Opponent earthquaked the exact amount to kill two of my creatures (I can't remember which ones), so I cracked an arid mesa for a plains and played harm's way to save them both. Then, at the end of his turn, I say "lightning bolt" and drop a burst lightning into my graveyard.
I did not have the mana to cast any spell (forgot I had already used the mesa for harm's way), and even if I did, I said lightning bolt (which was in my hand) and showed him a burst lightning.
recently my worst mistake in Type 2 was a sealed/draft for Rise pre-release. my opp was at 3 and i had a fully leveled nirkana cutthroat with eldrazi conscription on it. i was at 3, i was also scared of his two creatures on the field, i needed to block them next turn, never thought of the trample on the cutthroat. epic failure, i got 5th instead of 3rd due to that match.
other than that, my playes have been relatively free of mistakes.

Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.
Given up magic because a)its a waste of money b)it sucks the joy out of life c)im doing more interesting things than tapping pieces of plastic that have no intrinsic value.
I encourage you to do the same. Instead of FNM try Friday Night Something Spontaneous. Instead of thousands of hours and dollars on plastic imagine it with a significant other or friends sharing something meaningful. I randomly typed a new password, so bon voyage itches i encourage you to follow suit! Cheers
I casted an earthquake against a planeswalker control deck, and didn't realize I could have casted it for lethal. ended up losing that game, and match.
LMAO!
That one is hilarious. I see it at FNM all the time, too.

~Intelligence is Bliss; Ignorance is Denial.
Skill is an ability that relates more so to the type of deck that's built and how said player pilots it. It also relates to the ability to assess the board and use the cards available to you in the most optimal way relative to each situation.
When a deck is filled with above par cards and every play is solid, there comes a diminishing need to "think" for the lack of wanting to use a better word.
My opponent taps out for jace at 6 life and brainstorms. I'm holding ranger of eos and bloodbraid elf, and have enough mana to get a bushwacker with ranger and play it as well, which is 6 damage, i.e. lethal.
So obviously, I play bloodbraid elf to kill the jace, get martial coup'ed next turn, and lose. Its just far too tempting to destroy those 100$ bills...
My friend was playing against a UW player at the Philly Open. The UW player was mana screwed and stuck on 3 lands (none of which were blue). My friend drops Tidehollow Sculler and the opponent revealed a Day of Judgment, a Mind Spring, a Jace (which was Pithing Needled) and a Spreading Seas.
My friend takes the Spreading Seas. The next turn the UW player draws another land and wraths my friend's board (which was fairly sizeable). Also, my friend's deck was using borderposts so Spreading Seas wouldn't have even mattered much against him.
I was playing in the game 2 of the final round of a FNM the guy had 2 wall of reverence out I had a Maelstrom Archangel, Garruk with 7 loyalty, Vengent with 8 loyalty, and he wraths the board. I had 2 Cryps in hand and let him. My turn untap, draw blow up all your lands lay Bolas, and garruk went beastie. He finished game with no cards in play and 1 in hand. He refuses to play me except for fun now.
This may be an error in the event coverage, but in the second game of this match at GP: DC, one of the players in top 8 cascades into maelstrom pulse, chooses not to use it, and then plays one from his hand.
One time i discarded a flashfreeze and a land to blightning when i had the mana to play it. For some reason i thought it could only counter green spells. I guess reading is pretty tech after all.
Both mistakes were in the same tournament, from two different players.
The first player was playing U/W Tapout versus U/W Tapout.
My friend had TWO ACTIVATED LUMINARCH ASCENSION, not one, TWO of them !, the other guy had a Jace, nothing else.
Friend Turn : Draw, attack for 4 with 2 angel, go.
Guy Turn : Draw, Martial Coup for 7, uses Jace +2, go.
Friend : Do not make any angel in instant.
Friend Turn : Draw, makes angels, go.
Guy Turn : Attack, Day of Judgment, +2 Jace,
Friend Turn : Draw, goes on and on for 15 turns, friend wins.
The Judge, another of our friend, and I, both stopped looking and facepalmed at the mistake which just costed everyone's 30 minutes until next round.
--------------
Second mistake, my friend has a no hand, nothing on the field except a Jace2, he goes to 13 counter on his turn, opponent hardcast Kozilek. play an elf and a land, go. Friend draw a blightning, opponent has 2 cards in hand, Jace is ready to pop out and ultimate. He Blightning, then Unsummon with Jace...... On next turn, guy put more stuff on the table and attack Jace with an elf. Game Over.
The judge and I, again, facepalmed and refused to see more.
my friend did that with sorin. he was running the origional vamps list and i was doing my vamp control, he drops sorin and gets to a point where he ults him. then he drops a second sorin after my turn so he could remove more of my stuff with sorins +2, i call planeswalker rule, and get game.

Worst play ever? At game day..... blame inexperience.
Jund VS Polymorph
2nd Game I sided in Sadistic sacrament (quick sideboard change before gameday started since I overheard there was going to be polymorph)
Turn 3 I land a sadistic sacrament and stupidly decide to rip out 3 of his 4 polymorphs.... Instead I should have just taken both his Iona and Emrakul and had an auto-win. Next turn he top decks his 4th polymorph and goes into Emrakul his turn 3....... Stupidest play ever on my part or luckiest top deck ever you decide.

right?
Accept the truth.
I am guilty of it.
Dropping a Coat of Arms against a standard Red Goblin deck.
Don't ask me what I was thinking. I clearly was not thinking at all. I ate 30 damage to the face for the critical fail of my Wis check.
Disregard my first post

This same opponent EOT bolted a KotR when my friend had 2 lands in his GY.
Both occasions, my friend Lol'd.
I literally have no idea what I was thinking.
