Interesting Izzet tempo card that can work well with Spells Matters themes. Doesn't unseat Fire // Ice for me, but I think this is a decent option if you push Izzet Tempo / Spells Matter.
There are a lot of Izzet cards I like over this. Both charm and fire//ice seem better as spells with options. And then you have Dack which is as close to a staple as a multicolored card can get to, and then Ral Zarek, and then a lot of other cards which are probably still better. Izzet is stacked.
Neat effect, but I don't think it's versatile/cost effective enough to unseat any of the other current options. If the red half was a burn spell or a shatter effect I'd have played this in a heartbeat. Oh well.

Yeah, I was REALLY hoping for a split suffocating blast variant when I saw UR and read the first half. I think I would slam test this if it was the exact same cost but 3 damage on the red side. Oh well.
As is, the second half of this card is really only good when you are about to close out the game (it doesn't even tap the lands?!) and it's impossible to get card advantage out of the card, making it basically only good un UR tempo or a deck that for some reason just wants a 3CMC mana leak.
We have a burn spell from graveyard already, but a Shatter or Threaten effect would've been neato. I'm always down with new effects but I have no idea if that red effect plays OK in cube or not.
Seems ok for control: pitch to force of will then tap them down next turn. I don't think I will run it but it could be interesting if this is a new effect, they have said land destruction isn't something they like but temporary mana denial seems like something red could do that plays well with what it does. (e.g. an aggressive red creature that keeps a land tapped down.)

Does not work, Force of Will exiles the blue card. Plus being pitchable to FoW is not how I'm ranking the cubeability of blue cards.

Forgot the exile. Yea it's not something to include it based on, but it seemed like a fun thing to do if it was cubeable... and it worked.
This is interesting. I think people underestimate the Exhaustion ability. It wouldn't be worth a card, but it's pretty powerful as a random upside. Most people don't have any extra guild slots, though, and this isn't one of the top five red/blue cards around.
Years have passed, and this card is great! I plan to keep it forever. Pretty often the aftermath doesn't come out, but when it does, it always feels like a huge wallop. Even in the late game, three lands usually makes a difference.
I also have people doing things like splashing the aftermath ability off a dual land in a non-red deck.
