After seeing how effective he's been in standard in whip/delve strategies, I decided to draft him in my recurring nightmare deck on the legacy cube.
I was extremly impressed.
Given how well he performed, I decided to put him in for a trial run in my cube.
He's performed at or above my expectations.
Highly recommend him as a delve/reanimator/lands enabler at the 450+ level.
There's a surprisingly high number of cards that get value from the graveyard in cube, making him generate considerable card advantage in the right deck.
Cards that work well with him:
Recurring nightmare, life from the loam, crucible of worlds, strip mine, lingering souls, deep analysis, treasure cruise, dig through time, tombstalker, murderous cut, regrowth/eternal witness, titania, Vengevine, Bloodghast, all reanimation spells (dread return and unburial rites are especially sweet!), chainer's edict
His body can provide card advantage with cards like skull clamp, birthing pod.
AND HE CAN CARRY A SWORD (hehe)
Don't underestimate the value of impulsing for a land either. Digging for your needed color or utility land certainly has value that offsets the time it whiffs.
Thanks for the input. I don't support green aggro and I'm always looking for some low casting green drops that do other things besides beat face. I think I might give it a try.
I've actually been thinking about trying this guy out too. The only thing that was keeping me off of throwing him in is that he really only works with graveyard strategies.
We are getting a lot of graveyard-focused cards recently though, so maybe he's good enough.

Its an ok card right now that has interested synergies but it seems likely to me that its going to keep getting stronger and eventually it might even be quite good. It should definitely be in consideration above 360.
In my cube, Golgari is almost always some flavor of graveyard nonsense. So I can see this guy being cool in that. I may have to take another look at him. I didn't like the 1/1 body is really my main objection. That and his creature type is totally non-synergistic with my cube.
In a deck that really wants some graveyard filling, he'll be fine. For most green decks, he's too weak though. I would give him a try if he were a 2/1. A 1/1 is just too tiny, so I pass.
We’re planning to add a LOT of graveyard synergies with the MH2 update, including Life from the Loam, new black reanimator toys, DRS, and another delve card. This guy popped into my mind as potentially good in these GB and UG graveyard-heavy strategies.
Survival of the fittest, Vannifar, Birthing Pod, Eldrich Evolution, Fiend Artisan, Evolutionary Leap, Fauna Shaman which I feel is all a lot stronger than this for the creature graveyard decks. (Eldrich/ Evolutionary leap are less good, but they're playable if you really want to push in that direction)
I feel with MH2, the general curve of the curve is trending downwards with pitch creatures, efficient 2-3 drops and efficient spells that Treasure Cruise isn't really a "build around" anymore, but more of a just add this to any deck playing islands.
I probably wouldn't play this in reanimator. Assuming I have 7 reanimation targets, I would still only have a 55% chance of hitting a creature. I would prefer a discard outlet over this.

Good points! It probably does not hit exactly what you need if your goal is to turbo a fatty out of the ‘yard. The thought is that you would play this in a deck where there are several GY synergies and incidentally some amount of value is generated through a variety of hits. I’m thinking of GB decks where you might play black recursive creatures, a mini reanimator package, maybe some of the lands in GY matter stuff, etc. But it might not be impactful or consistent enough, as you said.
I cooled on satyr wayfinder after creating this thread and eventually cut him as more and more playable cards were released.
He was good in any deck that abused the graveyard, but mostly unplayable outside of that.
It made him too narrow without the upside to compensate for it.
In a GY centric cube he's certainly worth looking at.
