I like recruiter and anything else that reminds me of reveillark. I've never played him, but I would definitely test him. I still run Trike and duplicant, who are lovely targets for him. Grabbing hornet queen or deranged hermit in RG seems cool. He may have restrictions on what he can tutor, but he still grabs some of the coolest cards. Not only that, but he's equipable, clampable and sacable. Great utility if you ask me. He seems useful in RG ramp (for some of the army-in-a-can guys or more ramping creatures), RB stax (can fetch braids, 187's, token guys), RU counterburn (grabs snapcaster, manowar, etc), and in white based blink decks (is a great blink target, can fetch more blink targets, can toy around with sun titan and reveillark), which is a lot of maindeckable potential if you ask me.
Is it used in Commander a lot? If so, than there is a slight chance. Otherwise, not at all.
Cheers,

I don't play much commander but I know that tutors are very powerful in the format and you can really abuse this card in a sweet looking commander deck. It would be the most expensive reprint they've done in a long time. But this product is 75 bucks, so here's to hoping :). I don't want to take money away from my imperial seal fund to get it

Best card in my Norin edh deck.
This guy is crazy good in creature combo decks. Fetches kikijiki, duplicant,, kor sky fisher, figure of destiny... yada yada
I have a sweet full art proxy for mine. But I'm looking to get an english one, despite the cost
Its way too expensive to be on the border for me, so I would really like to know what people with extensive experience with him in cube think or whether its just a "ooh cool effect" I dont care if he is bad.
He's good dude. He tutors up a huge list of creatures, helps you curve out, grabs utility creatures, combo enablers and even some finishers. I won't be removing him from my cube; he's only going to get better with each set that's released.
Coasting on this thread to ask whether anybody's given a similar card, Fierce Empath, a look. Almost every green deck will run a six-drop or two, for which this guy tutors while leaving behind a chump blocker to slow the aggro deck.
I don't think it's the same type of card at all, despite how they look on the surface. It's discussed in great detail earlier in this very thread. What it boils down to, is that the two main things you use the Recruiter for, which is using it as a toolbox tutor and curving perfectly, the Empath can't do. And, green has a suite of much better tutors, whereas the Recruiter is a unique effect for red. I think the Recruiter is fantastic, but I wouldn't cube the Empath at all.
I got a promo in my judge comp for GP Kansas City and I'm going to try him out in the cube. People that run him, does he only fit in the red control decks? Our red decks are usually aggressive and I'm afraid he will not fit into enough decks, even if he's awesome in the decks he does fit into.
I haven't played him in a dedicated monored aggressive deck yet, but I see him at his most in red/green decks. He's at his best as a utility creature when you're using him to support other utility creatures and a finisher or two. I had him in a deck last week with Kalonian Hydra and Eternal Witness as the two most common targets, which seems pretty good.
He fits into aggressive decks as well fetching guys like Siege Gang, Stoneforge, Braids, Fire Imp, Sex Monkeys, etc. In a Rakdos deck he can grab your 187 creatures for example. I'm a huge fan and would recommend him in pretty much any sized cube.
such a solid card, been in love with it since I first played with it. Not the busted sorta love either, it just feels like a real cube card with a place in a lot of environments you can create. Lets give red a couple of more interesting things to do.
Pyromancer is a cute target too. Not bad with lark, sun titan or rb sacrifice strategies as well as the obvious rg and ru kiki decks.
When I first read it I thought it was merely decent to meh..
Spending 3 mana for a narrow tutor and an irrelvant body.
But I was wrong..
a) Underestimated how relevant having a creature in play is.. Even if it is a 1/1
b) Underestimated the value of recurring.
c) Underestimated just how many great creatures in cube have power with 2 or less.
d) Tutors are amazing, even if they are limited.
I value this card pretty highly. Obviously not first couple picks worthy, but defintily don't think it should ever wheel.
It's mana cost, and not being needed to cast on curve makes it quite splashable.
He supports the Kiki Jiki/Splinter Twin & Pestermite/deceiver exarch deck well if you like that. Plus he is just value fetching a ton of sweet targets fro the previous combo to Eternal Witness, Siege Gang Commander, and more, plue he works with Revillark.
I actually just search the Hydra up with Recruiter the other day. I wonder how the Recruiter conviced the Hydra, though, lol. Just imagining it is funny.

The cube just got Kalonian Hydra too, which is another great Recruiter target.
