confident it will be in my cube for a long long time.
WHITE
nothing I'm huge on, so idk if I'm going to test them, but I have my eyes on the following:
Serra, the Benevolent
Ranger, Captain of Eos
Force of Virtue
Giver of Ruins
Winds of Abandon
BLUE
Urza, Lord High Artificer * --- cutting Whirler Rogue.
Echo of Eons --- I have no clue what to cut, but I definitely want to test this card.
Bazaar Trademage --- Probably gonna test over Champion of Witts. So many call this card disadvantage, but a 3/4 body is worth more than a card. It might be worse than I expect, but I like this card quite a bit and want to try it out. Plus there's lots of new flashback goodies if we want them.
BLACK
Yawgmoth, Thran Physician * --- No clue what to cut yet, but SLAMMING this in.
RED
Seasoned Pyromancer --- Might be time for Squee to go, even though they work so well together.
GREEN
Deep Forest Hermit * --- Probably cutting Wolfir Silverheart. I love that card, but this one is just better.
Hexdrinker * --- I don't support Green Aggro, but this fits my rule for powerful card that requires some hoops for it to be uninteractable (why I don't play boring old Thrunn). Easiest cut is Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma. However I like that card for the fires archetype, so I may look to cut something else such as Yavimaya Elder, which always just feels too clunky.
MULICOLOR
Wrenn and Six --- I really like Huntmaster, Rhythm of the Wild, and Orcish Lumberjack. Unsure which I will cut though but I want to test this out. If I didn't support Pod it would probably be Huntmaster, as Rhythm is an important roleplayer and Lumberjack is powerful and very good with Wrenn. But Huntmaster is a fantastic pod card, so I'm torn. BBE and Atarka can't be touched.
OTHER
Prismatic Vista *
Canopy Lands *
Both Swords --- testing over other swords to not throw the balance off.
Lesser Manticore
SNOW PACKAGE: debating adding the snow package. If I do, I will play these cards.
Frostwalk Bastion --- Over field of ruin
Icehide Golem --- unsure what to cut
Ice-Fang Coatl --- over coiling oracle
On Thin Ice --- over either Journey to nowhere or Declaration in stone.
THE TALISMANS:
I'm unsure if I'm going to add them. I currently don't play signets, and I don't want to. I have wanted 1-2 more mana rocks for a while but don't like only playing a couple of the Talismans. I'm debating cutting a lot of the meh ones (e.g. Thought Vessel) to make room for the Talismans without a huge restructuring of my environment.
This has been the biggest set my Cube has ever seen, including ABU cards.
W Winds of Abandon - I am curious to see how this card plays out. My immediate reaction is that this card is not as good as it looks. I have seen people comparing it to Cyclonic Rift and I think that is not a fair comparison by any means. There is a difference between something answering hard to answer permanents and creatures, a card type where there is more than enough playable removal. That being said, I can see this card's ability to be completely one-sides, as a powerful play. I have lower expectations for this card, but I also had low expectations for Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord, and that far exceeded my expectations. Going to replace Settle the Wreckage for now.
U Urza, Lord High Artificer - Urza has been proxied in my Cube for a bit now, I took out Opposition for him. He has done some crazy stuff in the few times he has been drafted. I think the only rough part is when you are not just hitting lands, but also hitting spells that are reactive in nature, like Mana Drain or something. Multiple activation whiffs have certainly gotten some groans out of players.
B Yawgmoth, Thran Physician - Definitely slotting into the 540 module. Going to start with testing it in 450 to see if he does what I want. I was pretty vocal about him not being right for 360 in my eyes. So if you want to know more and have not checked out the thread, you can go do that. I am going to cut Brutal Hordechief for him. I like the Hordechief, but I don't feel he is all that necessary to help push my aggro decks to where I want them.
R Seasoned Pyromancer - We have already been testing this card as well, and I love it. Great for aggressive builds just wanting to filter cards and apply pressure. Great as a discard outlet for decks trying to cheat creatures (or artifacts) into play. The group has been really happy with this addition so far. I cut Sin Prodder for him, but I do miss the red confidant...
