Thanks for the quick feedback!
Good call on Flamekin Village. I had forgotten about it. I also really like Anger. I feel it also "signals" better as red has GY payoff and synergies.
You are right for Wheel. It just didn't see much play lately so it got me thinking that maybe I was off on my evaluation.
I like all 3 for different reasons (and therefore maybe my cut is elsewhere). Zealot is fine early and late but I really like that it can smooth out draws in the early game. But he might just be the weakest of the bunch. Aetherborn is the strongest of the 3, but is also less interesting since it's pretty generic. Plus there is the double black CC. But it's awesome early and late. Graverobber is a great mana sink and decent disruption, which is a lot for a 2 drop. I really don't think he is the cut.
Drake Haven in cube? Blue has tons of support for it, so do other colors. It seems like a sweet build around, but it is slow. Vizier of Tumbling Sands: If Haven goes in, this guy could be decent. He cycles with upside, ramps and can even fuel nice Birthing Pod plays. Is he too low impact/power?
If you had to rank these? I think really like Polukranos, Vengevine and Oracle. The others are also great, but I could see myself cutting them. Raptor seems weakest, but I want to support Wildfire archetype (but maybe Polukranos is enough?).
Does anyone have experience with stax/prison archetypes in cube?
My playgroup said they were open to try for a while. I"m trying this for a 3 player FFA cube (one in signature is out of date).
I'm missing Cataclysm, but I think it is just too difficult to defend against, so I don't want to include it. The white package can easily tie into aggro decks and I think it's important to have some cross between archetypes. I avoided Ghostly Prison and such, because I'm not a huge fan of how it plays out. But maybe I should be in a new mindset with the prison package.
The cards here tie nicely with the sacrifice deck. I'd like a few more discard effects (thinking about Arterial Flow or Syphon Mind. I'm just not sure that the latter is worth it in 3 player FFAs).
The artifact deck can use the Wildfires to get a mana advantage, as well as complementing whites LD strategy. I could see myself cutting one of these for a Keldon Firebombers, but I'm afraid it could get out of hand with blink effects. Maybe Ember Swallower is an option? Ruination seems like a tougher to build around Armageddon, but might still be worth it!
Multicolored:
[card]Assemble the Legion
Angrath, the Flame-Chained[/card]
A wincon and some more discard.
Razia's Purification is super powerful, but feels a little like Cataclysm, in that it will drag out games and is tough to build around. There is also Catch/Release, but it seems overpriced at 6 mana. Lastly Sire of Insanity might be a better fit than Angrath. It just feels like there is less play to him than the planeswalker.
Dominaria has me super excited, though I don't know that many cards will be coming into the cube. So many cards are more interesting than exciting - the art's great, and the flavor is off the charts. I'm looking forward to pre-releasing the set and potentially drafting.
What's Exciting: Lyra Dawnbringer - I don't have a Baneslayer Angel, but if I did, it would be an easy swap. Everyone loves angels, and Lyra's a great one. Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar - Big green beaters with landfall potential make me and Omnath excited. Blackblade Reforged - Maybe it's too expensive to equip, but it's a huge boost on a cheap to cast equipment, and the more flavor the better. Karn, Scion of Urza - Karn's a card advantage engine and artifact support that doesn't require too much set up. Might replace Coercive Portal, but voting is a lot of fun. Muldrotha, the Gravetide - I love graveyards, Muldrotha loves graveyards. Now the hard part is to find the switch.
What's Possible: Demonlord Belzenlok - Painful black card draw on a body is nice, and the guarantee of business spells is promising. It might be too generic, however. Josu Vess, Lich Knight - That kicker is sweet and super fun, but the normal body is just so...boring. Wish I had an interest in knight tribal. Jaya Ballard - Triple red is tough to swallow, but her ultimate is great and rummaging ability is a nice alternative to her first ability. Squee, the Immortal - Is a cube without a Squee really worth it? A nice recursive option to have, though it might not have enough payoff. Teferi, Hero of Dominaria - Definitely a powerful card, but it might be too generic for a multicolored card, especially competing with Venser, the Sojourner. Grand Warlord Radha - A dedicated ramp general that feeds off creatures, so maybe it will work better than Wort, the Raidmother? Shalai, Voice of Plenty - Not sure if she is worth it, as hexproof is annoying to play with, but the counter ability is exciting. Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain - Very cool psudo-artifact general that looks amazing, but might be too bland. Still, Izzet artifact commander!
Just wanted to report back on Profane Procession // Tomb of the Dusk Rose, as it's a card that has generated a lot of discussion and debate.
Basically, it's one of the highest picks in RIX Limited, and the only discussion was over whether it was going to be too slow for Multiplayer cube.
Having seen it in action the other night, I can now say that it isn't. It's slow, sure, but it dominates board position while it's out, and it flipped in one of the two games I saw it appear in. Looks like it would be really, really good in some of the grindier Orzhov archetypes, but definitely playable in all of them.
Can I get some recommendations on supporting aggro in a multiplayer, commander cube?
I've been working on revamping the cube in general, but midrange and control continue dominate. I know the format gears itself towards longer games anyways, but have you all had any success with supporting other, more aggressive strategies?

