Happy New Year everyone! The last year (or two) has been a blast. Rise of the Eldrazi, Magic 2011, Scars of Mirrodin, Mirrodin Besieged, New Phyrexia, and Innistrad. Thanks to power creep and mistakes, we've seen drastic changes in all formats. And same with our cubes! They look much different than a few years ago. Mine was imaginary
I admit, everyone looks at cards differently. Some of us slide out that Tarmogoyf from the first pack, while others will slam that Spitting Image. But everyone's thoughts are important, and so lets vote!
Any and all Cards printed before Jan 1, 2012 are open to be voted on
This includes Unglued, Portal, Holiday Cards, Celebration Cards... ect
Just rank your top 20 cards you would take Pack 1, Pick 1. The top card will have 20 points, 2nd will have 19 ect ect. The average score rounded to the nearest tenth willl be the composite, and the cards will be ranked by composite.
Votes will open on Sundays, and close on Saturday nights, I'd appreciate it if everyone gave it their best.
Colorless Sections
Instead of having an artifact section, there will be a colorless section. These are cards that are colorless from both mana cost, how it is played, and color. This will include the new colorless cards such as Karn Liberated and Emurkal, the Eons Torn. Ghostfire is still red (since it requires red mana), and Pact of Negation is still blue since it is blue.
From this definition, cards with Phyrexian mana are their respective colors. In addition Vedalken Shackles is considered blue, because it is a blue card as played (it is near useless without islands). Crystal Shard will be considered an artifact, because it is both colorless in mana cost and color, and it can be played without using blue, however Shard of Alaria is not colorless because it required colored mana to use.
Multicolored
For the multicolored section, it will consist of cards that are multicolor as played. this includes kicker, hybrid, color improved, and activated abilities.
Lands
All lands will be in the land section, and no other section, except for overall.
Note: Functional Reprints Armageddon/Ravages of War can only be voted for once. A 20 vote for Armageddon will mean the same thing as a 20 vote for Ravages of War. Wrath of God and Day of Judgment are different cards because their oracle texts are different. For Wrath, creatures cannot be regenerated.
Please post your votes in thread, and voting will be closed Saturday night
You may PM me for any vote changes
For reference, notable cube cards printed since ROE, using wtwlf123's cube as reference
Right now we are voting for white top 20, these are the top 20 white cards you would pick P1P1 in a cube. Typically this would be based off of your own experience with your own cube.
I will then take the results and give the first place vote 20 votes, the second place votes 19 votes and so on, and average the results for a composite.
@cuttups
I like Staying Power because it has so much applications.
Ex. Snapcaster a *** in the graveyard to cast whenever, Jitte buffs lasting forever, Exalted/Battle Cry trigger lasting until the creature dies, Mom giving your Goyf Pro all relevant colors, and so on
Haven't actually played in a cube yet *cough* LSB *cough*, but seems like it would be really fun.
Thanks, that helps. Only one thing: How do cards get classified, like Phyrexian mana cards, cards with kicker, colored artifacts (Crystal Shards), color improved cards (Kird Ape), colored utility lands and stuff?
Good question. Of course, I would argue that they should be classified where they best function. Kird Ape is RG, Crystal Shard is blue, Dismember is black, Academy Ruins is blue, etc. But I will bow to the will of the collective.

Good point, I'll define it in the OP. This is what I am currently going by

I agree to a certain degree, since I feel like this is more of a community thing, and if a large amount of people want to change a definition, I am open to it. The card I am on the edge on is Dismember.
Intentional for me. I feel that the weakness against a turn 1 Birds/Llanowar Elves makes the card considerably weaker than Swords to Plowshares (which is great against turn 1 drops), and Faith's Fetters and Oblivion Ring can deal with more stuff overall than Path.
Plus, this is a question of pack 1, pick 1. I would never take Path P1P1. I don't feel it's a strong enough reason to be in white. If I'm already established in white, I'll take it very high as it will make pretty much every deck, but it's just not useful enough for me to P1P1.
