Grandeur Korlash two times in a turn with a recyclable and instant grim harvest (and tokens and urchins always on the way to the graveyard) justifies the 4 corrupt, too
I was a member of Grim Harvest Anonymous for a while and have finaly been cured. It is a great card no doubt and the recover is just so....mmm. I must stop thinking about it otherwise I'll end up putting it back in, but there are better things to run now in its place.
XxTalonxX: why only two Profane? That thing's the MVP every time I play Mono-Black...
Why not put singleton Rack in the SB? I mean, you can BtQ it, and It's not like they'll see it coming.

Multiple Profane's suck, especially if you're seeing them opening hand. With BtQ, you can fetch it late game, so running it as a 2-of is right in my eyes.
And in regards to the Rack idea, it's not bad if you MD Thoughtseize/Stupor, or you have a transformational sideboard.
Rite of Consumption can definately be a silver bullet, it'd be much better as an instant though.
@ talon: I havent been able to test against the mirror as no-one in my meta plays MBC, but logic suggests Extirpate and Thoughtseize will be the stars against that match up.

I know it's not quite the same as actually playing in a serious environment, but you can get a friend to come over, proxy up a popular build of MBC, and test like that. That's how I test against Faeries, Lark, etc.; I take Shin's build, proxy it, and have a friend play it against me.
@Talon
I understand very well, i don't like corrupt at all as I said some pages before, I was a bit ironic... still minicombo grim harvest/korlash could possibly make it useful in multiple copies if you have the right draw. Korlash is one of my first BtQ targets, if no removal is required of course, when I have already one in hand and it simplify even some clunky corrupt...
I have a different approach to this deck, sure the basics are the same but i developed it from nothing thinking of something that could beat aggro, lark and faeries. Starting with sudden spells, tendrils and damnations, adding a win condition (Korlash), a draw engine (snow), and filling with power spells like bb and profane command.
My opinion about corrupt, sudden spoiling, ritual and leechridden swamp, and also sideboard, is different from many others. I want a deck that can go aggro or control on situation, so i need cards that fulfill both kinds of plan. Corrupt and LrSwamps are no such cards, one is another ultimate finisher and nothing else where profane is also a tool for midgame, the other serves for eroding PV where i usually finish with a couple of huge hammerings. No need for them I think.
Sudden spoiling is useful for control/fog and for killing troubling threats, but it also serves for grounding chumpers in a demigod attack or for more trample with korlash. I love situational cards... when there are many situations in which they are useful.
...another situational card i'm testing now as silver bullet for BtQ is Rite of Consumption for flinging Korlash or a demigod.
I played against a RDW, i won but manabarbs near killed me, are there some sideboard answers?
I like that Idea, I also really like rite of consumption, I think that that would go well with some sort of resurrection, especially where demigod is concerned. Throw him at their face, res and attack. lol.
I've toyed around with the many versions of this deck and to start, I simply prefer the Snow Engine to the basic Swamps and Leechridden. More often than not I started with Leechridden and never got to Grandeur for them and they just became annoying with my lack of being able to keep two black permanents on the board.
I haven't really tried Demigod very much, but on paper he looks like a solid choice. I may playtest him a bit tomorrow at FNM. He would definitely mess with my curve, though.
Also, I love the Scarscale + Dusk Urchin engine thing. It's an excellent combo and it has proven to be very consistent in all the games I've played. It's great with Bitterawesome tokens, two free cards.
Four copies of Corrupt is a bit excessive. I'm having trouble with the two copies I'm using right now. It does wonders late game, though.
Mirri would be good against flying decks as they rarely have large creatures.
Soul Collector might work against lark as a blocker.
Banshee could be a tide turner against all sorts of decks.
I am soo close to just removing the demigods or Korlash.
no on likes Epochrasite? i have been using it and i like it
Epochrasite is definitely one of the best underplayed cards in Constructed right now. They can be a bit slow, but they destroy control unless they RFG it.

