Played Jund at PA states dropping after going 1-2-1. Draw to Turbo-fog first round set me up for a mana screw mirror match followed by a win and a loss to UWR Control. Looking back I should have kept playing, cause my wife didn't want to drop after starting the day 0-3...
Stayed around to watch some friends just miss T8 and my wife keep playing into the bottom tables with Nissa Monument. She had a blast going 3-5.
BTW, every round I played my opponent was at the wrong table because they saw my name next to my wife's on the match-up sheets. Funny stuff, I played 4 rounds and lost 5 die rolls because of this. Just not my day. Had fun watching other people though.
I attended the Texas State Championships. Went 1-3, then dropped.
My first match (and only win) was against Kyle Sanchez from Star City Games. He won the game one (as mill will often do), but then I sided in Quest for Ancient Secrets and won games two and three.
After that my deck got tired and just didn't do anything against the two Jund decks I faced in matches two and three even though in testing my deck can beat Jund fairly reliably. I was kinda peeved about that.
My fourth match was against Spread 'Em, and even though I could have beaten that deck, my friends came over and informed me that they dropped so I just gave the guy a free win and left to get some food.
I completely failboated at states this year, I ended up going to bed at 3 and forgot to rework my lands after I made some changes. As a result I was always out on my red sources.
Michigan was infested with Jund, but I guess that's no surprise. I saw an entire table at one time with 16 people all playing jund. lol Lots of Boros also. 250 people also. I ended up only 50th, but I guess that's ok considering I wasn't in it once I found out you needed to go 7-1-1 to get in. Sad faced it from there. I had gone 6-2 and decided to say heck with it once I found out even if I won out the next round, I still couldn't get into the top.
The Gigantiform deck was definitely interesting. I'll have a list tonight when Jeff sends it to me. I didn't think the guy did that well, but I took off before the top 8 seated so I didn't know he was in that. I had to laugh when I first heard he had played a kicked one on a bird of paradie and swung in for the win on a Boros deck. lol
He got paired against myself playing Valakut and lost 2-1. g1 I had removal for both times he tried Gigantiform as I had Valakut online turn 5. Kind of automatic from that point. g2 I lost the second he played Spell Pierce off of a Bird of Paradise to counter my turn 3 Harrow with a Khalni in play. Game 3 I got had a good ramp draw and he lost to Hellkite. Overall the match was pretty weighted in my favor post board as I bring in a lot of spot removal, but overall I think the deck is fairly viable. Seems like an auto win v Eldrazi. I saw him with a Gigantiform Stag against both Jund and Vamps which is kind of an autowin.
List to the best of my knowledge, as least that I can recall.
He has some sort of combination of Negate and Spell Pierce main. Land base was 16F, 3I, and 3 Rainforest if I remember correctly. Not sure what else is in the maindeck. He was a really good sport and we had fun the entire day at the top tables. I'm glad he was able to top 8.

I took 3rd at 2009 States with Valakut before it was good. Suck it, Titan.
What's funny is the night before we went into States, I played the FNM to test out a new deck some more. It has an amazing game vs Red, Jund, Naya, and Boros. No problems at all. It's actually a bye. Problem is, you lose straight up to Fog and Eldrazi. Not so hot. In fact, it's so bad you just scoop and don't even bother to play it. It's THAT bad. You just have such an amazing game vs anything with red, it's not even funny.
I wish I had played it now. I hit 5 Jund decks, 1 Eldrazi Green, and 3 Boros overall at the States. I would have hit top 8 with that. lol Figures.
Your match ups are decided by your win/loss record. You would NOT have been matched up vs those same deck if you took a different deck to States. So that reasoning is sorta wrong ther bud
Played naya at Ohio states.
R1 beat Jund 2-1
R2 beat something grixis 2-0
R3 lost to cascade 0-2
R4 beat boros 2-0
R5 beat vampires 2-1
R6 lost to white weenie 0-2
R7 lost to mono red 0-2
R8 lost to Jund 0-2
Managed to get mana screwed in all final 3 rounds. Maybe I need to learn to mulligan. I'm surprised I played so many different decks.
