I built my list based on the idea that every threat has to be removed immediately. The only difference in my deck is Xenagos the god and Atarka. I would run more of xenagos but the list is so tight on space. Ashcloud Phoenix with haste is brutal for most deck. Also most deck cannot even get rid of a god anymore. Erases have been cut from most sideboards for Abzan Advantage which doesn't work vs us.
The main board is designed to beat other midrange decks and control.
Against control every threat they have to answer quickly. Keep any hand that is not flooded with lands or Elvish Mystics. Rattleclaw mystic is fine to keep. You can ride them all game for a lot of damage forcing their removal on rattleclaw instead of something else later. You are favored in the U/B and Sultia control match up. They have to lean on crux of fate otherwise everything is a 1 for 1 removal. The dragon's clause on crux is relevant in our match up.
Against aggro you are about 50/50 on game 1. You do need the right starting hand to survive those early turns. We have a lot of creatures in this deck that do not block well. Flamewake pheonix and rabblemaster are things you want to avoid in your opening hand. Everything else is fine. Do not be scared to throw an early boon saytr or shaman under the bus. We need to survive until turns 5+. Anything that can trade with a creature and buy you time. After board this match up is very easy. Hornet Nest and Polukranos brick everything they can do. Wild Slash is more of a tempo play. Allows you to cast a threat + removal in a single turn. After you start getting ahead they cannot race you well. Your threats are way bigger with haste.
@Moon. I've been running something reasonably similar for the past couple of weeks. Have you thought about trying Fleecemane? I also highly recommend Dromoka if you can find room.
Here's the list I've been running. I'm not sure about Dragonclaw and loving Fanatic.
You might have a consistency problem. You need GW early but it is only a small splash. This disrupts your other main colors. You also have a lot of 1-2 of. This can make opening hands very hard to judge.
True. I rarely have an issue casting Fleecemane on curve if it's in my hand, and colour screw is rarely an issue (unless I pick up all my G/W or G/R lands and no others, which has happened a couple of times.
I'm really debating cutting Dragonclaw as I haven't liked her at all yet. I've dropped her 3-4 times, and each time she's been quite irrelevant. Probably for another Fanatic (which I'm loving).
I played an Atarka/Xenagod/ramp home brew yesterday to a 4-2 record in a very small TCG Player Appreciation event.
I found Goblin Rabblemaster to be underwhelming to say the least. Does he still have an important place in a GR Monsters type list?
I simply wanted my 3 drops to be good vs control in game 1. Usually he just eats a removal spell that isn't pointed at some of your better threats. You could use Fanatic of Xenagos if you'd like in his spot. They both output about the same amount of damage over 3 turns. I give rabblemaster the slight edge because he will leave the tokens behind if he gets killed. It isn't much of an edge but it is something.
Throw your list up. My only experimental card is See the Unwritten. It has been awesome for me so far. It just crushes midrange match ups. Sometimes you get double stormbreath or shaman + something with evasion. I have hit Xenagod and Atarka a few times and ended game on the spot.
Took this to Philly Regionals and went 3-4 drop. Round 1: Sultai Constellation 2-0; Round 2: 4 color soul 0-2 (turn 5 Soul of Theros activation yuck); Round 3: Abzan Mid-range 2-0; Round 4: R/W Heroic 1-2 (team kill); Round 5: UW Heroic 2-0 (Harness by Force for the kill); Round 6: UR Midrange 0-2 (mulligan to oblivion); Round 7: GB Constellation 0-2 (mana issues continue).
Drop.
Deck felt really underpowered, especially against a deck like 4 color soul. Shaman of the Great Hunt is great on the play and garbage on the draw (he was usually sitting the side line after I got game 1). Flamewake Phoenix is probably just not powerful enough.
I put it together last minutes, the sideboard especially is not well thought out. The idea, rather obviously, is just to ramp to big fliers (or Ugin) and hope to ride them (and Xenagod) to victory. I did cast Atarka and swing for 24 to win one game. I also played two hasty Goblin Rabblemasters relatively early in one game (and lost). On the flip side, I faced a turn 4 Nissa & Ugin from a Mono-Green list (and promptly scooped).
My losses with to the aforementioned mono-green deck and to an Abzan Midrange deck. It was fun to play. As I mentioned before, I found Goblin Rabblemaster rather lackluster, his offense was seldom good and his defense almost non-existent. I think what a deck like this needs is just a bridge to the big stuff, so Hornet Nest would serve just as well in the three-drop slot...except that is is obviously a dead card against Control (which I did not face at all).
Whisperwood Elemental continues to impress me, I think maybe it should find a home in the mainboard, or perhaps more copies in the SB. In general in Green decks, not just specifically this one.

