Just snagged this off of ABUGames. Love the scans on their website and really enjoy seeing that they had one with a signature. This also marks the beginning of the Black Bordered Project. Going to trade my Unlimited Power into Beta and start picking up Beta Duals in the next year. Really happy to start the pimping process again.
It's admittedly super low-key pimp (And amusingly the opposite of what Gals posted last week) but I finally full-arted out my basics. Including 30 wastes, which is excessive, but if someone ever manages to build a Kozilek deck I'll be able to support them and someone splashing colorless. (And still. Have like 5-10 extras)
Erm... Give me a minute. I apparently can't post pics from my iPad safari, so I'll host them on imgur.
This weekend I went into my collection and created a 93/94 Old School Nostalgia cube. It's not totally complete, but this was what I could get from my collection, old EDH-decks (that I don't play anymore) and some legacy stuff.
Super cool project bondafong . I'd be interested to hear how drafts are with that cube.
Now, I could use some help to estimate if this Foil Rishadan Port is a misprint or the dots on it came from another source (water spill?).
Have any of you seen another card like this?
I tried asking in the 'Official Misprint Discussion Thread', but I did not get any response there yet. So I figured I'd try here aswell .
I'm not sure if it's a misprint or damaged, but from a collector's standpoint, it's not the kind of misprint that makes the card more desirable anyways. So either way, it should be worth less than a standard foil Port.

Aggred with that. And I think this is certainly damaged and not missprint. Hope you didn't get it as NM. Is it yours?

It isn't mine, but I can get it for 375 USD / 340 Euro, which seems like a pretty good price for it.

I would wait until EMA is spoiled. If port is in there, that guy wouldn't be able to give it away at that price. Old border or not.
I'm not sure about that, it's not like the JP Rishadan Port put much of a dent in the price of original foils.
That is because Judge foils are printed waaaaay less than a supplemental set such as EMA. Even if EMA will be a smaller run.
If you take a small product like EMA and then slim the numbers down to rare or mythic >foil< rarity, I don't think there is a huge diffrence in numbers. And the original foil will always hold a premium price for it's old-school factor and the mere scarcity of foil rares from those days.
A near mint copy of an original Port will hold its price, a damaged copy will not.
Port at this point will have three foil options, the market for MP MM foils will collapse when the asking price of two NM EMA versions will be the same as one MP MM version. It simply cannot hold up. Very few people would spend $300 on a damaged copy after the EMA printing.
I'm no MTG Finance expert, but I can say with confidence that original foils are typically more expensive than newer versions. As an example look at Reveillark. SCG lists Morningtide foil at 25 and Modern Masters foil at 15 despite there being basically no differences between the two versions. The text is the same on both cards. The art is the same. The foiling process is the same. The only true difference is the expansion symbol. This is even more true when there are differences between two versions. A NM foil Tombstalker from Future Sight lists for 18 on SCG, while the Modern Masters version is a mere 4 bucks. Tarmogoyf is probably a more comparable card to Rishadan Port. SP original Future Sight foil is 700. SP foil from MM1 is half that at 350 and SP foil from MM2 is less at 250. People just want original printings. Unfortunately, future printings don't bring the price of foils down by that big of a margin and that's especially true when those printings are somehow different (frame, art, foiling process, expansion symbol, etc).
I would say "Fortunatly". If people want a foil version of a card it's great to be able to get a Theros Thoughtseize, for example, at a decent price while original foils were (and sometimes still are) great investments. I got a bit nervous about my foil onslaught fetch-lands when Khans was announced for example, but it holds up time and again.
I have a different outlook on the secondary market. I don't see reprints and think about how my current foil versions are in danger of losing value. These cards won't lose value to me no matter how many times it gets reprinted, because I don't plan on getting rid of them. To me their value lies solely in how well they perform in my cube. I don't play any other formats at all and I'm only interested in acquiring foils (or other "pimp" versions) of cards that I want for cube. So, for me, it's frustrating that even though Tarmogoyf has seen three different printings, the price of a foil Future Sight version is still very high. I definitely understand the other side of that coin, but I just don't happen to fall into that camp. I don't see them as investments at all because there's very little chance that I'll be getting rid of them.

Definitely not a misprint, unfortunately.