Are you serious right now? Mirri? Soul Collector?? How you can possibly think that they're superior to Korlash or Demigod is totally beyond me.

For one, they both fly. Thats a + over korlash. Anyway they are situational thats why there are only 1 of each. Plus thats just a build to test different cards. Thought I'd share what I thought could be used in the deck. The point is to patch the weaknesses that I have seen in my playing.
Epochrasite is good, I just haven't had good results with him.

for those running BtW, have you tested a copy or two of Imp's Mischief? It seems good right now and I'm going to throw it into my deck tomorrow as soon as I get to the shop and try it out. It is a hard counter vs cancel & rune snag etc, pwns thoughtseize, redirects burn or nameless inversion to a dude, and just plain feels good to play targeting an ancestral vision. Vs the ancestral, it's a good card to tutor for, and vs counters it's good to tutor so you have your own counter backup when you play a bomb.

"I finally figured out what One With Nothing is good for!" says Paul. "Oh yeah? What?" comes the reply. "It comboes with Tarmogoyf!"
True story...
Imp's Mischief sounds good in theory, but what good is it against Thoughtseize if it hits you first turn? On the otherhand, it helps against Oblivion Ring if you can spare 3 life and there is another target in play. Personally I dont think there are any spots free to include this without sacrificing some slots for other more useful spells that arent as situational.
For one, they both fly. Thats a + over korlash. Anyway they are situational thats why there are only 1 of each.
That's what Hammer is for. Speaking of which, you should add 1 Hammer, 1 Profane, and throw in a couple Corrupts for good measure. They're all game-winning cards.
its a solid burn spell that gains life? its a cheap 3 dollar lobster dinner for jews...whats not to love?
I tried running it but found it too slow. My mana curve needed and still needs work and adding a corrupt was only going backwards. I would like to fit it in but i find profane more useful and nothing else I want to cut.
Played 4 rounds tonight, will most likely post results tommorow, too tired now. I went 4-0 overall anyway
I hate to be the downer of this thread, but I've done heavy testing over the last 3-4 days for the 13k Mega Weekend SCG thing. I've tested MBC, LSV Mannequin, GW Mana Ramp, GW Aggro, Mono Red and Faeries. These 5 against each other. MBC has been the weakest deck. I just don't think it can get there. There's so many other options for good midrange decks right now.
There's alot of oversouls both dusk and shields rolling around right now and this deck pretty much scoops to them. Yes I know you can chump block with mutavaults or whatever but if your having to chump block with mutavaults you've lost.
I just don't think this deck has the power in the current meta. Better options. I wanted to run this bad at the 5k, but I just can't find myself running it.

So what list did you test exacly? What were your results? I cant really see this deck as being the weakest... but every1 has their own testing results, i just wanna see some facts to back up ur "MBC sux right now" statements.

If we wanted to play evasive fat, Stronghold Overseer would be in every list. Or Dread. Just stick with the Demigods and kill and see how it runs.

Against:
Doran 4-1 the only one I lost he played a Chamaleon on turn 3 ad hit for 8, 3 times. And I didint got my "Wrath".
Faries: 2-2 (the guy is a Pro-Player, so I realized tat Sudden death Is a relly god trick in this match)
BG ELves/Rock: 2-1 easy. Corrupt is unsane aggainst every aggro. It´s a removal too that gives u time for Ur Korlarsh or Demigod.
MonoR: 3-1 After sideboard becomes even easier.
There for is unfair to your oponent when u have a 8/8 korlarsh on floor, a Demigod flying over his creature and a corrupt on his face.
What about this deck I´ve realized that sometimes u´re dying, but suddenly, from now where ure 10, 12 aggain and your opponent 5, than comes Demigod.
Nice. Now that´s why I called it ROCKY BALBOA: On the begging always looks like its losing, then with 2 or 3 punches u win the game.