Scrubbed out in MI playing Jacerator, but have possible the best time I've ever had at a magic event. The guy who top 8'd with Gigantaform plays at our store so after most of us scrubbed out we cheered him on. Most epic thing I've ever witnessed in magic.
I don't know his exact list but it was blue / green with Llanowar elves, birds, heirarch, thornling, gigantiform, negate, spell pierce, and vines. All it did was play a very early threat with counter back up. The look on peoples faces when he would gigantiform a dude and prevent the 2 for 1 with a spell pierce cast off a birds with no islands in play was priceless. I told him if he won states with it I'd sleeve up nothing but Gigantiform.dec until it rotated. I think I still might give a go for a couple of weeks anyway just in tribute.
I went to the toronto Provincials and went 4-3-1. It could have been better. It seemed like for every jund deck there there was at least 2 turbo fog and 2 spreading seas deck.
In Pennsylvania top 8 was 6 jund 1 pt junk and 1 jacerator. ID say topps 1/4 was jund. I went 5-3 losing to some bad draws.
I was the guy who top 8d with Jacerator in PA. I lost in the quarterfinals to Jund, which was fine because I was starving and didn't mind being able to leave especially since prizes were the same for the 2-8th place. Anyone know who actually won?
Ohio:
I played the Naya list that Kibler posted on SCG premium on thursday I think, cuts wild nacatl, plays sable stag main, and the fantastic master of the wild hunt. I was jund allergic and cut my quasali pridemages for celestial purges in the board.
This was a horrid decision, and I lost round one to a resolved eldrazi monument after drawing both of my sideboarded (ineffective) cards.
Beat Jund all day (3 rounds)
Beat Vampires, and Boros.
Scooped to boros when I had the win on the board because I had to leave immediately. Went 5-2.
That list is pretty great. A lot of things are more relevant than wild nacatl, and I'm glad I switched it up. 2 Ranger of Eos with only 4 hierarchs to search for was fine, I was happy to do it. It's oddly comparable to sprouting thrinax for the chump blockers, and your ranger of eos is guaranteed to swing as a 5/4 if you play them out.
Baneslayer FINALLY earned its keep. The metagame was diverse, a lot of jund but also a lot of diversity.
There was a good plenty of Jund decks in Houston, followed by Jacerator as second most prevalent and then surprisingly R/W/U control saw a lot of play. I don't have the official numbers, but those're just my guesses based on what I saw. I was playing Jund myself, and faced the mirror match 3 times out of 8 matches. I placed 32nd out of ~190 people and won 3 packs. ^^ I was 5-3, my losses were to White Weenie, Jund, and Jund.
I was in Houston as well Played with Standard Dredge and Dropped after my thrid loss. Losses were to White Weenie, Spreading Seas and Standard Dredge(Which by the way is a really funny game.) Played No Jund My wins were against 2 Naya 1 bant and 1 RDW.
Lost in the finals in NY, or as I like to call it "Backup State Champion". Top 8 was four regular Jund, one four-color Ancient Zigurrat Jund playing Sedraxis Specter instead of Bituminous Blast and Noble Hierarch for ramping and color-fixing (which was the winning deck), one Boros Bushwhacker that we're sort of wondering how he got there since he didn't play especially well, plus one each of Bant and GW Aggro.
Top 4 was 4 of 4 Jund decks, after I got my revenge on my only loss in the Swiss by playing six Blightnings in two games. "Nice format", they'll say. I played "a decidedly uninteresting deck", when everyone asked what I was playing, with my technology being: +1 Mind Rot main, as a 'fifth Blightning' so I could play more of those super-dumb double-Blightning games, and 26 lands instead of 25. The 26th land fluctuated between a Terramorphic Expanse and an Oran-Rief over the past few days; I ran with OR when I settled on Master of the Wild Hunt in my deck, but literally never used the ability or even really wanted to today, and would almost certainly have won game one in the finals if that singleton extra tapped-land was the Terramorphic Expanse I'd originally wanted it to be.
