Couldn't tell you, there was a Ancestral tourny in whitesbourg kentucky (t2 format) And Some of the 5cc that Top8 dropped cryptic all together, A friend of mine was telling me they hated tapping 3 blue mana +1 to have it get gutteral'd. I dont think anyone plays gutteral main deck. But they were just tired of spending so much mana to have it 1 mana countered.
[/deck]
Well, I guess I should stop playing Affinity and Zoo in Extended because of Spell Snare . Just because there's a caveat to Cryptic Command available to red and green....well...that certainly doesn't make it unplayable.
As far as Negate vs. Remove Soul....well since you're running so much removal anyway, Negate is probably better for you.
i guess i been playing against fae players who did not have THE NUTS every damn game. like thoughseize/vendilly/mistbind/2 scions and a bitterblossom.
You are citing Fae as still having Scions, and that Scion is nuts vs. 5C? Uh... that seems like your first problem. Try testing vs the list from the PT Top 8. Or vs. opponents who know what to counter and how not to over extend into Fallout.

Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone
To the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.
I don't agree with this. What kind of deck are you running if a t1 Thoughtseize alone can affect you so badly?
T1 thoughtsieze is gamebreaking. Just the threat means that you have to take mulligans that you otherwise wouldn't need to. The times that you do keep an okay hand in order to not go down one card and get thoughtsiezed turn 1, you lose. In order to beat faeries you need two things, the ability to slow down their agression and the ability to generate card advantage. The first one is easy to take away. They get rid of your fallouts/threshers/whatever, and you are at two before you get your solution. By then, it's too late. Thoughtsieze doesn't have to completely shut you down to make you lose. It just has to slow you down, which it does very well.
what do you guys side in for blightning MU..
it is really hard when they are going fast
Celestial purge, Negate and kitchen finks are all good for that matchup.
I've heard of alot of 5cc players dropping cryptic all together. and what about running obelisk of alara? I play 1 obelisk in my 5cc and I win every time It hits play. That with banefire is a pretty quick win
Thoughts?
There's three things in life you can always count on to be true: Death, Taxes and running four cryptic command in five colour control.
Anyone not running four is automatically incorrect, period, end of discussion, no questions asked, nada, zero, zilch. It is THE best card in Standard, and not to mention one of the strongest blue spells to see the light of day.
There is zero reason to run less than four Cryptic Command.

Mike Lopez said that Cancel is a very powerful card and since its a counterspell it cannot be countered.
Can we run 4 of Cancel instead? It seems very powerful.

Someone also told me that the Olsen twins would never be hot.
Wow I stop posting for a little while and now the discussion turns to cutting cryptics? seriously ? If anyone thinks cutting cryptics from 5cc is a good idea, then bust out your Yu-Gi-oh cards because this game isn't for you.
No such rule exists as "counterspells can't be countered". They most certainly can, hence Last Word. Apart from anything else, the game doesn't actually recognise counterspell as a class, kind, or any subdivision of card - it's simply a term coined by players, like burn, removal, and life gain.
Cancel may be a reasonably powerful card, but the extra effects afforded to the caster by the additional UCryptic Command costs are unfathomably more powerful. Any one of the extra effects would be fun but getting to choose modes is insane. You don't even have to use it as a counter remember; it works quite nicely as "tap and draw" to take back some ground against aggro.
Uh, well they were right; the twins are hideous. But your point stands
Some of you have obviously not heard of the greatest mind in Magic history: Mike Lopez, who demonstrates conclusively that Cancel belongs in every blue deck. Drop Cryptics for them now.

What are peoples' thoughts on the mirror match? Seems like it would be quite a pain with both players gaining 4 life a turn from their walls game 1...
The mirror match is a lot like the Fae mirror in that it is a race to Bitterblossom. Er, well, in this case...Scepter of Fugue. I suppose it's not that cut-and-dry, but resolving that card early in the mirror is ridiculous. I don't know why you're concerned with Wall of Reverence considering that you CAN just counter it (though I'd actually recommend countering the creature that's gaining them four life, as the 1/6 itself is hardly threatening).

what is people's thought on magma spray instead of terror?
alot of deck run 2/2 monster. due to the fact that terror doesn't kill sculler, stillmoon, goblin outlander and not broodmate
and..magma spray will help the rw lark MU and take care of pesky persist dudes

Really? In game one of the mirror, do you really want to give your opponent the chance to gain four life a turn and also have a blocker that trades with your win condition? Like, it's not ideal to counter Plumeveil, but bar having a Terror, I've seen worse plays.

I just picked up most of the cards from this deck for pretty cheap... and I don't got too much time to test, so I have a few questions...
How important is it to run 8 counters, broken ambitions and cryptic command, and are there any others that I could possibly run?
In the mirror match how important is Wall of Reverence in actuality?, I understand that this question could be answered "situational," but just generally answer. Card Choice Questions
Path to Exile or no? If so how many maindeck how many sideboard?
Sower of Temptation or no? Kitchen Finks or no?

Broken Ambitions is almost exclusively for Faeries. If you aren't concerned about them, you could just play a couple Negates and free up some slots.

You board it out against the mirror.

Kitchen Finks is actually really good out of the SB right now, but not necessary. If you're thinking of using it against Blightning and the aggressive creature decks, I'd recommend the full set of four. They're also really good against Faeries right now, so that's something to keep in mind.

Hi guys, I've been thinking about going to NTQ of my country and i was thinking in 5 decks (5cc, Esper lark, faeries, 5cc planeswalker and Swans), i don´t know what meta expect, so this is my list
I was saying that Faeries is *not* the bye people seem to think it is. Is it winnable? Sure. Is it better now than before Conflux? Hell yes. Is it a bye? No.
As for Blightning, if you consistently lose to it, you're doing something wrong. Heck, the only hate for Wall of Reverence they have is sideboarded Terrors. Pre-board you should *always* win. And post-board, they get Terrors and you get... whatever you want?
Faeries is still, like, at least 60/40 in their favor. People don't understand this?
As for Blightning, you're absolutely right. THAT match-up is mostly a bye...

This thread is full of idiots... Lightning Bolt is NOT being reprinted.
Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)
I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.

Heh, I have been winning against 5cc quite a bit online with blightning, really only game one troubles me, post sideboard it just becomes "avoid the cruel ultimatum" and usually i get them to 0 by turn 7. Maybe my opponents, all ten-fifteen of them, have been scrubs, but I've won plenty of packs against 5cc online with my blightning aggro.

I prefer Terror or Celestial Purge to Path to Exile, mostly because there is no drawback on either of those cards and you get a similar effect (though one RFGs Ajani Vengeant as well).
Sower of Temptation is kind of clunky since you'll be using it against the decks that are weak to Volcanic Fallout, and that means you'll be wasting your Sower of Temptation anyway.