G Force of Vigor - 'Free' outs to artifacts is appealing to me, especially in a color that is always looking to tap all of its mana on its own turn. This addition was scouted to help try and offset any Urza tricks, mainly, but it also gets a lot of value for the 'free' price. I am not sure what to cut, but it will likely be Farseek. The ramp I run tends to be artifacts or things like Fastbond and Extraplanar Lense effects. Farseek has just been kind of a random inclusion these days.
Deep Forest Hermit - I am not sure I would call this a strictly better version of Deranged Hermit, but it certainly looks more appealing in various ways. I want to get in more blink effects, because I definitely think it can be abused far better than DH can. So I will likely just do a direct swap.
Hexdrinker - I love how aggressive this card is. Dropping Magus of the Candelabra for it. No particular reason, but I figure if I want to push an aggressive green card, I can remove a ramp effect for it to try and hedge drafts in the other direction.
Wren and Six - I will be working in more for Wildfire decks moving forward. This card seem useful and I hope it gets more people excited to jump into more of a lands matter theme. I will be cutting the beloved Domri Rade.
Sword of Truth and Justice - Really excited for this sward. It can be so nasty and aggressive. Beers will be had the first time it is stuck to a True-Name Nemesis! No idea what I am cutting yet.
Sword of Sinew and Steel - This sword seems bonkers in my powered cube. I tend to lean into planeswalkers a good amount, and recurring removal with some of the best protections seems completely absurd. No idea what I am cutting yet.
Talismans - Directly replacing Signets.
Horizon Lands - I originally was not going to run these, but I have grown fairly excited about them lately. As much as I love the manlands, I think it will be a fresh take to Cube without them for a while and see how things go.
Prismatic Vista - I quickly expect this to be one of the most drafted and played lands. What a sweet fetch! Just dropping Evolving Wilds for it.
This set also has me rethinking a few design changes. I am encouraged to test other cards from other sets and revisit some Cube classics because of it. In addition to the large amounts of Testing and Include cards, this set has been a really historic set for Cube and it has been an absolute pleasure to be here on MTGS with all of you to discuss it!

LEGACY|UWStonebladeCOMMANDER|UBGThe Mimeoplsm Ooze & Aghhs!MODERN|UWAzorius Control THE JUICE[BOX]³ CUBE
In Deep Forest Hermit - Staple. Will be tough to make the cut for this, but its 100% worth doing. Hexdrinker - Scales throughout the game. A 1 drop that can win the game by itself is a definite include. Nature's Chant - It is so nice to have this card. Disenchant is a necessary evil in cube and making the card more accessible makes it a lesser evil. Also, just really nice to have a common make the cut. Can't remember how long it has been since that happened.
Prismatic Vista - Incredible. Staple. Nothing more to say.
Horizon Lands - These too are incredible. I'm cutting my checklands to run the 6 of these and finding temporary placeholders for the 4 unrepresented guilds until the horizon lands are available there too.
Testing Force of Virtue - Very tough card to evaluate until it has gotten some play. Has potential. Serra the Benevolent - Great card for an impossible slot. This has to jump Elspeth and Gideon and I don't think it does, but it is so close. Winds of Abandon - Settle the Wreckage is great and this removes the attacking restriction and has a single target mode. I think this will make it, but need to test.
Seasoned Pyromancer - Looks to be great value. Will have to see if the rummaging clause is too problematic.
Urza, Lord High Artificer- I'm less sold on this than others, but I also don't run the most robust artifact package in my cube either. I think powered cubes or cubes with a heavier artifact theme get way more value than this will provide in my cube, but if I get one I'll definitely give it a run.