"Because we cannot prevent draws in paper Magic we allow IDs. If we could prevent draws we would not have IDs in paper Magic. " Scott Larabee.
I think Ashcloud is something you want more of over Flamewake. Flamewake's clock simply isn't substantial enough to be riding into the late game. It's power ceiling is too low. It's great for grinding control decks out (decks like Abzan walkers and UB control) but not when you're getting raced by Abzan aggro. For that reason Ashcloud > Flamewake.
I think Rabblemaster and Fanatic both have a place in this deck, so it's pretty hard to say. Both are fantastic with Chandra, Pyromaster (who I'll get to later). Both are pretty trash on the draw against a lot of decks so they have similar weaknesses. The real dispute, I believe, is how often you require ferocious to trigger. For example, I enjoyed being able to play Fanatic turn 4 and play Crater's Claws as a shock on an x/2 -- something that Rabblemaster limits you with. However, Rabblemaster is a much more powerful card by itself, and grants you more free wins than any card in the deck -- so I think Rabblemaster is very defensible if not the most defensible.
I have bounced between Chandra and Xenagos. Both are fine cards and pull your opponents removal in a variety of ways. Xenagos on turn 3 is a monster and very good against aggro and control decks a like. Where he's weak is against Courser of Kruphix decks, unless you're spewing and ramping with him, because 2/2s don't play well with 2/4s. Against Courser decks, I think Chandra is the much better card. She is the falter the deck needs with all the x/2s it's running. Chandra is a monster against Abzan midrange and can be quite good on the play versus Abzan Aggro.

I've spoken a bit about Abzan Aggro and it's really because the deck is very similar in construction to ours, although I believe each of their creatures is individually more powerful. The MU is rather 50/50 and depends a lot on the draw, diceroll, and whether or not we have a turn 1 mana dork.
I also advocate for cards like Harness by Force against them. You're racing, so go to town. Depending on how devoted they are to two or one drops, I think one of our Shock variants is good on the draw.

