im still physically building my cube (the school year is sucking all the time out of my day), but for the most part, it’s all done.
How many basic lands should I be sleeving up of each type? It’s a 360 cube, approximately balanced between colours, except colourless, which features quite heavily. It also has some number of lands that help colour fixing (total 23). I also wanted specific sorts of lands, mostly that from pre urza era, so I’d wanna know so I could order the numbers I don’t have enough of
I figured 30 of each might be enough, but I’m unsure if that’d be the case. Any pointers?
30-35 is a good starting place. You might need more if the list only has 23 fixing lands in it (I would expect to see 36-45 @ 360). Are you planning on drafting with 8 players every draft?
Oh right. Even though it’s a pre urza block cube, I cheated a bit and put in 10 fetchlands to go with 10 revised duals, then reflecting pool, city of brass and one more I can’t think of.
Maybe it’s worth putting in 10 shock lands plus 10 pain lands? Or would that be too perfect mana?
I think I’m gonna have 10 fetch, 10 abu duals, 10 shocks, 10 painlands, and possibly 10 filterlands om too of city of brass, gemstone mine and reflecting pool.
And you believe 35 x 5 would be a good place to be, right? So that’s gonna be another hit to the budget! Ah wells.
I’m currently updating cards on cube cobra when I find time. I’m at like 40 cards uploaded right now.

I think 40 duals + 3 rainbows is probably where you want to be at most. 10 further duals (the filters) will make mana fixing too easy.
Easy mana fixing means sinkhole/ice storm archetypes could prey on 4/5c goodstuff, right?
I guess it’s for the best That I learn from y’all pros who’ve been at this for ages. So keep em wisdom nuggets comin!
At the moment though, it does feel like way too many slots are taken up by colour fixing. 43 of 360 is 12% of the cube and 90% chance one will pop up per 15 card pack.
And this isn’t counting the moxen (5 original plus diamond), lotus (black and petal)!
It feels like my cube has the most powerful low-curve spells around, and no real creature power to carry it through.

Old school cubes have a hard time with fixing though.