Watching Plague Engineer - Sticks it to tokens really hard and black 3 drops are lacking. Maybe this gets there? Yawgmoth, Thran Physician - I think this card is severely over-hyped. The body is meh, pro-human is better in some cubes than others (only so-so in mine) and I'm not sure more life loss cards is what black wants. For 1 mana more you get Bontu which has a much better body, relevant combat abilities, lets you sacrifice without paying life and recurs itself. Soulherder - I love blink, but it has been lacking in quality support cards and this is the best one I have seen in a long while. If this were a rare and said permanent and not just creature I would've snap included it. Bazaar Trademage - I have cooled on this a bit since the card disadvantage is problematic and may turn out to be a drawback that is just as bad or worse than Serendib Efreet. It's also card selection though so maybe it is just fine.
So about 14 cards I'm very interested in and a couple more that I'm watching. This set is fantastic and is going to make me spend hours figuring out how to reconfigure my cube...lol.
This set looks great and there are a couple of amazing inclusions, but by my reading a lot of them miss out on my 360 powered cube just due to size (they would be slam dunks at say, 540). http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/118426
BLACK Plague Engineer is definitely going in as a good, versatile hate-Ogre.
I like Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, but I don't have space for an Aristocrats package and he's a little durdly without that archetype to support.
RED
Will keep an eye out for Goblin Engineer but nothing else really excites me.
GREEN Hexdrinker will be a definite addition! I don't support Green Aggro but this is very versatile. I recently cut Thrun, the Last Troll for Bramble Sovereign and I think Hexdrinker will have a mode similar to Thrun that I won't miss it too much. Deep Forest Hermit is also a definite - I will run it alongside Deranged Hermit, but will assess if that's too much with testing. Excited for Squirrels, though.
MULTICOLOUR
Unfortunately space constraints prevent me from adding the Horizon lands or the enemy Talismans.
I will play Wrenn and Six as my 3rd Gruul card, hoping that it will be good enough without a dedicated Lands Matter package. It seems like good fun value with fetches, Strip Mine/Wasteland and the like. Will cut Ancient Grudge.
I will also run Nature's Chant in Selesnya - the discussion in the MTGS thread was interesting! Will cut Mirari's Wake for this - it wasn't seeing a huge amount of play. I will also cut Disenchant from white.
COLOURLESS Prismatic Vista is the best card of the set. Wondering if I should cut Terramorphic Expanse or one of my other cube cards.
Unfortunately I don't think the Swords are quite good enough. I'm only running 3 at the moment, but will keep an eye out how the others test.
SNOW
Too much effort to support. The Ice-amaru was the biggest draw, but nothing else too huge.
Best cube set EVER!!!! I read in a mark rosewater design article that they had cube as one of the target markets when designing this set.
Not only did this mean we got a bunch of great cards in this set, but I anticipate more going forward!
I don't think I've given out an "auto-include" rating to a card in a while that wasn't a strictly better card already in cube. This set has a dozen!!!
Ranked by the likelyhood they will stick around for a year+
100%+
Hexdrinker
Urza, Lord high artificer
Seasoned Pyromancer
Wrenn and six
Horizon Canopy lands
Prismatic Vista
Nature's Chant
Deep forest hermit
25-50%
Plague Engineer
Force of Negation
Sword of sinew and steel
Sword of truth and justice
Echo of aeons
Giver of runes
10%-
Force of Virtue
Archmage's Charm
Defile
Kaya's Guile
Cards I may test eventually:
Serra, The benevolent
Mist sindicate naga
Shenanagins
Watcher for tomorrow
Arcum's Astrolabe
Lesser manticore
Soul herder
Dead of winter
ranger, captain of eos
Force of vigor
Scale up
Lightning skelemental
Everdream
Vesperlark
540 powered. I also took this insane set as an opportunity to drastically change my Cube. I added black aggro and green aggro! I haven't used them in a few years. I also cut the Conspiracy cards. They have been a blast and I love Worldknit as my favorite Cube card but it was just too much. The color bleeding was the main reason I did it.