Other notes on your deck:
What's going on with your sideboard?
I still don't get people's infatuation (everyone seems to like this card, not just you) with Arcbond. You realize that it's symmetrical, right? It's magical christmas land where the stars align and you get the blow out with this card.
I think you could fit a Fated Conflagration in your sideboard since it ups your ways to deal with Siege Rhino and Elspeth.
If you expect a lot of UW Heroic, I cannot recommend Harness by Force enough. It's also a solution to Siege Rhino.
You should still play Destructive Revelry. The enchantress decks and whip decks are still floating around and lifegain and snowballing ETB effects aren't things you want to mess with. At worst, it pops a Courser for 2. Don't leave yourself open to these decks, run 2-3 in your sideboard.
Anyway, I hope this helps with your preparation for your PTQ. Good luck beating down this weekend!
Round 1 vs. Mardu Midrange (1-2) : Won game 1, total beat down. Game 2 he was down to 1 life from X=8 Crater's Claws. No board no hand. Sorin came to save him. Game 3 he was down to 4. Sorin came in. Round 2 vs. Abzan Midrange (2-0) : He had no idea how to answer Flamewake Phoenix. I'm really impressed with its resurrection ability. Round 3 vs. Abzan Midrange (2-1) : Shaman of the Great Hunt and Flamewake Phoenix dealt the most damage. A top deck Stormbreath Dragon and resurrected Flamewake Phoenix wins it. Round 4 vs. 4-colour Midrange (0-2) : It was a greedy deck and both of my draws weren't aggro enough. At this point, I realized I did not need Mana Confluence as my cards are not that mana intensive. Round 5 vs. Abzan Midrange (1-2) : Won game 1 as he had very few threat even with Whip of Erebos in play. Lost game 2 and game 3 badly with Sorin and Wingmate Roc.
I dropped from PTQ today after 5 rounds being X-3. All in all, it was a good list but I find myself having difficulties to seal the game. Most of the time, I only manage to beat the opponent until below 5 life, and I lose gas afterwards.
Most performed card : Flamewake Phoenix and Shaman of the Great Hunt. Shaman really a great card, especially when the opponent has no board presence or your creatures outnumbered them. With 16 creatures with 4 power, its resurrection ability really puts up the pressure to the opponent.
Least performed card : Yasova Dragonclaw and Chandra, Pyromaster. I used Yasova's ability once to 'borrow' a 2/2 Vampire to kill Sorin. And Chandra really doesn't contribute much.
I think Mob Rule has potential as well, especially when we're in the losing end and either mode will allow to gain control all of their creatures and turn it into a win condition. Work well against UW Heroic too I believe as protection spells will not help them.
my instant reactoin: Less three drops, more planeswalkers in the main, 24th land due to the higher curve.
I believe I also saw this pilot play a match during the GP, and the coverage team mentioned that the only change he made to the deck was Peak Eruption to the sideboard due to the number of RW decks in the field.
Not sure what exact place, but I believe this was the highest finishing Gruul deck in the main event:
my instant reaction: A more aggressive manabase (3 Mana Confluence) - the singleton Mob Rule in the sideboard
I played in a PPTQ (not quite 50 players) on Sunday with reasonable results - I was paired up twice and won both times, so I thought I had a chance of sneaking into the top 8 ... finished 11th
I lost round 1 to a RW Heroic Deck that made top 8 and round 3 to UB Control. I'm fine with getting stomped by the Heroic player - it was surprisingly explosive; I was at 17 and declared no blocks (I could win on my next turn based on the cards in my hand as long as I didn't lose a Heir of the Wilds I had just cast) and died due to Launch the Fleet on Monastery Swiftspear and Anax and Cymede and a couple more instant speed spells targeting the legend. I felt like it was an attack for 10 or so out of desperation and gambled wrong ... I barely lost a long game 1 against the control deck when I stalled out, quickly won game 2, and mulliganed a slow 7 in game 3 into a 6 that would have probably been good enough if I had drawn some lands. Since I was greedy mulliganing due to the matchup, I probably should have just tried for a better five ... was rough to lose a matchup I feel like I'm generally a favorite to win. I won against Jeskai, Temur Ascendancy Combo (was a fun match! - lost game 2 to the combo), Mardu Midrange, and an intense match against UW Heroic piloted by one of the better local grinders (travels to Opens, GPs). An early Yasova was key to both wins against UW Heroic - he commented multiple times how it races so well against his deck and effects his decision-making; it was nice to get a win against one of the best players in central Kentucky.
I moved the third Valouros Stance to the sideboard and changed the 4th Battlefield Forge back into a Mountain for this event; this seemed fine as it helped to not almost always pay a life for the second red mana and avoided awkward early two Stance hands against non-Courser of Kruphix and non-SIege Rhino decks. It is also makes it easier to hide the white splash in game 1 when you don't need to show it to the opponent; the first Temple of Triumph can be disguised as a fifth off-color temple to most opponents (in other words, don't play Battlefield Forge unless you have to!). Running the third Temple of Triumph in the sideboard to either swap with Mana Confluence or bring in when you are either brining in a lot of the white cards or upping the curve in games 2 and 3 seemed great. I also moved a couple of the Xenagos, the Reveler back into the main to help cast Stormbreath Dragon - though it is not great against a reasonable segment of the metagame. The plan for the four drops was to almost always board the third Shaman of the Great Hunt for the third Polukranos, World Eater against aggressive decks especially on the draw. I was going to run a second Barrage of Boulders but cut one to make room for Anger of the Gods as I was hoping to blow out any Rakdos Aggro deck with cards like Bloodsoaked Champion, Tymaret, the Murder King, Flamewake Phoenix, and Ashcloud Phoenix. I probably should've just ran Magma Spray or even just stuck with Wild Slash. I also should perhaps base the choice of Outpost Siege over Chandra, Pyromaster more on whether I'm choosing to run Destructive Revelery or Back to Nature. I wanted to find room for the singleton Become Immense in the main and didn't. I also considered finding room for a pair of Gather Courage (Aaron Bairich)
Moving Forward - Major Questions for the Archetype
23 lands and 2 two-drop mana dorks versus 24 lands?
How many three drops? Which ones?
How many four drops? Which ones?
How many planeswalkers in the main? Which ones?