I'd agree - it's an eternal struggle to get aggressive kill strategies working in Multiplayer Cube.
If I were to recommend going down any route ATM, I'd probably advocate BR token strategies, along with damage on creatures entering and/or leaving the battlefield. That means Purphoros, God of the Forge, Impact Tremors, Zulaport Cutthroat, Blood Artist, a few others.. along with all the token production (e.g. Pia and Kiran Nalaar, anything that makes a million goblin tokens (e.g. Siege-Gang Commander), anything that makes a million zombie tokens (e.g. Cryptbreaker, Ghoulcaller Gisa)).
I've seen that work pretty well in normal Multiplayer - it can clean out an entire table pretty quickly. I just have no idea who the commander would be. I guess you'd probably lean towards Lyzolda, the Blood Witch, Tymaret, the Murder King or Vial Smasher the Fierce.

Thanks for the feedback! Token seems like a great bet, as does any strategy that doesn't have to focus on a single opponent. I have a feeling aggro will center around BR and RW, though RW centers more about equipment for its own tokens. Vial Smasher the Fierce seems the best for this kind of thing, though tokens feed well into the sacrifice theme, and I know others who have had success with Olivia, Mobilized for War.

Thinking more about it, I also wouldn't dismiss a BW bleeder/lifegain strategy, either. Vizkopa Guildmage is that good.
Huh, I hadn't thought about that. I wonder if that could feed into a more aggressive bleeder strategy. Is the guildmage really that good? It seems like it would take quite a bit of mana just to start the bleeding. I may have enough incidental lifegain in the cube to support it without pouring resources into the guildmage. This might be my inexperience with the card talking though.
I'm going to be revamping and updating my cube when commander 2018 releases, so expect a lot more questions from me in the coming month or so!