Between the major changes and additions there are SIXTY TWO cards in the Cube that weren't there a few weeks ago. By far the biggest change I've ever made in the Cube. Anyway, here is what I'm doing:
MH1 Prerelease rankings
In:
Prismatic Vista for Baral's Expertise
Enemy guild Horizon Canopies for "OGW" lands
Hexdrinker for Garruk, Primal Hunter
Winds of Abandon for Go To Jail
Deep Forest Hermit for Nissa, Vital Force
Sword of Sinew and Steel for Pyroclasm
Yawgmoth, Thran Physician for 5 drop Teferi
Wrenn and Six for Volatile Chimera
Sword of Truth and Justice for Sword of War and Peace
Springbloom Druid for Harrow
Nature's Chant for Brightling
Shenanigans for Smash to Smithereens
Will test:
Kess, Dissident Mage
Goblin Oriflamme
Plague Engineer
Serra the Benevolent
Orcish Hellraiser
Urza, Lord High Artificer
Giver of Runes
Soulherder x
Bazaar Trademage
Seasoned Pyromancer
Force of Negation
Interesting but likely won't test:
Ranger-Captain of Eos
Force of Virtue
Fallen Shinobi
"Snow Package": should we switch to snow basics?
Ice-Fang Coatl
Dead of Winter
On Thin Ice
Icehide Golem
Frostwalk Bastion
Very small testing session (2 cubes, 6 people) preliminary impression.
Ice-Fang Coatl / Snow basics
I'm currently testing with the house rule, basic land = snow lands and so far this seems like an easy change. My cube group is full of experienced players and a pretty consistent stable, so I have a feeling it won't cause too much confusion. Everyone seemed happy with this at the first draft.
I played this card in a sultai value deck and it felt incredible. To make good use of the body I had the scarab god, drana , edric and Meren. I had a mana leak and some instant speed things to do to leave up the mana for. My mana base was 50% non basics, which felt like a lot to turn on deathtouch, but in this grindy deck, death touch in the mid-late game felt somewhat trivial. It truly felt like a simic baleful strix.
Honestly, after playing with it a bit I think it's good enough to test even without the deathtouch.
A flying cantripping chump blocker that can screw up combat math when cast at instant speed is a pretty great card... I'd be happy to play that card assuming you can make decent use of the body some how. (Edric, opposition, skull clump, anthems, birthing pod etc)
Hexdrinker
I somewhat forced a RG agro deck taking this card a bit too early. Didn't really get to do anything fun, but I felt it's power quickly. Both times I cast it, it was answered. However, neither time did it require any significant investment from me and both board states it would have won the game single handedly had the opponent not had an answer immediately.
Seasoned Pyromancer
Happened to see this card the most today. Had it in my RG agro and saw it in a Grixis Artifact reanimator deck.
I believe this card is as good as it looks if not better. In my agro decks the bodies and the flashback were relevant to insure I had creatures on the battlefield for my multiple pieces of equipment. Unfortunately HAVING to discard 2 cards was a bit annoying in the early-mid game a couple times. I didn't want to pitch good burn spells to get the 1/1 bodies and the lands had clear uses such that rummaging didn't have much value.
Overall struck me as a decent playable in agro, but it's not the archetype it shines in.
In the grixis artifact reanimator deck it was AMAZING. It blocked very well, it was a discard outlet, it managed to draw 2 when hellbent once... It provided multiple disposable bodies for recurring nightmare.
The 3RR instant speed graveyard ability was relevant more times than I thought it would be in both decks.
Sword of sinew and steel
Sword of truth and justice
Both cards rode sideboards, and never got brought in. Bad luck in aligning with match ups where the protection wouldn't have been great. Inconclusive testing.
Plague Engineer
Saw it in a Esper control deck against a white agro deck and my RG agro deck... It seemed completely oppressive against the white agro deck and great against my red deck. If this card doesn't stick it'll be it's be because it's simply too good against decks that are already lower tier, while being bad against many of the unfair decks that are higher tier... There's no doubt in my mind this is an extremely powerful card against creature strategies, even with a diversity of creatures types. I expect it to see modern and legacy play.
