Nahiri seems to be catching on across Standard, Modern and even Legacy, so I should do my due diligence and ask if anyone has experimented with her since release. She wasn't powerful enough at first glance to break into my 450 powered cube, but given how she's been testing in constructed formats I'm willing to keep an open mind about her if anyone has anything new to say.
She's not bad. Planes walkers with high loyalty and relevant abilities always tend to perform well in cube, and Nahiri is no different. There are some awkward moments where you opponent can play around her removal and her ultimate has been kinda whatever, but she's pretty strong. I prefer some of the cheaper boros spells over another 4-drop PW for smaller sections, but she should (or could) def find space in a larger cube.
Opened her in a pack today so I'm gonna give her a shot as I've been looking to take brion stoutarmfor a while but haven't ended up doing it. I'll reply back when I get to play with her.
Man, Brion Stoutarm did some serious work in Boros about ten years ago. Seeing him mentioned makes me a little nostalgic for the early days of my cube. But seriously, though, Nahiri is quite the improvement over him in today's environment.
Yea I know, he just sorta hung about because he was fun and my group liked him and he makes for fun stories and for me that beat out boros charm and lightning helix, great cards but less flavourful and lack "cool". I think I have loved him ever since my brother made a janky deck in our early magicing days that aimed to win by throwing dragons at your face. Something about a giant throwing fire breathing dragons just makes me smile.
is nahiri still viable in cube now? it doesn't look like she fits any archetype at all?
Nahiri kind of creates her own archetype in a way. I like her because she's not just another burn spell and she can generate a Boros deck that's not just aggressive. I've seen her in Naya ramp decks, Jeskai or Boros Wildfire shells, or Sneak Attack decks. She's like a breath of fresh air in a guild that's nothing but aggro support.
White serves as a good splash for several graveyard-based decks, depending on what else you support. Enlightened Tutor can be a powerful card. And yes, her ultimate is relatively reliable for fatty-cheating and creature combo decks, the same way she was used in those Jeskai decks in constructed.

Anyway, glad and sad to see him go.

white is the least played colour in cheat decks, so you want to be able to have a mana base that can support a 3rd/4th colour splash
