How can this card possibly be correct? If there is no other card on the battlefield besides Hostage Taker, it will flicker itself indefinitely and the game will end in a draw. In addition, the fact that this just enables infinite combos with Purphoros/Panharmonicon + ETB trigger permanent (like Cathars' Crusade) makes me think this isn't right - they errata'd Marath, Will of the Wild for a similar reason, although its combos with Blood Artist like cards were perhaps more heinous.
How sure are we that it says "artifact or CREATURE" and not some other card type? It does look like creature, but hopefully there will be a change to make it a may or "another target creature".
I'm not sure I'd include it in the cube if this issue isn't fixed. It's awesome that it kills with Purphoros and is an incredibly strong card, but I wouldn't be a fan of Toxic Deluge into this for an intentional draw when a deck is losing.
My Cubes - The Busted Cube. A fully functional, almost 100% custom cube. The project started out by asking "What if other colors got cards on the power level of Mana Drain,Ancestral Recall, and Time Walk?" Draft and enjoy!
Toughness looks more like 1 to me here, which is a lot less exciting. As a 2/1, I don't think I run it, though I would still consider it if I ran 0 mana artifacts to steal.
The card is obviously going to be insta-errata'd to "another target...". Shoddy editing, but not surprising given their recent track record.

If you zoom in, it's pretty clear that it says target artifact or creature and nothing else.
Anyways, yeah, it looks like this might actually be a 2/1 instead of a 2/3. Not exactly a deal breaker, but still a bummer.
It would actually require an immediate errata. If it's the only target, it creates an infinite loop with itself and the game stalls.
Pretty sure the card works correctly with just Purphoros, God of the Forge out, no? They both trigger at the same time, so you can simply choose to put Purphoros' trigger on the stack last so it resolves first, dealing 2 damage each time. It's true that it blinks indefinitely, but your opponent losing the game stops the loop.

As is, it's definitely an infinite with Purphoros, but if there's nothing to stop the loop and you DON'T have a Purphoros type card, the game will forcibly end in a draw due to unending infinite.

Yes, I mentioned this in a previous post - I was only saying it's not a draw if you have Purphoros out.
In any case, would people play this in cube as written? I imagine wizards will change it to "another", but I'm curious if people would allow a way for players to just draw the game in their cube, regardless of what WOTC ends up doing with this card.

Like I said, the card ultimately can't be worded as written. It will require an errata. And once it's errata'd, it won't go infinite with Purphoros anymore.
I wasn't debating that it would require an errata, only pointing out that as currently written it kills with Purph when it might usually be a draw (as sort of a side note)
In any case, once it is errata'd, would people play this over Dragonlord Silumgar? The ability to take planeswalkers is big game for control decks that usually have trouble with them, and Silumgar is a threat on his own that can stabilize the board. But being able to steal and cast a creature without them being able to take it back for only 2UB is spicy. Thoughts?

A mistake of this magnitude, especially given that Wizards has been trying for some time to be extra careful with temporary exile effects to avoid unintuitive and beginner-unfriendly shenanigans that were possible with O-Ring and Flickerwisp... just makes me doubt this leak. Then again, they make mistakes all the time and I haven't seen them declare these as fakes.
Assuming it's real and receives errata, I'd probably play it over Silumgar since I think UB control already has a bunch of big funny spells to cast and tons of answers to planeswalkers, and I like the idea of making aggro/tempo decks in uncommon color combinations viable. I also personally like the UB "steal a spell" mechanic they started adding to cards in Theros (I think) because it's so unique, and ths would be the first cubeable instance of that IMO.

Yeah this would be an insane amount of work to replicate an entire's set worth of rares for a fake foil rare sheet. Leak is more likely than not, like it's almost overly optimistic to think otherwise.
is there anyway that this could still be a test sheet to check foiling or something? Ironically, maybe the leak will let them catch the mistake and fix it before official print happens.

A test sheet that they make up new cards for but also include reprints on, that has general themes and overlaps of the mechanics of said cards?
Assuming this is real, where does it rank in Dimir land? I support the artifact deck, but I'm considering cutting Tezz2.0 for it. It looks pretty great. I'm ignoring the loop potential because I have to believe that will be errata'd.
Depends on the nature of the errata and toughness. It's possible that it just gets changed to a "may" to avoid the forced loop, but still goes infinite with ETB/LTB triggers, in which case it will be abusable enough to make it just as a combo piece. If it's changed to "another", I'll say its on par with Silumgar at 2/3 and close to unplayable at 2/1.

I believe you are trying to tell me that with those factors it isn't likely to be a test sheet, but i am a bit confused by your comment. WOTC is always changing foiling processes doesn't matter if the cards are new or reprints. The reprints also have new art so they could also just be testing to make sure they have the print layers right. (don't want another captains claws with goldnight castigator foil situation). I feel like its pretty safe to assume that before they package a set they print a few test sheets of it to inspect it?
A 2/3 makes this one a slam dunk for me. Dimir is one of my least favorite guild lists, and adding in a Banisher Priest+ that plays well with bounce and recursion is very solid. Jumping in on T4 and taking a Mox if they can't kill it in response to the trigger is going to feel pretty sweet.
This will go in for Agony Warp on my list, but I'd probably play it over Far // Away or Shadowmage Infiltrator.
This guy is definitely interesting. The 2/3 body is pretty good on defense, and if you cast the exiled target before they remove Hostage Taker, they don't get their card back. I might test this in the floating slot that contains The Scarab God/Dragonlord Silumgar.
Hard to say if it breaks into top 3 Dimir cards, especially when your cube supports the artifact deck. Undoubtedly great card. Shame its text won't match what it actually does.

I can't imagine cutting Tezz unless I was cutting the entire Tinker package, he's such a huge payoff card for Dimir / Grixis artifacts.
