I run 1 copy of Uyo and 2 Azusa now some may say that Azusa is no tgood andd I might agree acept for the fact that it accels Meloku to an increadable speed.

While it does help Meloku, it doesn't add to the deck in any other form, serving only as a win-more kind of card. In most cases, it will only clog up your hand and/or serve as an overly expensive chump blocker. It is true that if this hits play along with a Meloku the game basically ends, but in most cases Azusa is nothing more than a dead draw....:slant:
Anyways, it seems like the general consensus is that Ninphidian is quite useful. I really need to start testing with that guy then...
@ButteBlues18 I'm not saying that you should run shackles over truth. IMO, both need to be run. Like i said, sure, it gets killed a lot. But it really helps you out a huge amount as well, and not only against affinity. You can take already-played 2-toughness creatures and attack early game for beatz, if needed, and take Kokushos late game, a huge plus. If having a shackles out is going to make my BG opponent hold Kokusho in hand until they get an oxidize or a shaman, especially after they board some oxidizes or shamans out late game, then IMO it's worth it. Also, it's not always a bad thing to echoing truth your shackles/counter their art hate sometimes. At times, it's worth it, and shackles really is an important addition to the deck.
I am still tweaking my deck but the only real problems I am running into are:
RDW/Red Burns: If I don't have any counters up, it'll sting. Annoying as hell, sometimes I will pull off Rude or even get Meloku to spawn some flyers. I sometimes will have to wait and get enough mana have a counter ready just in case.
Affinity: I am doing quite well here actually. <3 Splinter + counters. Makes it annoying on them but will sometimes be quite the battle.
Black: Cranial Extration is teh debil. Smart players will see you run UG and will usually choice Rude or Meloku.
What I am trying to get in my main deck, but probably side board.. is Myr Landshaper. Put that out, hopefully with a counter ready, and then next turn tap it and turn an enemy land into an artifact. Then we pull out our friend Splinter . I havn't been able to pull this combo off a lot, then again I havn't ran 3 Splinters, only 2 (with 3 Landshapers).
lol back in the day I ran GU without Rude (it was sideboarded) and everyone liked to Cranial for it. Quite fun, especially since most of them were like "... wheres your Rude Awakening kid? You don't run Green without it." I do if the deck's based around Meloku and I'm not keeping that many lands out I kept 4 out so I could Revive an Echoing Courage for the win (which happened alot). Seven or more 3/3 or even 5/5 flyers are hard to deal with
I was thinking of adding eCourage (a new busines? ;)) to my deck.
Vip, I demand'ith you post'ith your current T2 U/G deck(ith)!
EDIT: I love making people give up because of Myr Landshaper + Splinter. Esp when they dystroy the Landshaper (dystroy/dmg, what have you), and I just play Eternal Witness and have a Counter ready. Same can do with bringing back Splinter.
maybe just a minor thing but I think Buttes list needs to cut an island and add a forest. I played maybe 15 matches with his list and I was always hoping for more green land early on.

Hats off to [BB18 & IBTG], you've found something that may be THE deck to beat post rotation.
Explosives are there as "place holders"... I'm not sure what I want to run in those two slots, and Explosives seem to fill them at least somewhat decently for the moment.
Tom - I was experiencing the same thing too ;)... I'll probably make that cut.
er... no?
Its only good with beacon of Creation, and thats in only mono G. Beatz. Please do not use echoing courage in U/G Control, thats just kind of... sad.
heh... I'm not such a fan of cutting Vedalken Shackles. UG has a VERY difficult time dealing with non-artifact dudes, (most notably Somber Hoverguard). This way at least
UG espescially is very weak against random non-artifact creatures. Most notably the Somber Hoverguards that everyone and thier aunty is playing in Ravager. I'd much rather have a recursive answer to them than be forced to meloku chump indefinately, or bounce + countermagic...
On the other hand, I'm roughly equally disgusted when I end up Hindering an Oxidize so :slant:. If I cut them maindeck I would definately SB at least two and possibly 3 of them for adding in the matchups where they make a difference.
I was told today that this kid on my team called 911 twice this morning and hung up both times. They called back and his dad answered. The reason the kid called 911? He got an erection and didn't know what to do. I wish I was making this up.
i dont know about you hkkid but people around here who play hovergaurd in affinity are usually playing plating affinity. i never have a chance to get it cause the football helmet (thats what we call cranial plating here) is already on it or if i try its insta equipped. thats why i cut shackles out.

