This card seems absolutly busted! Every mode are so relevant! Can't imagine it not getting you 2 for 1 or even 3 for 1 your opponent. Good in every archetype! Aggro, Control and Midrange will maindeck that in my cube, no doubt.
Control : Pyroclasm plus Shatter is just no joke! Really close to the best red sweeper ever print! Sweet red control card! Kills all your weenies and blast your piece of equipment? Check!
Aggro : Lava Axe on steroid for 1 less mana is awesome! So much cheap damage in one card! Getting rid of the last life point your opponent has? Check!
Midrange : Boros Charm plus Shatter is busted! Kills a planeswalker and blast a random power artifact? Check!
Simply good value! Myr Battlesphere looks pretty silly next to it!
I don't know if smash is the cut for this. That makes the main in a lot of aggressive decks hitting those early mana ramp cards to stay ahead and doing some random damage. Back up mode is hitting a valuable artifact creature blocker or opposing swords.
This is a control card most of the time. But 6 to the dome is a lot ..... going to have to think about this.
I can't wait to use this to blow up a sword, kill the X/1 that was carrying it, and dome my opponent for 2. This card is going to create some good stories.

Just don't forget that this doesn't work on swords that give protection from red.

It would have if damage was dealt after the sword is destroyed, right?

Right, but for this card, the artifact destruction is the last line, and the way the timing happens, it follows the order the text is written when multiple options are chosen. So it would attempt to do the damage to the creature first.
Timing couldn't have been better for this. I was just reviewing my artifact removal suite and felt I was lacking one other good solid option in Red after just adding SoBaM back in. This is going into my Cube for sure. If there's one thing I like it's versatility in a card and this is a lot of value for 4 mana. Even if you are burning your opponent out. Bolt, Spear, Firecraft and Confluence is 16 damage. Pretty good curve topper for the burn deck, if you run it.
I like to support both aggro and control in red, and this card looks like it could be a versatile addition to both types of deck. In aggro, it is reach at a reasonable price that can act as a reset button against creatures and/or artifacts if need be. In control, it deals with creatures, artifacts and planeswalkers and will quite likely net you card advantage. The four drop slot in red provides many good options these days, but Fiery Confluence may very well edge out a more narrow card.
I don't run Chandra though, so my cut is likely to be either Manic Vandal or Smash the Smithereens. So sad that I have a altered MV... Maybe I'll opt for StS then.
This card is awsome for powered cube, and playable in multiple-red archetypes.
The 6 damage to the face for 4 mana is probably playable by itself in an agro archetype, but the flexiblity puts it well over the top.
Mediocore main deck card for control, but phenomenal as a sideboard option, mix of a way to hit planeswalkers, sweep creatures or kill artifacts is a very flexible powerful card against the right deck. Imagine a green deck with multiple equipment peices, mana dorks and planeswalkers, should be AT LEAST 2 for 1 most of the time with occasional total blowouts.
Vs artifact.dec, this is effectively a cubable shatterstorm, JEEZ. It's so vicious against that deck, I'll definitely take out an artifact destruction card to include this.
Instantly stood out to me, head and shoulders above the other cards spoiled today. Going straight in my cube!

I disagree with it being a mediocre main deck card for control, I think it is an amazing main deck card for control decks in Cube. Control decks in Cube are sometimes difficult to build because you have to be prepared to face a variety of decks. This card offers great value against so many decks that I will happily maindeck it!

I think it will basically always make the 23 in a control deck that can support the mana, but
There will be occasional decks that this will be quite bad, reanimator for example. Having matchups where it's a bad card reduces it's average value... but the more I think about it, there are probably more decks that this card ravages than it bricks against.
My main point was it has a high ceiling, low floor in a control shell and you will be sideboarding it out more than many other cards.

I agree.
I think there are many possible cuts for Fiery Confluence. For mana curve considerations, cutting a four drop might be advisable. It may be difficult to figure out which four drop to cut, but it has to be possible to find a cut there because I think Fiery Confluence is more powerful than most of the commonly played four drops. If you can afford an additional four drop but still run the artifact destruction two drops (Torch Fiend and friends, which are a left-overs from days past when we had too few playable two drops in red, imho), they make for good cuts as well. And, at least in unpowered Cubes, I'd cut Manic Vandal or Keldon Vandals for Fiery Confluence as well.

I agree that it will be occasionally bad, but on the other hand that is true of most cards. And even then, reanimator for example often plays artifact threats and/or is played as a crossover deck with Tinker.
The fact that this card is good against decks that play creatures, artifacts and/or planeswalkers makes it really hard to find a deck where it has no good targets. I'm just theory-crafting, it is possible that the effect is not worth the 2RR investment in practice. But on paper, I like it a lot.
I am really excited for what I assume is a cycle. Let's hope it stays at 4 mana or less. I can't imagine the blue wont be amazing even if it loot, force spike, bounce.
As for this card it is really soft against aggro ... 3 mana anger of the gods is meh all over. That said it is pretty much what most red decks want against all other opponents.

It goes in the order of the card, so no it won't; it'll do the damages in their respective order, then destroy the equipment.

Yes, the damage will be prevented before the sword itself gets blown up.