Even in matchups where it's not great, like UW control, naming a creature type like monk/soldier can single handedly shut down elspeth or monastery mentor until it's removed. Artifact decks have thopters/servos.
So it'll rarely be dead.
Lots of cards I want to try out. These are the ones I managed to find cuts for. Might not stick and others might find a way in, IDK. Crazy set.
White: Giver of Runes, Serra the Benevolent, Winds of Abandon
Blue: Urza, Lord High Artificer
Black: Plague Engineer, Yawgmoth, Thran Physician
Green: Hexdrinker, Deep Forest Druid
Multicolour: Nature's Chant
Colourless: Sword of Truth and Justice, Prismatic Vista, canopylands
This set is the most expensive cube upgrade so far. Wizards has figured out how to get our money. Get ready for Horizons 2 and 3...
450 unpowered:
Definites
- 5 Horizon Land
- Prismatic Vista
- Hexdrinker
- Nature’s Chant (for Disenchant)
- Deep Forest Hermit (for Deranged?)
- Winds of Abandon (for Journey to Nowhere)
Maybe
- Urza (partly because it is too expensive)
For Artifact Cube
- Goblin engineer
- Lesser Masticore (test)
- Scrap Recombiner
- Sword of Truth and Justice
- Sword of Steel and Sinew
- Collector Ouphe
-No plans for Urza here because I just don't see there being a high enough density of artifacts to be consistently worth it. If I manage to score a 2nd cheap copy, maybe I'll try him out. No plans currently though.
-Cheating a bit on Nature's Call. I don't really want to push anything out of my Selesnya right now, so it'll go in white instead.
-Replacing Welders with Goblin Engineer as the new 3x/anchor guy in red. It's definitely a power-down but it should makes red (and Izzet/Rakdos) quite a bit less oppressive, I think. The Entomb aspect should lend itself to additional strategies there.
-I've never really liked the Talismans but everyone here seems to speak so highly of them, I'll give them a whirl. I certainly do like the way these promote and colors as a secondary concern, as a nice flavor-nod (and a way to differentiate the draft/gameplay patterns a bit.)
-Pretty much same on all the Horizon lands. They're great but I don't really play w/them now and I'm certainly not paying the current prices for them. I will probably try them out if they come down significantly--it would be hard to find cuts here, tbh. I like my current manabase just fine.
-I think the two newswords are SO VERY good in this cube--certainly better than the two they are replacing. Suffice to say, I'm really excited to see the rest of them now. If I could run a 5/5 split between my two cubes, that would be about the most sublime thing I can think of.
-Force of Despair is a nice removal spell that serves double-duty as a boardwipe for tokens.
-I'm laughing as I write this but I'm probably the most nervous about Collector Ouphe. Urza will often be 'broken-hilarious' but Ouphe might be 'broken-miserable'. That's not what I'm really after but we'll see how it goes..
While this may not be a timely update, it definitely is a big one. Unfortunately, the cost of many of the singles may mean that this set is incorporated over time, but maybe I'll get lucky with my sealed box. For my 495 unpowered, I ended up at:
This might be off topic to the discussion, but the hybrid conversation in the other thread brought it to mind.
Cythare, thoughts on keeping the Tattermunge Maniac in, but as a green 1 drop and getting rid of Jungle Lion instead?
Even if it's not pretty on a spreadsheet, I think there is merit since you support both red and green aggro.
I'm a hybrid purist, so can't abide Tattermunge Maniac sneaking in there. Also, I like "can't intercept" more than "has to attack", and don't feel as bad about red aggro losing the 1-drop out of Gruul.
EDIT: Also, Jungle Lion is helping Natural Order make sure that introductory Portal sets get repped in my cube, so there is that.
Pity so many cards are insanely out of my price range
This for me as well. I live in the US with a minimum wage job and a tight budget. I wish I could order the cards I want from every new set like a lot of people do, but it's just not possible. You're not alone.

