Agreed, Terastodon just does a lot more. Stonehoof Chieftain is a solid creature, but not amazing. If it just granted Indestructible to all creatures, so that you were wrath-proof, it'd be worth considering. As it stands, this is worse than Spearbreaker Behemoth, which hasn't made the cut in a while.

Great discussion, folks. Thanks for the help.
Most of my playgroup's reluctance to run Terastodon ATM comes from its ability to destroy lands. They're so scarred from previous Sylvan Primordial shenanigans that they don't want to put themselves in situations where they can wack people's lands. I'm wondering if Woodfall Primus might be a decent halfway house as a solution (even though it's got a more restrictive CC)...
I'm all for cutting Sundering Growth and Kaervek but replace them with real cards :P.
Haha! Fair enough... out of curiosity, what do you consider "real cards" in Selesnya and Rakods that I'm not already running? I'm aware I don't have Mirari's Wake, Knight of the Reliquary and Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast - they've been out so far mostly for budget reasons. Anything at a decent price that I've whiffed on?
Terastodon's LD potential isn't terribly worrying, because it's a purely optional trigger, and it givss your opponent something in exchange for the thing that is destroyed. This means it's unlikely to be used to destroy basics or simple dual lands, since the tradeoff is often not worthwhile, and you are never forced to destroy lands (while with S. Prime you could be if the player had no other noncreature permanents).
That said, Woodfall Primus is a great creature too.

I'd say Aristocrat and, maybe, Storm's Fury bit too niche/weak for a multiplayer theater. I'd personally consider some of the following that are in budget range for Rakdos:
For Selesnya, I'd say that the sundering growth effect is better relegated to a more mundane white or green spot (multicolor stuff should be more splashy and less utilitarian, IMO). I'd say that vitu-ghazi guildmage might be too expensive, and the spot better spent on a direct token producer. Finally, armadillo cloak may be too weak for multiplayer, unless you're running a ton of hexproof stuff.
Here are some budget selesnya cards I'd toss into consideration:
Like many of you, I have extra "bonus packs"/"modules" to add to the draft with Lore Seeker. This is a very convenient way to treat aspects of magic that are fun to include at times, but aren't worth making part of the core cube experience. I have a bonus pack of conspiracies, and I am working on putting together one of unhinged cards.
My playgroup was interested in a booze-cube style custom draft where drinking is incorporated as a game mechanic, so I put together a custom module to support that. I tried to give each color its own feel in terms of how it interacts with sobriety as a resource. I also used conspiracies to make sure that everyone gets to drink, even if you don't draw any of the 3-4 cards you picked from the bonus pack.

I'd run both Primus and Terastodon given that they're both stellar fatties.
Don't sweat the later's ability to nuke lands. In practice it's rarely-if-ever going to ruin games. The card isn't Sylvan-father 2.0.
For multicolor cards I recommend the gold guide linked in my sig. It's what I personally use.
After combing through the decklists for C16, between reprints and new cards I have about 38-40 cards I need to find spots for, not including generals. (Those are easier to figure out, and many have new slots made for them)
This is gonna be miserable to comb through and figure put cuts. I suppose it's a tragedy of riches on a few ways, but I miss when my cube ran bad enough cards that finding cuts was always easy.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
Feedback on three KLD cards that have made it into my cube. Cultivator's Caravan is very good. I was previously running Opaline Unicorn, and this is a Unicorn with a far more relevant body that is capable of living through boardwipes. The Caravan has already run a few token creatures over. Combustible Gearhulk is as ridiculous as it looks. We had it turn up in a 3-on-3 team game this week. On resolution, the opponent picked the damage, and it handed them 9 to the face. Then he stuck Blade of Selves on it the next turn. Wreckage. His opponents handed him six cards, he knocked two blockers off the table and a third Gearhulk got through for the five damage. It was pretty destructive.
I drafted Gonti, Lord of Luxury in an artifact-heavy Dimir control deck and suited it up for its first ride. It promptly ripped Snapcaster Mage out of an opponent's library. And I then resolved Snappy to flashback a counterspell a few turns later, stopping the same opponent's 20+pt Comet Storm. That may end up being close to Gonti's Magical Christmasland level, but man... if it even approaches that level of play each time, it's a keeper alright.
Oh, and from the same game, for lulz...
1) I have Chainer, Dementia Master in play with piles of open mana.
2) Opponent attacks with a 2/2 Zombie token wearing SoFaI, hoping for cards and damage.
3) Chainer flashes out the Acidic Slime in my teammate's graveyard that the opponent forgot about.
4) Slime piffs the Sword on ETB, and then blocks and kills the Zombie token.
5) Opponent winces, teammates golf-clap.
I think the first 2 are legitimately playable. The rest, depends on your group I think.
Symbol status is, interestingly, very dependent on what you run for basic lands. Mine are all BFZ, so it's fairly disappointing I imagine. Richard garfield is definitely playable, be he makes the cubing part matter a lot less. (At least in EDH cube as the general)

IMHO, you should keep the wolf run and swap out terramorphic. Wolf run isn't the sexiest card on a cursory look, but it is just so damn good at breaking up board stalls, and turning the most pissant token creature into a huge threat.
100% agree with Dolono. Cutting one of the best Gruul cards for Ash Barrens seems weak. I would probably cheat a little with your cube sorting and put Kessig Wolf Run into the Gruul section (since it really is a Gruul card) and cut Gruul Charm which seems mediocre.
Oh, I agree - I loves me some KWR. But no-one, and I mean no-one was drafting or decking it. TBH, I get the feeling that it's fallen foul of my current Gruul archetypes, which lean heavily towards tokens (thanks to Xenagos, Sarkhan Vol and Dragonlair Spider). It looks like no-one particularly wants to Wolf Run a token. The balance is also skewed away from game-winning fatties in my cube ATM - blue appears to have a couple too many steal effects in its arsenal right now, so a lot of green and/or red players have played their creatures worthy of getting the Wolf Run treatment, only to see them dragged over to the other side of the board.
So KWR is probably a victim of my cube's balance right now. But I'm certainly not forgetting it... I'll probably find ways of sneaking it back in at some point.
Merry Christmas to all!

