Aggro seems to be getting more spell-heavy than it used to be, at least in my Cube. Izzet also seems to be at least as good as Boros, whereas Boros used to be THE aggro deck in our Cube environment. It's not crazy to assume a swing for 7 on turn 3 in many of our aggro decks.
I used to run him but he never really played out as expected. He was too easily chump blocked and easily killed when he was, unlike a prowess creature.
There was definitly occasions where I burned two blockers and crashed in for 7 but it was alot less often than I would have liked. Aggro decks didnt like him because the damage wasnt reliable enough and it wasnt really the way my spells matters decks were looking to win.
Could be worth a shot if you support storm/agro/spells-matter and want a card that support all 3 (but an all-star in none).
Kiln Fiend is a huge glass cannon. The fact that it dies to everything and is easily chump blocked is a huge turn off. I prefer Plated Geopede much more.
Is glass cannon a consideration for a 2-drop red creature though? Alternatives for larger Cubes include creatures like Borderland Marauder because red 2-drop slot is shallow. Even though many of the other red 2-drop creatures have 2 (or 1) toughness they often aren’t thought of as glass cannons because the ceiling is lower.

I think people like Maurauder because she has a guarnteed 3 power on the attack and that is good for beating down and trading up.
Its a glass cannon that can't always fire when you want it to. You also run the risk of making bad plays to get ot to go off, like holding burn too long or going all in on a turn only to get blown out by removal.
I definitly think you can make it work, it just wasn't what I was looking for. I think if we got afew more cheap creatures like it you could make a decent stab Izzet tempo.
There are a few red 2-drops you could consider running in favour of Kiln Fiend. Eidolon of the Great Revel is really strong when it enters on turn two. Furyblade Vampire is somewhat along the lines of Kiln Fiend, but it has a second point of toughness and has trample. I was quite impressed by the card, since I could always discard a land or a spell with Flashback, or even better, a Madness spell, of which quite a few should be playable at 720 (maybe I'm wrong on that. I personally only play Fiery Temper). Bloodrage Brawler is something in between Furyblade Vampire and Kiln Fiend. Yes, you generate card disadvantage, but it's a massive beating and some decks you can craft in cube don't care that much about discard and can sometimes even use it well. Either way, these three cards seem much better to me than Kiln Fiend. I also run Ash Zealot, but haven't seen it punish the graveyard interaction yet. Even without it, its stats combined with the keywords are super-nice. On the other hand, it's double-red.

Does anyone have experience with Kiln Fiend?
