Well, we finally got I think the blue version of Wall of Omens.
U
Defender
ETB Scry 1
0/4
Super disapointed it's not strapped to an actual draw affect. Scry is decent, but not nearly as good and scry 1 is = draw 1/2 card. On the other hand, it only costs 1/2 the mana of wall of omens. The U mana is nice since it can leave your Turn 2 open four counterspells and blue doesn't really have very many 1 drop options. I don't think this quite makes it, but if any others want to disagree or make an argument that this should be a staple feel free.
I'll be trying this in place of Thing in the Ice, which I'm including more for the 0/4 side than the Awoken Horror side anyway, so this seems like a solid upgrade.
I Hadn't considered replacing Thing in the Ice. It rarely flips for us, the threat of it flipping defiantly alters gameplay though and I can see running either one as a reasonable choice.
I don't think this is really all that much more attractive than Omenspeaker, a card that never could hack it in my cube. I'll most likely pass on this.
This seems supremely meh to me. An 0/4 is basically not a card, and scry 1 is definitely not a card. I don't think I'll even want to play this in normal WAR limited.

I did cut Omenspeaker, that's true. But it wasn't awful. You lose a Scry, but it doesn't die to Lightning Bolt and friends and it's half the mana cost of any of these other cards we are discussing.
This card may not be sexy, but it's the sort of thing you're happy to have in your pool when your opponent opens Mountain -> Goblin Guide or the like. Even if you're just boarding it in.
Wall of Omens this is not. Thing in the Ice this is not. This is closer to Omenspeaker (a card I don't think is near cubeworthy) if anything and I don't think this is much better. A pretty easy pass for me.
edit: Hell, I'm not even sure this is better than Steel Wall. Scry 1 is fine and all, but having to pay U for the card instead of 1 is a pretty significant drawback. Plus, Steel Wall is at least mildly playable in the artifact.dec.
you are probably right about Steel Wall, but I think this is way better than Omenspeaker. The 4th point of toughness means it won't die to Bolt which is a pretty big deal.
Is it though? Like, if my opponent wants to spend a removal spell on my cheap creature, I don't really care. And the 1/3 body can stop multiple 2/1 creatures from attacking you at all, since it will actually kill them in combat. But more importantly, Omenspeaker has more Scry. If I'm paying a premium to strap scry to an otherwise lackluster body, I might as well get the one that scries more. IDK, I don't think either of them are good.
This card is okay, but I like Steel Wall better. I also play Steel wall and have no intention of cutting it. But it's great contribution is that literally every deck can cast it with great ease. Scry 1 is fine, but it's not anything to write home about, and it's not going to make Kraken Hatchling suddenly great.

Also, in defense of Kraken Hatchling, you can slap equipment on it in a pinch and swing in. This doesn't have that option.
