So I've been working on a cube with the element of Morph and the new mechanic Manifest. One of the main focuses here is the element of surprise with face-down creatures, making it difficult for players to determine whether the face-down creature swinging for 2 their way is a threat or not, as there is so many different things it can be. The inspiration came from drafting KTR and FRF, and seeing as Morph has been out in a couple different blocks, I wanted to bring them all together.
So here's the problem...
I have only built one cube before, and it was unbalanced. Knowing that the community here is very wise and experienced in this field, I am humbly asking for assistance in completing the cube, through both adding cards and taking recommendations on what to take away. It doesn't have the full 360 yet, so I'm all ears for advice on what to fill those slots.
IMO you don't need such a massive density of morph creatures to make the mechanic effective. Even just having 10 or 12 of the best in each color should be effective. At that point you just need to balance the format around the fact that 2/2s will be around a lot (Aka Shock
> Bolt, etc)
Thanks for the suggestions so far! I'm hoping to keep to a singleton of each card if possible, keeping to the origin of the idea of building and running a cube. I am considering taking out some of the weaker morphs to balance it better, although dropping the amount of morphs in blue is the tough part.
@bone_doc: I'd like to keep at least 20 morph creatures for each color if possible, as I feel like having only 50-60 morph creatures may not be enough. With this being a morph cube, perhaps having around 100-120 morph total is desired, with some Manifest. That said, which morphs do you think should be dropped?
I wouldn't know where to start on this topic, except for this: Spy Network rules and would be even better here.
Went ahead and added that. Thanks for the suggestion!
On another note, I noticed that there are a handful of tribes among the morph creatures. What lords should I put in there (if any) to support this? Also looking for suggestions to round out the rest of the cube as well.
