I've seen some lists running two, some running one and some running zero.
At the moment I have one JMA in my sideboard and it feels pretty good. I toyed around with two and kept feeling I needed the space to answer other decks problem cards.
+1 on this Jace is pretty nice. The +0 ability is a quick win con against control and Maze's End.
Who is using this? How many have you tired? If you aren't using it do you feel it would be worth considering in your sideboard as a win con/CA?
I pretty much stick with 1 in the side for the reasons you stated. It is a very strong trump in the mirror alongside aetherling. Unlike aetherling, it effectively costs 2 less mana (No one in their right mind would tap out for aetherling outside of a desperation play in the control mirror).
If MA had better applications against midrange/ramp decks I'd play 2 but everytime I feel let down because of stuff like haste (i.e. RG dragons and Xenagos).
Part of my strategy against the mirror is to just add in more win conditions alongside counters to more quickly force the "do you have the answer or not" plan. Jace MA is one extra win con in that plan. Seems to work, I win the majority of control MUs outside of mana issues.
That said, I can see forgoing MA altogether if you're confident enough in the control MU (i.e. you're running ashioks main already)

That's a good point. I don't find Jace to be essential for the board. I wont fault anyone for not running him, but he does fill his role very well.
Ashiok decks also can take advantage of this type of a win con although differently. I'll include Ashiok for single card analysis when I'm more ready to discuss the card because my group is putting together an Ashiok build that we're really excited about.
I've stuck with a single in my board and been happy with it. It forces a response which reduces answers to other win-cons.
There have been plenty of times where G2 an opponent plays Pithing Needle naming 'Jace' and then it forces them to consider which Jace(s) they think I have and will be the bigger threat. Not a huge next level play or anything but part of what makes an alternative threat/win con good is not just when it hits play but the feeling of threat it creates ahead of time.
I don't think it's a must but at the same time I don't feel it's a "why the ___ is that taking up spots in your board"
I also want to try to put something numerical to how I view the card so out of a potential 5.0 I rate this card has a 3.5 in the sideboard. It only comes in for specific matchups but is very good at what it does. It's not a must have but is more than fine.
