Time Wipe 2WWU
Sorcery
Return a creature you control to its owner's hand, then destroy all creatures.
That seems like a really good upside on a wrath, especially if your Azorius control section has a heavy overlap with blink/ETBs. It also happens to be a silly Arcane Savant target. I feel like this is a top 3 Azorius card.
I like the play pattern of this card, and I’d love to get in some loopy Eternal Witness nonsense with it, but it’s in a guild with Supreme Verdict, so I doubt I’ll be doing so anytime soon.
It's a fine card, but I don't think it comes anywhere near the top cards.
5cc wraths would have to be particularly amazing to be cubeworthy (that's why there aren't any). I don't think this upside justifies it costing 5 mana; better yet being 2 colors. It's probably about on par with Fumigate or Rout.
Fumigate has been pretty good for us, and I think saving your creature to reuse is significantly better. You'd rather have Supreme Verdict against an early board rush, for sure, but Time Wipe is much more valuable later. You'd even want to play it in some cases where a vanilla wrath would have questionable value. This is going to be a staple in my section for sure.
We'll have to agree to disagree. You're calling it a staple, I don't think this cracks the Top 10 for its guild. This isn't even the best card from WAR that won't be making it into my cube...
not worth running, however I wonder if modern will play a copy or 2 in control decks. casting this to return a snapcaster and then casting snapcaster to flash this back can lead to some pretty insane value
I'm not as down on it as wtwlf, but it is in a bit of an odd spot for sure. It doesn't feel like a control sweeper to me, because the advantage it provides doesn't really warrant the extra cost in that deck. However, if you're either running a cube big enough to support a full tempo suite or have for some reason completely abandoned control for tempo in Azorius, this does seem like a wrath that type of deck could use to recover from while rebuying an ETB creature or just protecting a primary threat.
If that's the kind of deck you want Azorius section to be about, this seems like a great include, but I expect it to be a miss for the average cube.
Most decks I’m running that has sweepers don’t have too many creatures to bounce or will rely on manlands / planeswalkers to win. Control win conditions are already resilient enough. I think Fumigate is a much better sweeper at 5 mana, and that’s on the outside looking into my cube.
This effect is cute, but in the end it's a 5 CMC sweeper. This card wouldn't even make our white section, and is nowhere near good enough for the very competitive Azorius slot.