Shackles is nice for stealing DotV and Hoverguards, however, Echoing Truth is an all-around "answer" to about anything you ever see... So, I like it... Not to mention the occasional Witness opportunities it presents.
Summoner: Yeah strangely enough ravager players here all like that strange Cranial Plating card as well. The difference between it and Hoverguard however is my 7 maindecked spells that kill artifacts, vs my 0 maindecked spells that kill creatures. Sure every now and then a plating just comes out and dominates my shackles, but more likely than not I'm going to have an answer for plating.

how is the TNS doing?...
Um...not much you can do about plating..they equip, you lose pretty much thats how it goes.

Sure, you might get a nice four or five 1/1's, but its still jank in the deck. Theres WAY better stuff to play, and playing it in a tournament like regionals which isnt THAT far away (4 monthes?) will make your opponent crack up and laugh. It has no spot in the deck, and I just prefer an original list of U/G Control than U/G "OMG I GET FIVE 1/1 TOKENS" control.
Now... beacon of Creation in Mono G Beats, now thats nice, getting 7 or 8 tokens, with echoing courage for the kill with a nice fangren firstborn... its all good
I meant that as a side note, I play it in Black Green Cloud. We have discussed it in the thread for Cloud, and it was decided that it is good. Read the post. B/G!

I played around 30 matches of U/G control vs B/G control tonight, tweaking the deck as I went along. A few things I noticed:
Echoing Truth is worse than Veldalken Shackles. Not sure about other matchups yet, but, seeing as how B/G is pretty popular, I would imagine that you don't want to lose this matchup. Truth hurt, a lot. Shackles saved my butt, a lot.
Ninphidian is also bad in this matchup. Honestly, it is too slow. If you bounce an STE back, you lose the accel that is vital. By the time you could bounce back Witness or Shaman, it is turn 4/5, and even the mediocre player I was playing against knew to block my witnesses/shamans with his witnesses/shamans/solemns.
Keiga is good. 5/5's for six may seem kinda weak, but, it puts them on a VERY short clock. It has been said repeatedly that there aren't many fliers in the format, so having a 5/5 one is pretty good. Meloku and Rudes are liabilities, since Echoing Decay pretty much gg's both of those plans. Keiga is your best win condition in this matchup.
Basically, U/G needs to do some evolving. Someone mentioned Kira earlier....the creature that makes all your creatures untargettable once. That would be good. I'll continue testing, and try to share what I learn.

This whole deck is weak, as well as your sugestions chrono. I suggest you try to make some good suggestions for a change. Echoing decay doesnt even fit in the deck since this is u/g. It seems you dont even know what you're talking about.
Um, Earl....did you even read my post? I said that Echoing Decay destroys Meloku and Rude. Not that it goes in the deck. Please, do not spam up this thread.

Um whos idea was it to run rude in this deck? Bad idea.
Um whos idea was it to run rude in this deck? Bad idea.
Rude has been run in U/G control pretty much since its inception. 2 or 3 Meloku's and 2 or 3 Rudes was the kill method. Keiga also showed up, but, was dismissed for the most part. I still use Keiga, but, that's just me.
Again, your statement here is spammish. Just mucking up the thread by posting a rhetorical question that completely defies all logic (since the thread with several decklists containing Rudes is the one you are posting on) is not the proper way to approach an argument.
