Titania, Protector of Argoth 3GG
Legendary Creature - Elemental
When Titania, Protector of Argoth enters the battlefield, return target land card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
Whenever a land you control is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, put a 5/3 green Elemental creature token onto the battlefield.
5/3
This is probably for really specific lists only, but I wanted to point out that this can be a strong card in a "lands matter" archetype (not just LftL & Crucible, but also Knight of the Reliquary, Zuran Orb & Constant Mists). Playing this with a fetchland or Strip Mine variant in the graveyard is very strong, as well.
If you support the Lands archetype and your list has a high enough density of fetches (either 360 or non-singleton), this card is worth a look.
It's probably a decent card for super ramp, where it probably ramps you one land on ETB and synergizes with your future fetches, Strip Mines, Wastelands, to make extra huge threats on top of its original body. One of the weaknesses of the land trickery is that you have no effect on the boards while you're investing resources in recurring lands and the like. Now you make 5/3's too. I think it's got some potential to be a fun card but I won't have room.
I think this may warrant testing. If you draft a good amount of fetches and Wasteland, etc. this will often be two 5/3s for 3GG right away. You just need to have cracked one land already. I'm just not sure if it'd be possible to draft this consistently enough (because fetches and co. are picked really high by everybody).
LOL, I totally missed the Armageddon interaction. That would be a pretty hilarious play.
Also: Wildfire! Titania will die, but you will get 4 5/3's on what's hopefully an empty board (at least I'm 99% sure that's how the interaction works).
Horizon Canopy is another excellent combo that hasn't been mentioned yet.
Unfortunately, Pox, Smallpox and Death Cloud don't really work well because of the order of the sacrifices on those cards. Although, if you have enough other creatures and you don't have to sacrifice Titania herself, it's still a decent combo.
I'm pretty sure that if you sac Titania in the "sacrifice creatures" step of those cards' resolution, she goes to the graveyard immediately and won't "see" the lands go the graveyard in the final step.
I can't really find a good analogy with an existing card to look for a ruling right now, though.
The wording on Pox means that everything happens separately while the card is resolving. If you sacrificed Titania, then she wouldn't be around to see the lands go away. If you have just one or two more creatures out, though, you don't have to sacrifice her so the synergy is still kind of there.
With that said, green's 5-drops are pretty stacked. I could see maybe trying to find room for this in 540 or larger cubes just because of all the synergies, though. Maybe you cut a 4-drop for her since there's already a ton of 4-drops in every color.

Ahh, yep, this is the case.
9/16/2007 The number you need to lose, discard, or sacrifice isn't calculated until it's time to perform that part of the effect. For example, if your opponent casts Pox and you discard Dodecapod as part of Pox's discard effect, Dodecapod will be put onto the battlefield instead of into your graveyard. Then, when determining how many creatures you need to sacrifice, the Dodecapod is taken into account.
She still is not half bad for Stax decks. I have been wanting more green Stax supporting creatures for a while and this card is a pretty sweet angle. Interestingly enough, I feel like I want this in a smaller cube rather than a larger one.
I really like this but green 5 drops are pretty rough. I think it works better in small lists where you can have 14-15 lands out of 360 cards that make for an easy combo. But in small lists Thragtusk is always going to be more consistent and easy to cast. The upper limit on this guy is pretty nuts with wildfire, blink and geddon. It is certainly a card I will get a copy of and try out at somepoint. I play silverheart and Vorapede and already lots of people don't play those.
You do everything in the order it's written on the card, so:
- Wildfire starts resolving
- Each player sacrifices 4 lands
- Titania's 2nd ability triggers 4 times, but doesn't go on the stack yet (because Wildfire hasn't finished resolving)
- Wildfire deals 4 damage to all creatures (killing Titania)
- Wildfire finishes resolving
- 4 Titania triggers go on the stack and will eventually create 4 5/3s
I dismissed this card when I first read it, but I stumbled upon her again, and noticed I missed her interactions with fetch lands.
I think I want to test her out now. In double fetch land cube, probability of her being a rampant growth + two 5/3's + future upside seems pretty high.
Has anyone tested Titania yet? I have 41 cards that destroy lands, including some that you probably wouldn't use on yourself like molten rain. I'm worried that most of the time she is just a 5/3 for 5 that might return a fetchland. The ceiling is clearly high with armageddon, ravages of war, wildfire, burning of xinye, dust bowl etc. I think she is worth testing.

On spoiled card wishlisting and 'should-have-had'-isms:
This would be absolutely hilarious with Terastodon though.

She works well with fetches and Strip Mine. She can provide a very large amount of immediate value if you have those things in place.
I'll be testing her at 720 over Vorapede.

Oh, and Greater Gargadon :p.

Are you sure these don't work? I think they all happen simultaneously when the spell resolves, the wording is just about the order of choices.

I still think Silverheart is the nuts!
This play is so unintuitive, it's amazing. Love it.

In fact, she has uber synergies with every color:
Red: Wildfire, Greater Gargadon
White: Armageddon, Knight of the Reliquary
Black: Bloodghast, Braids, Cabal Minion
Blue: Mana Vortex (I play it, its basically amazing)
She makes Dryad Arbor a much more appealing card to play.
Do the tokens live?

Comes from my old old days of playing decks with 4 balances and 4 strip mines and shorting my own lands to semi-Armageddon.
