Anyone have any good answers to black knight or stillmooons? i thought about moonglove extract but it seems too janky. There's too much white hate in my meta not to consider it.
What have you guys sided in for it? (as this is the mono white thread, please don't tell me to splash. Slots are tight as it is and it's not happening).

Armored Ascension is an okay option. Most pro white guys are going to be on the ground. So if they do that just fly over them. The only other way to deal with them is if you side in hallowed burials. This is sort of a bad option unless you don't have any guys on the field but I think it is our only way of dealing with a pro-white guy.

I can't bring myself to run it main, or even SB. at 4 CC against MBC or other black deck whatever I enchant will end up getting a doomblade/terminate/etc to the face. Seems almost like a wasted slot.
Though flying is good, I was wondering if anyone found an answer to get rid of the black knight in general? So far I can only think of Trip Noose as an answer, but Moonglove extract seems better (and I don't even like that one). Anyone try this at an FNM/competitively and find a SB answer that you frequent?

Do you really need the wall of reverence? You run a heck of a lot of removal... I personally run Figure of Destiny as a 4 of and it has been great (I know it's not a soldier, but it holds its own in tournament play). Also, why not running 4 armorsmiths? They give jund and other sweeper heavy decks fits.
I have never had any luck in getting a Martial Coup to go off, but that's me. I replaced my 2 MD with Elspeth, Knight Errant and havent looked back.

For reference about other posts, this is what I brought to FNM and made it to the final with last week. I plan on running more or less the same build this Friday, but am considering replacing a Mark of Asylum, aPithing Needle, and the soloHarm's Way and Path to Exile with a playset of White Knights. Heavy black/Jund meta makes me nervous...
If you don't run Windbrisk Hights I'm not sure Spectral is good in your 3CC slot.
I'm no expert so if someone who knows if I'm wrong or not could back me up or shoot me down I'd appreciate it.
I don't run spectral to activate heights. The flying + pump from honor of the pure and/or ajani goldmane make it more than worth running. flying over for 6-9 a turn anyone? Yes please. This card has single handedly won me games.

i was trying to make it with the cards that wont rotate out the wall for life gain and to block the flyers and another target for removal to try to keed my permeeint alive and as far as elsepeth that is just too expensive to buy i would really like to make a strong ww deck so any help will be great

And preeminent captain rotates anyway... so that's a little inconsistent...
You mean Goblin Lackey from "From the Vault: Exiled"?
yeah we can't even use that anyway.
I think he meant a version of the card that would work to bring in soldiers. Not a literal goblin lackey with a white casting cost. The concept would be much like preeminent captain, with the *goblin* text replaced with *soldier*.
I won't say that this will never happen, but I wouldn't hold your breath. It would be nice, but for some reason I don't see this fitting with the "white" theme. Hopefully I'm wrong.
And Katalyst, I'm not so sure that these ideas will work as well as you would hope. If you want to splash another color, there are threads with comments that would probably be more helpful than the mono-white thread. I personally prefer mono-white, but it's a preference thing.
In all, I think it is too early to "prepare" for Zendikar. We have no idea of what it is bringing. For all we know there will be no/no playable soldiers. Let's work with what we have.
On a seperate note, did anyone try running white knight main? Which slot did you have it take up and how did it work for you? I atleast want to get 4 on my SB before I get to FNM tonight...

I'm running white knight main, I think its pretty good. Obviously it loses soldier synergy but the pro black and first strike can be very helpful.
I put this together on mtgo a couple days ago and have been playing alot with it... not sure how I feel about certain cards. The squire can be good but alot of the time he sucks, but I feel like he's necessary for early pressure + card advantage w/ ranger of eos. Ranger of eos is an MVP of the deck, getting 2 elite vanguards is amazing. Captain of the watch is strong, but the 6cc really hurts, even with 23 lands. I'm considering trying to fit in harms way.
The white knight not being a soldier is obviously suboptimal, but imo the deck really needs that 2nd 2 drop aside from armorsmith. And I have found his pro-black useful.
I'm not sure how I feel about ajani... elspeth might be better but I had ajani's and not elspeth's so that's that... I dont want to drop that much money on a card that I'm not sure is actually better or not.
I'd like to try harm's way maindeck.
I tried martial coup and hated it, it costs way too much.
This list is post-lorwyn only, I just started back up w/ type 2 and I'm not going to buy cards that are about to rotate out. yeah thats suboptimal, yeah we don't know what zendikar will have blah blah blah. but I can't really imagine a situation in which some variant of this deck is not good after zendikar comes out... it has a crusade that is better than crusade, savannah lions, swords to plowshares, and other good cards...
I just hope zendikar has a 1cc soldier that is better than squire

I actually ran soldiers at a recent ptq with a list i posted earliar. i did not run spectral for two reasons: 1 is that i feel there would be a lot of 5 color and jund so that the play would be a dead play for me. The 2nd reason which i kind of tie in to the first is that it doesn't help. Looking at kithkin, they really are turning more into white weenie as a lot of their main creature base isn't kithkin anymore. The reason that you run soldiers over kithkin is that the whole point of the deck is synergy. You run at least 8 diffrent lords (14 if you count honor of the pure and ajani) and so running any non-soldier spells hurts you greatly. They won't get pumped from the armorsmith and it can't be put into play from preemenent captain.

Though this is true, I still find the flying to be immensely helpful. I cannot think of a card I would prefer to run instead of this, to be honest.

Mirror Entity if your not already running it (which im not, but i am starting too). I admit the card is good, but i feel that the less soldiers your running, the more that you should probably just splash to kithkin as they do the white weenie thing better... And you NEED fallout/jund charm/pulse insurance which nothing short of TWO honor of the pures will do. Ajani can't be counted to resolve against control, and your creatures can be nuked in responce to ajani's ability...

An honor of the pure and an armorsmith do just fine for the rest of the deck. And the way I see it, they have to nuke the spectral tokens pretty much as soon as they come out, unless they want to eat 6 (or 8 including their own fallout) or wait until they become too big. I would rather see a fallout hit t3-t4 than later when i decide to drop off my bigger threats.
Given, you never want to overextend, but forcing them to sweep before they need to is ALWAYS a good thing.

Seriously. It makes Soldiers... that get pumped by HotP... that have flying... at instant speed.
It's a great combat trick. You can use it offensively or defensively. Sure, you have to switch to Bant colors, but that's not a huge sacrifice, because of the new duals and Seaside Citadel.
Here's my proposal for Bant Soldiers (with Flurry of Wings):
Notes:
- Knight of the White Orchid has worked very well with acceleration despite it's non-tribalness.
- I got no Planewalkers, don't suggest any.
- Is the mana curve all right? 21 Plains enough?
My brother took my deck to FNM, it lost to Warp World but won against Elves and Haunting Echoes/Discard/Mill. My brother was pissed at the Mill user because after he did an Haunting Echoes and made my brother go through deck removing, he surrendered next turn. Come on, if you know you're going lose, surrender and don't do a time consuming move like Echoes.