My sad story about this, for three years now, building my cube has been an ongoing project of collecting cards, always feeling anxious that it wasn't quite "complete". While that drove me to continue updates, each set always brings some pricey cards and playing catch up was just a reality for me. Well, after a promotion at work, I finally was able to drop some money on the final push to catch my cube up. That final push was right before this set so now I'm back to the catch up board. Neither of you are alone!
EDIT: You know what, now that I'm here, I just want to sincerely thank everyone for all of their discussion and help through my cube designing experience. I will always talk about discussions on "the cube forums" with my group, and I'm actually really sad to see this community go. It's rich and vibrant and I'm here every half an hour during spoiler season. This will be the last "inclusions and testing" thread we will participate in on MTGS, and what a fitting set to go out with. Happy cubing to all of you, and I hope if this community finds a home elsewhere, I hope I stumble upon it like I did this one.
I think most people plays catch-up with their cube - that really is part of the beauty with cube, it is ever ongoing. I've decided only to purchase foils of new cards going in the cube to avoid having to purchase the foiled versions later, this would put me back more than a grand at the current prices - so this condition will probably have to be dropped for this particular set. I do feel sorry for guys like wtwlf, though. However, I do think prices of some of these cards will go down - at least where I look, it is mainly the big sellers doing the presales, when people start opening boxes like crazy the prices on most cards will come down. Also, waiting a few months (years!) after sets come out is usually a prudent choice - cards that people think will stay often turn out to be subpar when actually played.

Blue:
-Urza, Lord High Artificer: Big fat duh. Either The Antiquities War or Whirler Rogue will be benched to give Urza a shot.
-Mist-Syndicate Naga: I'm higher on this card than most, but I adore blue tempo and this card perfectly embodies the blue tempo plan. Maybe I'm wrong about it. We'll see!
Black:
-Yawgmoth, Thran Physician: This guy does so much and I can't wait to see him in action. Aristocrats, tokens, and Recurring Nightmare decks weep for joy.
-Plague Engineer: I think this card is going to be a solid workhorse. Excited to try it out.
Red:
-Shenanigans: Based on the high evaluations from some users here I'm going to try this out over Release the Gremlins.
-Seasoned Pyromancer: Testing over Pia Nalaar and I think he'll do well.
Green:
-Deep Forest Hermit: I don't care for two functional copies of the same green 5 drop so I'll be slotting this in over good ol' Deranged Hermit.

Gold:
Wrenn and Six: I suspect this card is going to be very good in every format that can play it. Cube will be no exception.
Nature's Chant: Replacing Disenchant.
Here are a few cards I'm on the fence about:
Ranger Captain of Eos: There are a lot of good one drops this guy can get but he does seem a bit safe.
- Giver of Runes
- Winds of Abandon
- Serra, the Benevolent
BLUE
- Echo of Eons (maybe)
- Urza, Lord High Artificer
BLACK
- Plague Engineer
- Yawgmoth, Thran Physician
RED
- Orcish Oriflamme (maybe)
- Seasoned Pyromancer
GREEN
- Hexdrinker
- Deepforest Hermit
OTHER
- Wren and Six
- Prismatic Vista
- Enemy Canopies
- Enemy Talismans
- Sword of Sinew and Steel
- Sword of Truth and Justice
That's 27 cards, yowza. Besides ABU, this is definitely the best set for cube. Will also be making a lot of non-MH1 changes to try and shake things up a bit with different sub-themes. This is going to be a huge cube update!
My High Octane Unpowered Cube on CubeCobra
WHITE
nothing I'm huge on, so idk if I'm going to test them, but I have my eyes on the following:
BLUE
BLACK
RED
GREEN
MULICOLOR
OTHER
SNOW PACKAGE: debating adding the snow package. If I do, I will play these cards.

W
Winds of Abandon - I am curious to see how this card plays out.