Yeah, exactly that - there is usually enough incidental lifegain floating around that it just sits there and does work for not a lot of mana.
I have a story further back in the thread where I was playing a 2HG game with the other team on 30. I had Wurmcoil Engine wearing SoLaS, snuck it through to their face using Rogue's Passage, and activated Vizkopa Guildmage's first ability to hand it lifelink. So they lose 8, we gain 11. I've then got exactly three mana left to activate the Guildmage's second ability - they lose 11 each, 22 total, putting them on exactly 0. GG.
In my cube, the Guildmage is already suiting up alongside Zulaport Cutthroat, Auriok Champion, Sunscorch Regent, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim and Karlov of the Ghost Council, so WB lifegain is very much the real deal as a strategy. You throw the Guildmage on top of that, and it lights the fire.
And yeah, chuck all the questions in here! We all drift in and out a bit, but there'll be someone around to answer at the very least!
Alright, you've convinced me (though that may be love of Wurmcoil Engine talking) - my cube's up for a big update with the new commander decks coming out, and a BW bleeder package will be coming in. I do love these quirky takes on aggro, whether token pinging or draining opponent's lives away. It's a fun take on the old formula.
Mnemonic Betrayal in for Dragonlord Silumgar(Dimir has always felt like it's got one steal spell too many, and Dragonlord Silly probably isn't good enough to break into my Dimir generals - currently Grimgrin and Oona)
Cindervines in for Clan Defiance: No-one is running Defiance. Let's see if they want to try a different hate card.
Electrodominance in for Fall of the Titans: Bonkers card is bonkers. Basically does what Fall of the Titans does, but drops another threat on the table instead of burning a second player.
Rhythm of the Wild in for Huntmaster of the Fells: This card is simply too bonkers to leave out. Huntmaster is one of those weird cards that people love or hate, and it's going through its hate phase right now.
Smothering Tithe in for Worship: This card is basically too obnoxious to leave out, and Worship is the weakest link at this CMC.
Sphinx of the Guildpact in for Endbringer: Well, Endbringer has been fun (he proved to be Mother of Runes' mortal enemy for one, but this is just a seven-mana beatstick - there are literally going to only be 15 cards in the main 360 that can deal with it.
Sage of Epityr > Benthic Biomancer: Sage is strong in my cube because of the wizard tribal theme, but not strong enough. I am quite thankful for the new addition, it's great for Marchesa, Atraxa and has some neat random synergies with Nissa or Hadana's Climb. Mardu Shadowspear > Gutterbones: These attackers that do 1 damage to each opponent are all playable, but still quite weak when the board is cluttered. Shadowspear still has the possibility to abuse it for "cast" triggers like Extort, but Gutterbones can also offer such a functionality since it recurs to hand and is the better attacker. Comet Storm > Electrodominance Comet Storm is a hard cut, but I like the flexibility of Electrodominance too much. ETB-creatures with instant speed can be a blowout! Gyre Sage > Incubation Druid: I am quite sure that the new Druid will be a strong multiplayer addition. Joraga Treespeaker is the green Sol Ring - and Incubation Druid may be known as green Gilded Lotus! Craterhoof Behemoth > End-Raze Forerunners: Vigilance is very important in multiplayer and I guess with some tokens this can finish off one player but doesn't open your flanks against the rest of the table. Natural Order > Guardian Project: Natural Order is very strong, but my cube doesn't have many degenerate targets, but a heavy etb theme and the new enchantment fits that much better. Huntmaster of the Fells > Rhythm of the Wild: Rhythm, sac outlet and a persist creature? Oh yeah! Huntmaster is not that strong in multiplayer where it more often than not stagnates and doesn't flip. Xenagos, the Reveler > Domri, Chaos Bringer: Xenagos has a neat ultimate with Doubling Season, but Domri has so, too. And Domri draws you gas, which Xenagos doesn't.
And for commanders Olivia Voldaren > Judith, the Scourge Diva: Olivia 1.0 is a very strong card in 1vs1 drafting, but in multiplayer she often does nothing before the next sweeper removes her.
Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I posted here (long enough that it appears MTG Salvation deleted my old profile). I took a break from MTG for about 2.5 years and I'm just starting to get back into it. I had built a multiplayer cube that I used to play with friends and it was a lot of fun and I'd like to make some updates to it. I'm planning to go back and read the last several pages of this thread, but if you wouldn't mind helping me with a few things, I'd really appreciate it.
What are some of the can't miss cards from the last couple years? I'm pretty sure I stopped playing around Battle for Zendikar block but I might have a few random singles from beyond that set.
If you don't mind taking a lot at my list (CubeTutor link is in my signature), are there any cards you'd recommend me taking out because they aren't that exciting?
Also, I'm considering converting my cube to an EDH cube. Commander is super popular with my friends and I feel like we might like it better than a traditional multiplayer cube. Any advice for going about that? I think there are (or were, at least) a few different ways to draft commanders. Any advice the best way to run an EDH draft?
Hey, good to see you back.
I'm going to let someone else let you know about the new staples, because I avoid some (most) of them due to power level. So I haven't actually tested them out.
However looking at your cube, here is what I find "meh"
Arial Responder - Too vanilla for my taste. I think white has better alternatives
Frost Titan - Compared to other 6+CC cards in your cube, this card seems very tame.
Liliana's Specter - Not bad, but not exciting
Foul Renewal - Seems like an expensive recursion spell for no reason
Morbid Curiosity - Black has better card draw and better sac outlets than what this offers imo
Braid of Fire - Seems super niche
Ashcloud Phoenix - Vulnerable and not that easy to recur. There is a new phoenix from Ixalan: Rekindling Phoenix that seems more abusable
Deadbridge Goliath - Not bad, but not great either. I'd rather see something like Vizier of the Menagerie
Mindswipe - Holding up a lot of mana for a conditional counterspell doesn't get me going.
Other than that I could see myself playing most of the cards no questions asked. Sure some are missing from more recent sets, but this still looks fun.

I achieved this by adding a 40-card module onto the side of my 360 that were all commanders. This consisted of a single mono-coloured commander for each colour, two for each guild/two-colour combo, one for each three-colour combo, and five more random ones to make the 40 (in my cube, the last five are a colourless general, a five-colour general, and three of the better four-colour generals).
To draft, I dish these out in five-card boosters and draft them first (you can draft them last, but it freaks people out and you'll get complaints... if they've gone hard at a particular colour combination and can't get the general to match, there will be wailing).
While choosing your potential commander first limits what you're drafting out of the main 360 to an extent, I find it also makes people think a little harder about hate-drafting (e.g. "There's nothing left in there that works with the commander I want to use... oh wait, that card would screw me").
A while ago, I built a Two-Headed Giant micro-cube (140 cards) around Battlebond partners and other multiplayer mechanics. Is this the thread I would use to get feedback/suggestions on that?

