I added the "B-List" tag, which is something I'll likely do for some of the future threads I'll create. Obviously, that signifies that this is probably not a mainstream card, but it is still one worth noting.
This has been performing admirably for me. Some slow decks have difficulty protecting their life total and fixing their mana, and this is a very simple solution that does exactly what it says it does. This is a card that only certain decks want in the main, but I've found it to be a decent sideboard card in match-ups where the life is important, or where the opponent is targeting your lands (or if you feel exasperated about your mana base). As a random 1-drop artifact, it obviously has various synergies as well. Artifact-based control decks are happy to play this card. Nobody will ever first-pick this, but I don't see it ever going last either.
I just thought to create this thread because I doubt this card is on anyone's radar. I'm also interested in Fountain of Renewal, which is again far off the beaten path of played cards.
As far as life gain artifacts go it's not bad. As for other ones, Sun Droplet is a really good one. It can gain a ton of life over the course of the game. Prism Ring is also decent. Lastly Pristine Talisman is a bit of ramp and lifegain. I have a Karlov Commander deck that runs all that good stuff. Mana fixing and life gain is a weird combination and I can't think of too many other colourless cards that fit that exactly, if that's what you're looking for.
Props though, as I was not aware of this card's existence until this thread.

On spoiled card wishlisting and 'should-have-had'-isms:
