Creature - Devil Horror
Bedlam Reveler costs 1 less to cast for each instant or sorcery card in your graveyard.
Prowess (Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, this creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)
When Bedlam Reveler enters the battlefield, discard your hand, then draw three cards.
3/4
It won't go into every deck, but it definitely passes the Terminate test. I definitely plan to try it, even if I don't know what CMC slot to cut from to make room....
Interesting top end spell for Spellsmatters and can survive your own Wildfire, but red top end is really tight, especially since we recently just got Chandra.
That's a very powerful ETB trigger though.... Not sure how I feel yet. Maybe if I stop supporting Kiki-Jiki?
I would love this in Izzet spell matters or red burn. Even if you discard actual cards it is still powerful enough, especially with top deck manipulation.
I like how it's a ETB effect and not a cast effect. Makes it very interesting with Sneak Attack, Feldon and even Kiki/Twin to an extent.
That was my first thought. R/B reanimator with Feldon and Sneak attack has been getting more popular in my group and this thing seems great there.
I can't really believe they printed this card in formats where you these things can fuel each other.
In cube I think it can be a role player in a couple different archetypes, and is a sweet target for my decks that feature Temur Battle Rage/Berserk. And in my counterburn young pyrromancer special I will be very happy. Goblin Dark Dwellers might have to ride the pine already for this guy. For most decks/cubes this is probably a turn 6 play for 5 mana, but I am hoping to break it.
This is a pretty neat creature. If I was still all in on the spells matters package, I might look into this thing. As it is, it's still very playable in counterburn, but not so much the other red archetypes. Kinda wish this was an Izzet creature that was slightly more pushed ...because that's the only place I can really see it shining anyways.
I feel like this is pretty insane as it sits for constructed formats, but it's just a bit situational for most cubes. I could see lists that support more of a spell-based burn theme in red getting some mileage out of this, but getting the full cost reduction is a big ask.
Then again, it does loamy stuff. I can't resist loamy stuff.
This looks like it has a LOT of potential in the right build. Playing your hand, then dropping this for 3-4 mana and draw 3 will feel so great. We might have to find room for this, not an easy task in the red section.
I still support spells matter, this will be super cheap to pick up as I can't imagine it's anything but fringe playable anywhere in constructed, so I'll probably test it out. I don't think it will be good enough to have staying power, though, as you really need it to cost 4 or less to be worth it.
I think it falls short, since as asmallcat pointed out you really need this to cost 4 or similar, and in the spells matter decks we're using flashback cards and Delve cards which is going to make that already tricky feat even harder.
I prefer Goblin Dark Dwellers still. If your deck has a low count of burn, say expecting to see only 2 or so per game, Dark Dwellers is still playable while this is not. GDD has immediate board impact and helps you stabilize (asusming you pick a burn spell). The goblins have a better body. I'm not even sure the ceiling of this card is higher - replaying Time Walks is pretty busted.
Did anyone get to geniunely test this guy? I'm interested in the card a lot more than I was on release having dabbled in other formats. I think it may have been better than it first appeared, but I haven't cubed it.

I've haven't had many reps but this guy is pretty solid. I tend to go off the deep end on spells matter though. It has shown up in standard aggro and been ok, and was in a sneak attack feldon reanimator deck with hilarious results. You have to really want the card draw because even with prowess it is a little anemic in combat by the time it comes down and it has no evasion.
I'm really interested in this card, and it's in more than a thousand cubes on Cube Tutor, so what have been your reactions to playing with it? Is this a miss from the set for this cube community? It plays pretty powerfully in Standard, and feels like it only gets better in a cube environment.
I run it in my cube but have only had a chance to play a couple times. This is the kind of card I really love, but my reaction so far is a little flat. The vanilla body is pretty meh, and it can be hard to curve out just right. I think it has a great best case scenario but might not have enough impact often enough to stay in for the next season.
This is one of those cards that just work better in constructed. I want 3-4 instants/sorceries in my graveyard when I cast this (because I really don't want to pay more than 5 mana for this), while simultaneously having 0-1 cards left in hand. Most cube decks will have a hard time getting both those requirements. Decks with enough instants/sorceries are usually control decks and those don't tend to go that low on cards. Aggressive decks that would want to refill their hand in this way usually don't run that many instants/sorceries. You may occasionally draft a spells matter deck in cube where this shines, but it will be super rare (unless your cube is really warped towards that archetype).
I would definitely try this if the cost reduction mechanic were delve instead. As printed, it is not for my cube (and I would say not for many cubes).
I've tried this card in one deck and came to the same conclusion. You want this card to work, but the reality is it doesn't. When I wanted to cast him early in the game, he costed too much. When he was cheap, I also had a full hand and didn't want to lose that advantage. Too much trouble, unfortunately

This is a card I come back to every once in a while to see if it improved or not and I think it is somewhat viable now in 2024.
- This could play as a top end threat for any non-blue midrange deck -> Reanimator, Mardu Tokens etc. to refuel in the mid to late game against a blue deck
- There are multiple ways to fill the graveyard + there are multiple efficient burn/ removal spells.
- Survives WildFire, which I notice is becoming much more difficult than 3+ years ago
My experience is paying that much mana to draw cards usually isn't worth it. My experience with Treasure Cruise / Bedlam Reveler is they can refund in the mid to late game for additional gas - I've seen it best used in burn / tempo decks.

Treasure Cruise has not been in my cube since I took it out for Lórien Revealed. I wouldn't run either Bedlam Reveler or Treasure Cruise, personally.