Are any of the splashes worth it? White offers Valorous Stance, Black offers Murderous Cut, and Blue probably pushes you beyond a splash into full-on Temur
Which of the previous questions are the most metagame dependent?
Looking over results - including the extended GP results (all of the Day 2 decklists were made available) - I see the core of the deck as:
This gets you to a 45 card maindeck - major choices eft up to the pilot to round out the deck include what other three drop (4-6 cards in most builds), what mix of four drops (4-6 cards in most builds), whether or not to run planeswalkers main and which ones (2-3 cards in most builds), whether or not to run either a 4th copy of either burn spell or some other spell (1-2 cards in most builds), and choosing between 2 Rattleclaw Mystic or another land. In other words, the deck optimal build of the deck (if there is one) is beginning to come together ...
Of course, I plan to keep refining the Barely Naya list in the near future as it feels close and suits my personal preferences.
Fanatic of Xenagos was just ok for me. I sided all of them out in many match ups. Rabblemaster is ok most of the time. We are not playing outburst to support him so I decided to cut mine. I'm going for the bigger and better plan. I'm not sure what needs to be in this slot really. Boon Satyr and Yasova put most of the deck at 2 toughness. This makes me very weak to drown in sorrow, wild slash, and lightning strikes. It does get you under Valorous Stance but they just block and indestructible instead. There are not a lot of options at this point for this slot so I guess it is a matter of preference.
Ashcloud Phoenix....I love you.....but....we need to talk. Double Red is killing me so many games. I don't if the deck was drawing bad all day or what. I mulliganed my first hand 70% of my games. Mulled to 5 twice. Ashcloud felt good in every match up. These might turn into another Xenagos (planeswalker) and an outpost seige. This would allow me to drop 2 mountains for forest. With adding 2 caryatids I may not remove them. Even though I mulligan so much I still won my matches 2-0 and the match I did lose was 1-2.
Arbor Colossus and one Polukranos is out. These will be replaced with 2 sylvan caryatid. Again sometimes my mana was really hurting me in opening hands. This will smooth it out. I will keep in ashcloud Phoenix at this time. This should stabilize my mana base better.
Whisperwood Elemental is very good. I'll be dropping a dragon for 1 more in the main. Drop Purphoros and one destructive revelry in the side for 2 whisperwoods.
Atarka, World Render is here to stay. My opponent in round wayfinder > Hornet Queen with enough to cast it the next turn. I played atarka and he was completely cold to her. He couldn't find a removal spell in 2 turns. He died with this on board: whip of erebos, 2 seige rhinos, 4 wasp tokens, queen, and caryatid. I don't know of any R/G deck that could have survived that. My last round in final game. I manifested Xenagos (god) played atarka swing for 34 (stormbreath with counter). He had on this board wingmate roc (and token), seige rhino, and fleecemane lion (monstrous). Atarka just ends the game on that turn or the next in most cases and doesn't care what your opponent's board looks like. If you cannot kill her on the spot you will lose very quickly. This deck stresses your opponent's removal. It is likely she will survive when played.
@mootown: I tried splashing white at the beginning of the season for Ajani, Mentor of Heroes and good sideboard cards.
Have you felt that Valorous Stance is the card to be splashing white for? Seems like it would be live in every matchup but Rw Aggro and Tokens.
Since the release of KTK, I went from continuing to try Jund Monsters by splashing black for Reaper of the Wilds, Murderous Cut, and Thoughtseize out of the side (which was good enough for a top 4 at an IQ the first weekend), to just Gruul Monsters that I was not very happy with at all, to barely Temur with more burn and Hordeling Outburst to support Treasure Cruise main and Negate in the side, which got me working on Purphoros, God of the Forge tokens builds, to correctly identifying that a white splash leaves you less explosive but more consistent (Chained to the Rocks main and Glare of Heresy in the side) just before the release of FRF (top 4 at an IQ with this). I took what I learned from working on the tokens deck to identify that Valorous Stance helps with the problems I was having with Monsters; it gives you a one card answer to Siege Rhino (and now Tasigur, the Golden Fang) that is cleaner than Fated Conflagration AND/OR can counter a removal spell against Abzan. Abzan has a lost a lot of market share in the last few weeks, but yes, I still think based on my personal experience that I am working towards the correct direction (for me). Against Boros or Jeskai, Stance is not very good in game 1, but I think of those games to some degree as a Goblin Rabblemaster mirror which can be saved by the indestructible mode. Stance does probably get boarded out in the match-up for games 2 and 3. This is partially why I was okay with cutting the third copy to the sideboard (and potentially from the deck now) as the preliminary results from Seville was Boros was now the most common deck in a 'winner's metagame'.
I would like to try Jund again, but it just feels like it would be a worse Abzan deck right now any time I put together a list to try - full disclosure I give up Jund before extensive testing. I basically only get to play in IQs and PPTQs right now and don't play on MTGO either. If you try my build or a Jund version out, please share your results even if they aren't favorable!
EDIT: fixed a couple other things and meant to say - Valorous Stance was clearly an upgrade over Chained to the Rocks for the deck as it is still a good tempo answer to Siege Rhino, but allows for a less Mountain intense mana-base and isn't victim to incidental enchantment hate that was picking up in popularity in the metagame
Here's a build I've been tweaking. The sideboard is highly experimental since I don't know the ins and outs of the standard metagame as of yet. I know Stormbreath is the go-to dragon in most cases but, I've really been feeling out Dromoka and just feel he's one of the most under-rated cards in standard right now. I used to run a 2/3 split with Stormbreath and Dromoka but, I wanted to try Xenagod and Atarka. Both of which, I'm pretty happy with. Xenagod really speeds up the clock and Atarka can steal a game pretty quick as well. The 9 flying creatures are great in a ground heavy meta and the recursion on the Phoenix's can really give your opponent a headache. Become Immense is kinda like Crater's Claws #3, adding 6 power for 1 mana in most cases due to the full 8 fetches.

