I like Colossal Skyturtle, and I think it's a cool card for C/Ubes. But a 3-mana Regrowth effect is the best this can do, and both the body and the bounce option are super lackluster for the cost. Not to mention the fact that is stacked, and doesn't have room for this card in most cases. Bela Ged Recovery doubles as a land, so that flexibility is a lot more valuable than what's offered here.
Thank you! And thanks for pointing that out. I saw protection in the list of imprintable abilities and reached for the stars, lol. I'll edit that bit out to avoid confusion for anyone else. Cheers mate.
Yeah it's a weird interaction. I think the creature would technically have "protection from the chosen player," but it will be an irrelevant ability because there's no chosen player.
In any event, great and helpful list as always!
Not 100% on this interaction, but based on the Soulflayer ruling, I don't think it does:
Creature cards that have abilities that grant the listed keyword abilities to themselves won’t count. For example, exiling a Battle Brawler (a creature with “As long as you control a red or white permanent, Battle Brawler gets +1/+0 and has first strike”) with Soulflayer’s delve ability won’t cause Soulflayer to have first strike, even if you control a red or white permanent.
The keyword being "has". Any creature that would innately have an ability would just say "Flying / Haste / Protection from green", not cardname HAS protection from X. Because of the "has" in TNN's wording, to me that means the protection is conditional on it entering the battlefield, so I don't think this would even grant protection from essentially nothing even if this does exile a TNN.
This is correct. This is also an example of why the change in wording for Avacyn, Angel of Hope was a functional change - her original printing wouldn't apply indestructible to Eater of Virtue, but her updated wording would.
I think it's fine, but it didn't survive the pruning down to the top 20. I really wanted the +0/+4 to be provided to the creature it was equipped to to give the effect more survivability.
