I see some Bg Devotion decks playing Temple of Mystery to ensure the number of green sources is high enough to cast the black/green instants. Well I was thinking could we cut 3 Swamps, 1 Shrine for 4 Temple of Deceits and run a couple Far & Away in place of Devour Flesh. Away is slower than Devour Flesh but it won't always be a deal breaker and with 7 blue sources we should be able to find one blue source late in the game to fuse the spell.
There is a secondary benefit of running more dual lands as we will be able to cast our Nightveil hits more often.
My question is is it really worth it to try or should I just run Devour Flesh?
I think in most situations, Far // Away is a better card, but in this case I don't think it's quite better enough. Devour Flesh gets the job done and is still two mana, which can be nice. So for now I'd say just leave it be and stick to Devouring things.
No is the short answer. Playing around with the mana base for one spell that has a cheaper viable alternative just isn't worth it. Now if it was one MD card and 3-5 SB cards? Then that's possible. Far and Away is a good spell. Is it worth messing with our deck for a 2-of? No.
