I like these duals way more than the temples. Both ETB tapped anyways, but cycling and being fetchable > scry 1.
Me too. I have 3 Temples but they're in enemy-color guilds. What I'm considering is swapping out the allied-colored painlands for these new duals. Then, to keep the C count high enough, making room for the Talismans in the artifact section.
Temples are really great in slower decks. I know probably no one is running bounce lands, but they synergies really well with those too. I'm experimenting with a partial land cycle idea where I only run 4 of them just in a specific color. Currently Temples are my white cycle, Bounce are blue, creature land are green, fast land are red and pain are black.
If bicycle lands were complete, I'd probably slot them in into that paradigm. Maybe make this the white cycle instead of Temples? I don't know. I'd have to think about it.
As is, I might just run these as an extra 5 lands in my 360 and up it to 365 for now. I don't mind having a slight imbalance towards allied vs enemy guilds. It's not going to be very noticeable in draft being off by a single fixer. I do hope they finish the cycle though because these are really cool lands.
I'm going to test all of these in my 540 just to see how they play. Right now I'd include them over the check lands I have in U/W & U/B (and W/B if/when they print it). Not sure how these stack up to the tango lands. I still like the painlands more because they enter untapped & don't do damage as often as you'd expect. I don't think I want to add another cycle of lands at this point. I think it's the cycling cycle (ha!) vs the tango cycle in my Cube. Of course I can break up the cycle but from a power level perspective these are the sets I'm comparing.
I would play all 5, but I think Selesyna and Gruul would appreciate the turn 1 mana a bit more.

These are pretty interesting. I never considered them, but now that Im running Lorien Revealed and the rest of the cycle, having the basic land types is becoming more important to me. The most interesting one is sheltered thicket, because gr is usually the core of the lands deck, and these work really well with w6, loam, etc...
Ill probably try this over rootbound crag, my 7th dual land, which feels like a placeholder atm.
As much as I wanted the cycle to be completed years ago, triomes just completely blow cycling duals out of the water. I've found that these types of lands are generally played / fetched much more than they are cycled, and triomes are just better sans the cheaper cycling cost. Also great for enabling domain cards like Leyline Binding.

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.
