Cubes are running a TON of good lifegain effects these days. Between Batterskull, Baneslayer Angel, Sphinx's Revaltion, Thragtusk, and the like, the gain is the new "in" thing.

The double red cost is a bit annoying, but it has 2 power (good), Wither (good), and shuts the lifegain down. Period.

I'm thinking of adding it to my red section, where red aggro is kind of a big deal, and it's had some issues with the lifegain.

What do you think?

Too narrow an upside to make up for the crappy casting cost with no first strike or double strike.

I'd rather run Blood Knight or something similar.


Maybe in the future when we will all run a lot more lifegain, but the critical amount is not there.

Definitely isn't a high enough density of high lifegaining cards. Sure there are 10 or so bomby life gain cards, but the chance your opponent has one in his deck is pretty low.

I wouldn't run this even if I was sure my opponent had one bomby life gain card. If a lot of decks have multiple quality lifegain cards the nmaybe, but we would need double the amount of lifegainers at least.

If my opponent had thragtusk, batterskull and baneslayer i would run this.

Indeed, I would too. But in most cubes it would just be a crappy sideboard card.

We agree on that. I guess I should have put that they even have one is a low chance and that they would need to have at least 2 or three for me to even sideboard this.

If it had haste, it might be good for the mono-red deck.

Haste second keyword 2/2 for 2 in red is purdy good. ala ash zealot.
