Card Type: Legendary Creature
Creature Type: Angel
Power/Toughness: 3/4
Casting Cost: 2RRWW
Card Text: Flying, vigilance, haste
Whenever Aurelia, the Warleader attacks for the first time each turn, untap all creatures you control. After this phase, there is an additional combat phase.
At first I wasn't very impressed with this card, but after discussing it with one of the other people I cube with who's opinion I respect a lot, I have completely changed my perspective on it. It's basically a six power, vigilance, haste flyer at minimum, and if you have any other creatures out it can come out of nowhere and end the game right on the spot. It might be in an awkward spot on the curve as it's a six-drop that wants additional creatures out, but it's probably powerful enough by itself that it should be considered as a card to build around. Craterhoof Behemoth was a card I judged similarly, and that card has been ending games left and right here like nobody's business.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
The double attack is cute, but it really only benefits you when you when you have creatures out that can attack successfully and you have dropped a multicolor 6 drop. This doesn't seem like a situation where players lose too much. I'm trying to think of decks where I would run it over the following:
I put Gisela in RW as a 'bomb' and this thing is arguably better based on casting cost alone. Gisela's effect is possibly better (you do 2x damage, they do 1/2 damage) but naturally casting her is very hard. At 6cc, Aureila is bonkers. It appears to be the RW finisher I've been looking for. Unless there's BETTER in RW from the upcoming set (RTR was extremely generous to certain guilds), this looks like auto-include material for me.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
The card is bad, but so is Boros after Ajani Vengeant, I hope we get a couple Boros play toys.
Figure of Destiny is awesome and Slayer's Stronghold is good. I think RW is pretty solid up to 4-5 cards. Not that I wouldn't like a couple stronger Boros cards. Aurelia, however, is not one of those cards. RW is usually aggro--probably more than 75% of the time--and aggro decks don't usually want six drops.
I dont think it is a finisher.
It creates no card advantage when it enters the battlefield which I think a six drop should.
It has no impact on an even board.
Its only good on a board you are already ahead.
I'm not sure about this. It has haste, so at worst you're looking at double combat involving her. At best, she breaks open boards because you have 2 combats to their 1.
I fully realize this isn't what RW is built for (they are amazing at blitz speed and consistency), but IMO she's that strong 6 drop finisher.
This doesn't even go into the other combination of decks I can see her in archetype-wise.

I like this card but I get the feeling we'll be seeing some aggressive cards coming out of this set, so I don't think this will make the cut at that point. It would be my fifth now if it was out.

Want to Cube but don't have one? Check the map if anyone is in your area and get cubing!
The abilities are certainly strong - she can attack herself for 6 damage and still be able to block. She doesn't match up well in blocking compared to other 6 drops (3/4 versus 5/5-6/6's). Maybe your ground guys can no longer effectively attack by turn 6, so you finish them off with some burn and 6 damage for 6 (maybe hard to reach) mana. I wish her body was a bit bigger than 3/4.
I'm surprised it took so long for someone to post about aurelia when Domri got notice day 1. I think she is good, but costing 6 in boros seems to be a liability, and with 4 good boros cards already: ajani vengeat, lightning helix, slayer's stronghold and Figure of destiny she needs to beat everything in her guild to get in, and we still have a likely planeswalker in her colors(im betting hybrid) So if sadly nothing better gets printed for boros she will prolly make it into my cube, otherwise i don't think her effect is good enough for her cost compared to say inferno or sun titan.
Mediocre mana intensive six drops with big upside and bad worst case scenarios are not what I'm looking for in Boros, especially when almost all the mono colored white or red 5-7 drops are more desirable.
Right now Boros is perhaps the worst guild in Cube. In my cube each guild gets seven cards and it's tough for Boros. That said, I really hope we see better stuff coming for R/W because when it comes to excitement level this is just more of the same Blahros.

boros seems like one of the better guilds to me, but i run a smaller cube. what cards in azorius or izzet are better than the boros options? i would personally have much more trouble getting to seven in those guilds. for boros i'd happily run

You get the worst pun ever award. Boros... and you use blah to make a pun... Bore-os. It has the word bore in it. Come on bro...

That was the joke!
I don't run any of the cards in that list (no PW Cube) except Lightning Helix (also, for my Cube guild cards have to have both in the CC) so maybe my own restrictions are hurting Barfros at the moment but we're content with running cards like Goblin Trenches and Basura until Rav2 block finishes. We're just all hoping we don't finish with those in there as well.

Don't mean to be rude, but it seems like your restrictions are hurting your cube. Are you running Figure in the hybrid section? Slayer's Stronghold in the land section? If you aren't running those two somewhere, your restrictions are costing you really good cards. Also, I'd highly recommend running cards with off-color kicker/flashback as golds. They are usually underwhelming without the option to use the off-color ability.
Back on topic, I like Aurelia but I don't think she brings enough to the table for cube. It also hurts her that she's in one of the two most aggressive guilds. Boros tends not to like 6-drops. The haste helps but I still don't think she'll find enough decks to live in.
The biggest problem with this card is that it doesn't really fit into about 80% of the Boros deck we play in my group. So the only decks it would really be played in is true 5-color creature heavy decks, and they aren't common up here.
I really like the card, but don't think it fits very well in the Boros section and identity of my cube.

My problem is that between Red and White, there are already enough strong late game creatures that this just doesn't seem needed to me. I'd much rather have a creature that pushes an archetype I want to become more prevalent, which this just doesn't do.
What I dislike is that this will probably be an expensive card. We won't Cube it probably but we will still want to get one and, despite the fact that it probably will never get played by anyone, it will still cost way too much.
I think this card is actually really powerful. If you get to attack with it and a couple of other creatures, you should win the game. It seems like a great aggro curve-topper and midrange game-ender.

Yeah its Lightning Angel with Hellkite Charger's ability for free, its definitely a great card.