The sideboard seems like a fine starting point. I didn't run Become Immense over a copy of Crater's Claws because I was afraid of the embarrassing late game top deck where you don't have a creature in play. Burn might win there; pump doesn't. I don't think you can justify running it as "a copy of Crater's Claws with extra versatility" - not saying it's wrong to run a copy and only run 2 Crater's Claws though.
For the white splash, is Ride Down suitable in the main ? It kinda feels like an almost Ghor-Clan Rampager from last season. I'm still thinking whether to splash black or white. Black easier access to the mana base but white offers more cards. I'm just concern for white where there will be times when Valorous Stance unable to save Stormbreath Dragon.

Already tried it and "can confirm bad" after the opponent know about it.
Sometimes not even good when the opponent doesn't know about it.
Yeah, I don't see Ride Down being good. With such high powered creatures, they're either going to chump block or block with something that's bigger/can take the hit; in either case Valorous Stance would have the same effect.

It's been running quite well and most people locally find it extremely strong, but something feels slightly off and I can't put my finger on it.
@all I've noticed recently people are siding Hornet Nest for aggro matchups and it wrecks me. Any tips on dealing with it?
I'm really debating cutting Dragonclaw as I haven't liked her at all yet. I've dropped her 3-4 times, and each time she's been quite irrelevant. Probably for another Fanatic (which I'm loving).

Updated 75.
Here are my thoughts on each for your build.

Further to this result, here are my minor adjustments:
-2 Yasova Dragonclaw
-2 Chandra, Pyromaster
-2 Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker
+1 Xenagos, God of Revels
+3 Lightning Strike or Titanic Growth
+2 Become Immense
Of course, I was thinking to make it Jund and have Murderous Cut in the main and Erebos, God of the Dead in sideboard. Of course with this, Sylvan Caryatid is a must instead of Rattleclaw Mystic. Or Naya for Valorous Stance in the main.

I ended up cutting Flamewake Phoenix since the card is really only impactful against control decks. It's just not quite fast enough of a clock.
How do you find Heir of the Wilds work for you ? I would really want that damage to pass through, hence the Flamewake Phoenix. Of course, Heir of the Wilds could stay defensive. The phoenix can't.

my instant reactoin: Less three drops, more planeswalkers in the main, 24th land due to the higher curve.

Looking over results - including the extended GP results (all of the Day 2 decklists were made available) - I see the core of the deck as:
4 Heir of the Wilds
4 Goblin Rabblemaster
4 Stormbreath Dragon
3 Crater's Claws
Have you felt that Valorous Stance is the card to be splashing white for? Seems like it would be live in every matchup but Rw Aggro and Tokens.
There will be many changes to make.

IMO, no way. COMPLETELY different direction IMO. R/W and Token variants are a LARGE section of the Meta game pie right now.