U
Urza, Lord High Artificer - Urza has been proxied in my Cube for a bit now, I took out Opposition for him. He has done some crazy stuff in the few times he has been drafted. I think the only rough part is when you are not just hitting lands, but also hitting spells that are reactive in nature, like Mana Drain or something. Multiple activation whiffs have certainly gotten some groans out of players.
B
Yawgmoth, Thran Physician - Definitely slotting into the 540 module.
R
Seasoned Pyromancer - We have already been testing this card as well, and I love it. Great for aggressive builds just wanting to filter cards and apply pressure. Great as a discard outlet for decks trying to cheat creatures (or artifacts) into play. The group has been really happy with this addition so far. I cut Sin Prodder for him, but I do miss the red confidant...
G
Force of Vigor - 'Free' outs to artifacts is appealing to me, especially in a color that is always looking to tap all of its mana on its own turn.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This set also has me rethinking a few design changes. I am encouraged to test other cards from other sets and revisit some Cube classics because of it. In addition to the large amounts of Testing and Include cards, this set has been a really historic set for Cube and it has been an absolute pleasure to be here on MTGS with all of you to discuss it!
THE JUICE[BOX]³ CUBE
Deep Forest Hermit - Staple.
Testing
Force of Virtue - Very tough card to evaluate until it has gotten some play.
Watching
Plague Engineer - Sticks it to tokens really hard and black 3 drops are lacking.
WHITE
No surefire inclusions, but will watch Giver of Runes and Serra the Benevolent.
BLUE
I like Urza, Lord High Artificer, but space is tight. Will keep an eye out and see if he's better than God-Eternal Kefnet.
BLACK
Plague Engineer is definitely going in as a good, versatile hate-Ogre.
I like Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, but I don't have space for an Aristocrats package and he's a little durdly without that archetype to support.
RED
Will keep an eye out for Goblin Engineer but nothing else really excites me.
GREEN
Hexdrinker will be a definite addition!
COLOURLESS
Prismatic Vista is the best card of the set.
So, in summary:
Disenchant > Glory-Bound Initiate
Sinkhole > Plague Engineer
Vivien's Arkbow > Hexdrinker
Nissa, Worldwaker > Deep Forest Hermit
Ancient Grudge > Wrenn and Six
Mirari's Wake > Nature's Chant
Terramorphic Expanse > Prismatic Vista
Not only did this mean we got a bunch of great cards in this set, but I anticipate more going forward!
I don't think I've given out an "auto-include" rating to a card in a while that wasn't a strictly better card already in cube. This set has a dozen!!!
Ranked by the likelyhood they will stick around for a year+

My 540 card Powered Cube last updated March 2022

+Sword of Truth and Justice - Sword of Light and Shadow: Decided to just keep 5 Swords total, that's plenty for me at 540. The top 5 make the cut, so I'm cutting the worst two from the original cycle (in my opinion) to give the new ones a test.
+Sword of Sinew and Steel - Sword of War and Peace
+Prismatic Vista - Meteor Golem

-No plans for Urza here because I just don't see there being a high enough density of artifacts to be consistently worth it. If I manage to score a 2nd cheap copy, maybe I'll try him out. No plans currently though.
-Cheating a bit on Nature's Call. I don't really want to push anything out of my Selesnya right now, so it'll go in white instead.
Artificer's Cube/540:
+ Nature's Chant - Disenchant

+ Talisman of Conviction - Boros Signet
-I think the two new swords are SO VERY good in this cube--certainly better than the two they are replacing.

Cythare, thoughts on keeping the Tattermunge Maniac in, but as a green 1 drop and getting rid of Jungle Lion instead?
Even if it's not pretty on a spreadsheet, I think there is merit since you support both red and green aggro.
Other than that looks good

Well, not sure what your budget is, but prices are starting to come down really quickly.
Also, have you seen the art series cards? Not sure what you would do with them, but cube being so casual, you could use them as filler if needed.