We recently converted our cube to EDH inspired by many of your efforts. Really having a great time with it. Please draft it if you have time and leave me a comment on cubetutor if you have suggestions. I posted how we have been drafting it in the blog section.
Paradox Engine vs. Eldrazi Monument? Engine is awesome, but it may be too narrow in cube. Monument has dished out match wins before.
Planar Bridge vs. Staff of Nin? Is the Bridge too slow? No question it's better if you've got the time and space.
Trophy Mage vs. Daring Apprentice? Trophy Mage is good but narrow - it can fetch 12 things out of my cube (most importantly, the five Swords).
Yahenni, Undying Partisan vs. Phyrexian Crusader? Yahenni is good, but trying to get into a really tight slot. The Crusader is good, and plays well with the Knight Tribal in my cube.
Paradox Engine vs. Eldrazi Monument? Engine is awesome, but it may be too narrow in cube. Monument has dished out match wins before.
Planar Bridge vs. Staff of Nin? Is the Bridge too slow? No question it's better if you've got the time and space.

I'm not totally sold on either Oath or Cloak, so I guess I'd keep cloak.
Eldrazi Monument seems better than Paradox Engine unless you run a TOOOON of mana dorks and rocks plus some ways to draw cards from tapping permanents like Slate of Ancestry.
Planar Bridge seems like it should go in over a similar card like Ring of Three Wishes, Citanul Flute, or Planar Portal if you run any of those. If none of those make the cut already then I can't see Bridge making it. Staff seems too good to cut, it generates a TON of value from a one-time investment.
I'd definitely take the Trophy Mage over the Daring Apprentice. Apprentice is basically a slow Cancel that can be killed by Staff of Nin. That sounds *really* bad.
I'm not totally sold on Yahenni or Crusader either. Crusader needs a lot of infect to support it or a TON of power-buffing equipment. Yahenni is a solid sac outlet but that's about it. I'd consider something like Flesh Carver long before either.

I really don't see the power in Pia's Revolution. Even in artifact decks, you won't always want to play it and that is it's only home. I would try to add a Mizzium Mortars as a globally powerful card that can go anywhere, getting value early and late.
Unsure
If Mirari's Wake isn't an option, I'd go for Cloak over Oath.
I'd rather keep Eldrazi Monument in, as the engine seems really narrow.
Bridge is too slow I believe and I'd rather keep the Staff for reliable value.
Trophy Mage seems a ton better than the apprentice.
With only 2 knights in black, how often do you splash black in your knight tribal decks? I would probably enjoy Yahenni better as he goes into more decks. But as Wildfire says, I'd run other cards before both: Flesh Carver, Ophiomancer, Fleshbag Marauder.
Hi everyone! Can I please trouble the forum for some thoughts on a bunch of cuts I would like to make to my edh cube? I'm interested in getting it to where 8 players can draft 5 packs of 14 cards (main cube) + 1 general seeded per pack (a reduction of about 40 cards in my case). I have a few different schemes in mind, which I've listed below.
Any advice on cards that have been better in practice than on paper is certainly appreciated as well!
Possible Cuts:
Scheme 1 (40 cards) - 1 from each of WUBRG, 2 from each multicolor, 25 colorless cuts
Scheme 2 (40 cards) - 2 from each of WUBRG, 1 from each multicolor, 20 colorless cuts
Scheme 3 (40 cards) - 4 from each of WUBRG, 1 from each multicolor, 10 colorless cuts
Scheme 4 (25 cards) - 1 from each of WUBRG, add booster tutor to black, 1 from each multicolor, 10 colorless cuts

The other thing I've managed to do is finalized my 15-card Conspiracy module! Yay!
Surprisingly, there actually wasn't a "Here's how to build a Conspiracy module" thread, so I made one. You can head in there and pull my theories and choices to pieces.
For those who can't be bothered making the jump, my 15 are Backup Plan, Worldknit, Double Stroke, Sovereign's Realm, Hymn of the Wilds, Arcane Savant, Volatile Chimera, Caller of the Untamed, Regicide, Queen Marchesa, Throne of the High City, Skyline Despot, Custodi Lich, Keeper of Keys and Regal Behemoth.
The best part? Of all of these cards, Queen Marchesa is currently the only thing over $1 a copy (and even she is currently only $4.50). This whole module seriously cost less than $20 to throw together.

Some of the rationals behind cuts are
a. Thinning out cards that are better in mono-colored decks (Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Gauntlet of Power, etc)
b. Cards that are better in more combo-y environments (doubling cube, dramatic reversal)
c. General under performers (bloodsoaked champion, nahiri, the lithomancer, Grim Haruspex, Drana, Liberator of Malakir)
d. Cards from the mythical "artifact.dec" that has just never seemed to materialize (Muzzio, Chief Engineer)
e. Expensive CMC stuff (Drogskol Reaver, Akroma, Angel of Fury)
