It doesn't seem great. If you play it turn 1, you don't get to use it until turn 4. The good accelerators in cube let you play a 4 drop on turn 3 (signets, elves, mind stone) or a 6 drop turn 4 (coalition relic, worn powerstone). Getting to 5 mana on turn 4 is worse than the 2-mana rocks, and this is a worse top deck, too.
I could see this being useful in one of two scenarios: You support storm combo and want to have the ramp plus the free spell count; OR you play a grindy/midrangey unpowered cube that wants repeatable mana sources that come online in the mid/late game. But for powered cubes that have moxes and Signets and stuff available, this feels like it falls short.
Seems about on par with Lotus Bloom, which didn't do enough for us.
I mentioned this in the Rumor Mill thread, but might as well mention it here since LB was brought up.
The difference between having access to 5 mana on turn 4 and 7 mana on turn 4, is remarkable. I don't see a world in which they are even remotely on the same level. But I agree, that Lotus Bloom isn't the greatest in Cube already and that makes this card seem quite unplayable.

That does describe my cube, but I still have zero interest in this. In an environment like that, you'd rather just play a more typical mana rock like Worn Powerstone, Coldsteel Heart, or Chromatic Lantern. In your opening hand, this is a little better than those, but nobody wants to draw this on turn three.
This does not excite me. There are lots of 2 mana rocks which practically cost 1 that ramps you next turn. This is much worse as you will ramp 3 turns later.
If your cube has a use for Lotus Bloom, this can go along that.
I don't want to open a new thread, but what are peoples thoughts on Sol Talisman.
I have storm in my cube, reanimator, polymorph, ramp, artifact.dec for my cube.
I find a lot of decks don't have enough to do on turn 1 - I would like to give this card a try.
What are people's thoughts on this?

I'm actively maintaining a comprehensive article to help explain to new cube players how some complex vintage level cards work in a cube environment. Vintage Cube Cards Explained
I'm pretty sure it's just bad. Fast mana is good because it's fast, ie it represents extra mana early. Mox Tantalite and Sol Talisman (and by extension Lotus Bloom, but that is at the very least the most breakable of the three) don't represent extra mana early. And for every situation where they're alright, there's a bunch more where you topdeck them on turn 5 and they're more dead than a basic land. If you want to try it then by all means go for it, with that said I'm pretty sure these are super slow on turn 1, and only get worse as the game progresses.