Will be playing 74 of the same 75 at the Philly 5k, as testing-partner Morgan Chang *also* made the finals with the five-mind-rot, 26-land Jund deck in NJ States. This is the "corrected" version:
4 Putrid Leech
4 Sprouting Thrinax
4 Bloodbraid Elf
2 Broodmate Dragon
2 Master of the Wild Hunt
Sideboard:
4 Great Sable Stag
3 Jund Charm
3 Thought Hemorrhage
2 Burst Lightning
2 Malakir Bloodwitch
1 Mind Rot
i stayed with the nighthawks sean.. =P you didnt txt and let me know you audibled.. but nighthawk won a few games for me throughout the day, so no bigs.
and remember, i never agreed with your 26th land for my playstyle.. =P.. nor particularly the 4/4 m10 duals in a runeblaster heavy sb format.
I was the guy who top 8d with Jacerator in PA. I lost in the quarterfinals to Jund, which was fine because I was starving and didn't mind being able to leave especially since prizes were the same for the 2-8th place. Anyone know who actually won?
Seeing as me and you were the only non Jund decks in the top 8 I think we can assume Jund won. I played both of the Jund players who ended up in the finals earlier in the day, however I didn't stay to see which one of them won.
Played Spread Em, went 6-2. Minnesota states.
Top 8 was
Jund
Jund
Jund
Naya
Naya
Eldrazi
Dredge
Boros
Jund was the two decks in the finals
And that's why I didn't go to my states.
I'm sure a lot of people's days went like this: Mirror, spread em, mirror, mirror, naya, mirror, eldrazi, mirror, etc.
This format isn't garbage, but it sure as hell has too much jund. I love the deck but the mirror match is SO god awful boring and usually is won by the dice roll or manaflood/screw.
peace
Edit: And I was very very effing tired. DAMN YOU SLEEPZ!!! DAMN YOUZ!!!!!!

It's definitely competitive, and some of the most fun I've ever had playing MTG. I suggest you read through the whole Gibantic thread in Developing Competitive and take notice!
NC was infested with RDW. It was the most played deck by a LONG shot. That said, there was a good showing from Jund, Naya, and Bant though. I want to say there were 4 RDW in the finals, just stomping all over Jund.
Maine had a rediculous amount of Jund and Turbofog hand in hand, but from what I gathered our Top8 was jund/boros/turbofog and RDW...and the RDW deck punted the game instead of winning state champs...played against turbo fog, holding 2 Banefire with 10 mana on board, and didnt cast them because he thought Safe Passage could have prevented them lol
I urge anyone dissatisfied with this Standard to vote on the poll http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/ld/67. Usually this kind of polls get an immense bias and help from casual players who never touch a tournament table: if we can actually make the poll reflect the current discomfort with the format, they will have to response instead of using an otherwise biased result as a flagship to keep the "everything is fine, this Standard we have created is awesome" position. They may manipulate the poll, of course, but if people go voting the fraud will be more obvious.
I also went to the Michigan States. I went 3-3 and drop. Went with 5 other people from my store and 2 placed in the top 20. One with MWC and the other with Bant. I had RDW.

The only sound was the gentle clicking of the Faeries' wings. Then those intruders who were still standing turned and fled. One thing was certain: they didn't think the Scryb were very funny anymore.
I played in the SC states. It was my second major tournament i have played in so far. I was playing RG nissa monument, but instead of 4 bolts I was main decking 2 chandras and 2 souls majesty. I ended up going 5-2 and geting 16th.
R1- RDW 2-0
R2- Jund 2-1
R3- Goblins 1-2 (made a huge misplay game three)
R4- Valakut combo 2-0
R5- Jund 0-2 (this version was playing broodmother)
R6- Spreading seas 2-0
R7- Vampires 2-0
I doubt I'll be going back to SC states next year just because of the really bad prize payout, all 9th-16th got was 2 packs, and there was over 100 players there.
