When ~ deals combat damage to a player, exile any number of target nonland permanents you control, then return those cards to the battlefield under their owner's control.
2/4
The body is only decent, but it makes for an absolutely amazing blink enabler. Aside from the more pedestrian FTK blink antics, you can also swing in with him, blink your whole team, and wrath. We already play Venser for more or less the same thing - this might be a good upgrade.
Having to live for a turn before doing anything is kind of rough though. I think I would play Venser over this for the more "guaranteed" value of being able to blink instantly. How often do you generally control more than 1 card that gains value by being blinked? Because that might be the deciding factor for whether this is worth the other risks and downsides.

An accurate description of myself:
Quote from Megiddo »
You're the dude who just lies a lot and makes people hate you and then magically becomes town later, right?
I like that at the very least, he gives your team (and himself) pseudo-vigilance if he hits. Still, I worry he's too conditional. He needs to be able to hit more than one good permanent on a regular basis to be a cubeworthy option. Only hitting a lifegain trigger makes him a bad Vampire Nighthawk; only hitting a Wall of Omens makes him a bigger but multicolored Thieving Magpie.
I think his upside might be enough for him to sneak him into larger multicolored sections, but smaller cubes would probably prefer something with more definite value.
Seems worse than Galepowder Mage to me. It hits for 3, has an easier cost, is only one color, doesn't have to connect to trigger and can kill tokens/remove blockers.
I think it needed to be a 4/4 or cost three cmc to be of interest in our cube, as it is not guaranteed that one can abuse the trigger enough to make it worthwhile. It's worse than Restoration Angel, Glimmerpoint Stag and Galepowder Mage at that cmc in mono-white, IMO.
Which is why us over here in the cube forum aren't as excited for it as those who are playing Commander are. I think if you posted that over in the EDH forum, they'd be more inclined to agree with you.
This part really needs to be named "Cube New Card Discussion" or something. Also, BNG cards shouldn't be in here any more.
On topic, I like him as a card, and would love to run him with a bunch of morph dudes. Regrettably, most morph dudes aren't really cubeable, and Venser just does this guys job so much better, if less flashy.

Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
I don't think that this is good enough, but I do think it's better than Venser. It's kind of a dead horse, but I do really think Venser should only be in cubes if you're looking for a wacky, synergy driven card in that slot. This could certainly compete for that particular slot as it's conditionally insane and extremely synergy driven.
Also, there's a good reason that born cards are still in new card discussion - the new sets were originally just moved to Card/Archetype discussion when they were released, but for the first couple months after a set is released you still get rather preliminary notions of how good the cards are as people are still testing them out.
Also, this forum is in >The Game>The Cube Forum>Card and archetype discussion>New Card Discussion, I think it's pretty clear
I don't think it's better than Venser. Not even close. I admit that Venser only fits in certain niches, but those niches decks do happen and in them he excels. This card is not as good as monocolored alternatives. Pass.

The thing is, when it shows up on the main page it only shows the "new card discussion" part, so it can be pretty easy to miss that its cube. It seems like it happens every 5th thread or so.

I love the blink archetype and heavily support it in my tier 2 cube. Its always a lot of fun. From a pure powerlevel perspective however, Brago doesnt crack into the top 10 of a highly competetive azorius section.
Soulherder might've been the nail in Brago's coffin for the cube.
I came in here to say this exact thing. I ran Brago in my low power cube to support blink and tempo archetypes in UW and UWx decks and I've made the swap to Soulherder. Brago is a bit more powerful in vacuum. He's a flyer, he can exile multiple things to generate more value, but being cheaper and getting the blink effect on the turn he comes down is a really nice upside to Soulherder. I think that outweighs the potential value lost by exiling multiple permanents with Brago.
im trying to support blink archetype as a subtheme to add more variety.
brago would seem to go well with UW tempo//skies in my cube. I'll try running soulherder and brago.
I agree that Soulherder is often better than Brago, but the fact that it is so killable and has no benefits in a vacuum other than slowly, slowly growing larger kills it for my environment. I could also just cut Brago and bring back Geist of Saint Traft, but I'd like to benefit the flicker decks with 1 azorius card.
Brago doesn't just support flicker either. He holds equipment well, doubles the mana of your rocks, and resets your planeswalkers after a minus ability. He plays well in archetypes I have been trying to bolster, like Super Friends. The biggest downsides are that if they have a bigger flyer, he doesn't really do anything, and that while he doesn't die to bolt, he dies to everything else. But, at least for a few more tests, I think he's the pick for me.

A mediocore body for it's cost that requires it to connect to do a conditionally very powerful effect is NOT strong enough for cube.
Especially since it trades down against removal, vulnerable to wrath etc.
Cool card though.

Also, the name is more like Brago or Braggo. "Breigo" is due to the source being in Japanese.

I think Brago is pretty good for what it does. Again, blinking a walker to get a second use can't be scoffed at.
BTW, how does one think of a top 20 Azorius cards and not include Brago. Exaggerate much?
