I still run Chainer's Edict, but no others. I'm not convinced on this, because I like the flashback on Chainer's more, and it's probably still going to fall out of the cube soon.
Man, that 2-for-1 potential is so tempting, even though I know in reality it might come up like 10% of the time in this format, even if you’re running 3 or more Lilianas.
Maybe that’s enough though? The baseline is a card that is playable but cube-dependent, and this is better in two measurable (if niche) ways.
I love the 2-mana Edicts, and this is a better version of Diabolic Edict. I'll be playing this for sure. I don't yet know if this'll just replace DE, replace CE or run it in addition to so I can have all 3 available. We support a lot of decks that like to cheat early fat monsters into play, and these effects are super nice to have around. Plus they can be answers to an early TNN, Thrun, Tyrant or other untargetable monster.
I actually think the decision to run this vs diabolic edict really comes down to how many lillianas you have in your cube relative to it's size.
Targeting yourself with diabolic edict is quite rare, but it does come up. IE Block a batterskull , and sac your creature to gain critical life. Sacrifice one of your own creatures so it's not Control Magiced/Zealous conscripted. Kill your own creature to trigger blood artists. Sac abysal persecutor
I think you'll have a liliana out on the battlefield and want your opponent to discard a card, more often than the corner cases of saccing your own creature comes up.... but if you had say 1 Liliana in a 1000 card cube, I don't expect that to be true.
I'm a big fan of one instant speed edict, two might be excessive.
My 465 cube runs 4 lilianas. If you're in black in our group, there's a pretty good chance you're playing at least one. I literally don't think I've ever seen the potential target your own creature upside of Diabolic ever actually happen.

In the past, we've run Innocent Blood before for mainly that reason. Cabal Therapy is in the same vein. Probably outmoded by now though.
I think I'm gonna cut Chainers and play both instant-speed ones. The proliferation of manlands and creature threats that are immune to sorcery removal (like planeswalkers that make/become creatures) has increased to the point where I think having it be an instant is just more valuable for control than ever before.
And while it's not strictly better than Diabolic Edict, I think it's better more often. I've targeted myself two or three times with Edict over the 10+ years I've been cubing with it ...I think there's been more cases where I've cast that spell with a Liliana on the board though.
Either way, I like instant speed Edicts, and I'll probably just be happy playing both.
Better than Diabolic Edict, but not the edict effect I've wanted. For edict effects to be maindeck playable, like other narrow effects, they need to come on a card that can do other things.
I haven't played Edict for a while, but with the new ways to cheat things in that we added over the last year or two, I have thought about readding it. So it's a definite maybe. The little discard boost is going to be more relevant than the self-sac; can't recall doing that more than once ever.
I don't think this has been mentioned but since this doesn't target (like Diabolic Edict) it can get around players that have hexproof. Not sure how much of that is in people's cubes but it might be a consideration.
Strictly better Diabolical Edict, enough said.

Uril, the Miststalker RGW -- Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre C -- Vhati il-Dal BG -- Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer RW -- Animar, Soul of Elements URG
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker R -- Maga, Traitor to Mortals B -- Ghave, Guru of Spores BGW -- Sliver Hivelord WUBRG
This is going to see play in modern for sure.
2 mana instant speed edict has a good chance to kill a relevant creature.

I have cut all mine, for every time I got a high value target there are 5 where any other removal spell would have been better.
If I still ran edicts this would have been a slam dunk.

Same here. 1/450 is too few. Plus if I have LoTV the impct of this card is smaller as I have discard and edicts already.
Seems like you just need to run more Liliana's