Sure, why not?
We're all drifting in and out, as you can probably tell, but we'll give it a crack.
I haven't posted here in ages, but this is the perfect place for a few questions I have:
Disrupt Decorum: This seems like a great board stall breaker, but how does it play out in practice? Is the first guy who has to attack just dead afterwards or is this card just too inconsistent?
Risk Factor: Have any of you played this? Seems like it could be decent in a few situations and the "flashback" is fun for GY decks. Is this more of a "depends on your players" type card?
Spitting Image: This card is really slow and probably too low power, but it fits into a lot of archetypes and is hybrid. Any recent experiences with it?
Trading Post: Same thoughts as above, slow and clunky but with lots of utility. I really like that it's a colorless discard outlet as white could get some help binning cards for Miraculous Recovery, Karmic Guide and Reveillark among others.

Late reply because I never got a notification, but I might as well post, now that we only have one month of MTGSalvation left.
The cube is for exactly four players and follows a modified Battlebond drafting structure - 10 packs of 14 cards; each pack contains a partner pair, a colorless card, a gold card, and ten random cards. Teams draft two cards from each pack before passing to the other team. Once all packs have been drafted, each team divides their cards and builds two decks. Play by regular 2HG rules.
There aren't really firm archetypes, but card choices were based on synergy with partner mechanics (Knights/Dragons, coin flip, counters, tokens, lifegain, etc.) and what seemed interesting for 2HG interactions (i.e. - things like Battalion that can count your teammate's attackers, Surge that counts your teammate's spells, things that hurt each opponent for double damage to opposing team, ways to give your teammate mana, etc.).
Junktroller is there to tuck a dead partner in hopes that the other partner can search it out again.
If anyone has suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them. Unfortunately, you can't really get the right draft experience through Cubetutor because of the special pack layout.
Good call on Flamekin Village. I had forgotten about it. I also really like Anger. I feel it also "signals" better as red has GY payoff and synergies.

My 450ish 1vs1 cube

In my mind this centers around the Mardu wedge.
In white, I have:

Along with some recursive creatures.

In red I have:
With some tokens, planeswalkers and a few value creatures (Tuktuk the Explorer, Squee, Goblin Nabob).
Multicolored:
Angrath, the Flame-Chained[/card]
A wincon and some more discard.
Colorless:
I probably missed a bunch, but you get the idea.
So any thoughts or experiences with this archetype?

Thanks for the feedback! Token seems like a great bet, as does any strategy that doesn't have to focus on a single opponent. I have a feeling aggro will center around BR and RW, though RW centers more about equipment for its own tokens. Vial Smasher the Fierce seems the best for this kind of thing, though tokens feed well into the sacrifice theme, and I know others who have had success with Olivia, Mobilized for War.
Probably can get some milage out of Warstorm Surge, Vicious Shadows, and Pandemonium, though the latter might backfire slightly.
Nearly mentioned Olivia 2.0, yeah. She's one of my commanders.
And yes, can confirm Pandemonium is dangerous.
Thinking more about it, I also wouldn't dismiss a BW bleeder/lifegain strategy, either. Vizkopa Guildmage is that good.

And for commanders
Olivia Voldaren > Judith, the Scourge Diva: Olivia 1.0 is a very strong card in 1vs1 drafting, but in multiplayer she often does nothing before the next sweeper removes her.
My 450ish 1vs1 cube
Without thinking too hard about things...
1) The cards I have added to the Best Multiplayer Cards List since BfZ - Blade of Selves, Meren of Clan Nel Toth, Grasp of Fate, Eldrazi Displacer, Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, Zulaport Cutthroat, Selvala's Stampede, Leovold, Emissary of Trest, Expropriate, Panharmonicon, Rashmi, Eternities Crafter. Be aware that some of those have exploded in price since I added them.
2) Cards I would probably add since I got too busy/lazy to hold votes for this (i.e. Amonkhet forward) - Anointed Procession, Glorybringer, Hour of Promise, Primal Amulet, Angrath, the Flame-Chained, Elenda, the Dusk Rose, The Immortal Sun, Runic Armasaur, Thousand-Year Storm, Biomancer's Familiar, Cindervines, Rhythm of the Wild, Wilderness Reclamation. Of course, this list is much more subjective (because you're relying solely on me).

Sure, why not?
We're all drifting in and out, as you can probably tell, but we'll give it a crack.

Thanks for the help!
My 450ish 1vs1 cube
The cube is for exactly four players and follows a modified Battlebond drafting structure - 10 packs of 14 cards; each pack contains a partner pair, a colorless card, a gold card, and ten random cards. Teams draft two cards from each pack before passing to the other team. Once all packs have been drafted, each team divides their cards and builds two decks. Play by regular 2HG rules.
And here's the cube: http://www.cubetutor.com/visualspoiler/112410

I'll discuss my recent adds when I get a chance. Until then, I'm starting to take people on a journey through my multiplayer cube.

What did everyone add for ELD?
I believe I'm actually at zero adds for this set (which astounds me)...
