I love O-ring effects for the meme plays with upheaval. When you banishing light your Brimaz, King of Oreskos then upheaval you feel pretty good. Its not a crazy combo since you pretty much scream "I have upheaval" when you exile your own dude, but still loads of fun.
I played a couple other card games over the years and nothing really sticks. Nothing lets me express myself the way cube in magic does.
The only game that came close was wizkids Pirates csg but that's long dead.
I used to play the Decipher Star Wars CCG as well, and will vouch for its awesomeness. It produced incredibly interesting and dynamic games that were super fun. I was part of a playgroup that placed 2 players in the World Championship one year (4th and 9th place I believe), so the competition around me was incredibly cutthroat and we constantly pushed each other. I’ve actually considered putting together wtwlf123’s Star Wars cubes just to relive the nostalgia!!
I also play the old I.C.E. Middle Earth card game, which is badly designed and contains an insane amount of errata, but is super flavorful and really fun nonetheless. I am currently a part of probably the main MECCG hub in North America, centered in the Denver area.
Great catch-all removal, 3 mana to deal with any non-land permanent is a really good rate. It would take something really crazy to push it out.
I like card games, the whole "the game is bigger than the box" appeals to me. I play Star Realms, Epic, Race for the Galaxy and I have Netrunner but I haven't played it in years and some YuGiOh starter decks that someone donated to the charity shop I work in. I don't think I would ever get into another TCG, they are pricier than a drug habit.

This doesn't work with Banishing Light since it can only target an opponent's permanents. Oblivion Ring, sure.
I'd always run Banishing Light over Journey to Nowhere, too many planeswalkers these day. They have been toying a lot with these effects and one day it could be cut.
Probe is solid, especially if you support Storm. It's an easy card to find room for in your deck, but a harder card to find a slot for in the cube itself.
When you look at basically every format in Magic, most have you keeping track of multiple game objects and patterns just to figure out what might be in your opponent's hand. Aside from storm/spell-slinging applications, I'm very close to including gitaxian probe for the huge value of free info for any deck, although I bet my players would be hesitant to include it in aggro. I don't really know if that's the right call or not.
I'm super surprised to say blue has the most commons for me, and green/white tied for least!
I really like Probe. Besides the Storm and Spells Matters decks, just knowing your opponent's hand makes every card in your hand better. Whether it's knowing when to hold counterspells/removal or if it's safe to deploy a threat. It's a very powerful effect when it doesn't cost a card, and doesn't even have to cost any mana.
Faithless Looting is great; card draw for a color that doesn't usually get it, strong card filter and graveyard synergy. I will usually find a spot for it in any red based deck that isn't all in on agro, it is a good early play and extra value in the late game.
Play this card. It's so useful everywhere. I picked up a couple copies of Goblin Lore for cheap, and man I wish Burning Inquiry was more cubeable too. I just love red doing this.
A very unique card in Red, and can actually generate card advatage with Phoenixes, Squee, Flashback, Unearth, Madness; and that is just within the color.
Is there a card that you don't currently run that you would you run if it were color-shifted into another color?
I think if there are blatant color pie violations I would, but it will not feel very right.
In my Artifact Cube, there are many things I wish gets colorshifted:
1) decent Fabricate and proliferate and cards into green
3) White equipment matter cards into red
Looting is great. I play it in pretty much every red deck that's not an all-in aggro deck, and it's a powerhouse in any decks that are utilizing the graveyard as a resource.
There are tons of cards that don't make the cut that would if they were color-shifted. Black, for example, would be happy to have any number of reject 5-drop creatures that can't cut it in white, red or green anymore.
Early game, just casting Forbid to counter something is fine. Late game, once you have a draw engine going, Forbid feels unbeatable. Graveyard interactions are just icing. Forbid's the only cmc3 counter I run, but I'm very happy with it.
Queen is great. It's a "fattie" but you can still find it with the two tutor creatures and recur it with Reveillark. In the Natural Order deck, there are other targets I prefer but in ramp and RecSur, Queen really shines. I still haven't gotten her on a Mimic Vat though.
Such a great way to stabilize the board. It allows you to split attackers and blockers, making it good in complex board states. And it also has interactions with Recruiter(s) and ETB effects because it has a small body but an insane trigger. Fantastic creature.

Forbid
What's your most creative guess for what is going on in the original art for this card?
Yeah, it's clearly the mole thing.

I generally think Consecrated Sphinx, Jace TMS, and Future Sight to go with Forbid, but Iterative Analysis seems really awesome!
