I've been piloting G/W hyper aggro hexproof voltroning one creature at a time with lifelink and ethereal armor. Burn can't keep up, black gets worse... blue gets crushed. UWR is the only deck that consistently beats me.
Dunno... I'll continue to run it until rotation.
My sideboard commits 4 Hushwing Gryffs (which handles blue perfectly well and gives problems to other deck types too) to the mix and I love it.
Lifebane Zombie

Purpheros, God of the Forge

I'm 9 out of 10 in beating mono blue with 4 griffs and 4 skylashers SB.
I'm so close to just giving up on standard for awhile
The type of Deck I'm liable to see at ANY point while playing
Mono Blue Devotion
Mono Black Devotion
Mono Green Devotion
Rabble Red
Red White Burn
Jund Planeswalkers
Blue White Control
Black/White
Esper Control
Maybe school has been out to long but I don't know how I bring in a sideboard against all of those, the newest one is Jund Planeswalkers, Mainboarding 4 Mizzium Mortars, and sideboarding Anger of the Gods along with 4 of every removal spell they can get their hands on; My sideboard is a wreck and I don't know what to bring week to week; The 4 Skylashers stay cause Mono Blue is so bad, but it seems like I'm losing more than half my matchups with Rabble Red, and haven't beat a Jund Planeswalker deck yet.
There are some SB guides on CFB.com (Juza) and TCGplayer.com (Wescoe) that have detailed inputs on what to bring against. Its not much but at least you have an idea what cards should go in and what should come out and how to play the matchup overall.
Jund PW is tough, I'll give you that but its not unwinnable. The key here is sequencing your 1 -2 drops and proper timing on when to use Banishing Light. Post board, I bring in my Reclamation Sage to take out Courser and an additional copy of Banishing Light. Sometimes, I also bring in Boon Satyr replacing a Soldier and a Land (if I'm on the draw)
I think Rabble Red is a very good matchup, barring mana screws and all. From my experience, the key cards that you should contain early are Firefist Striker and Legion Loyalist. When they are attacking and leaving pump spell mana open, don't hesitate to throw in your creatures and block. You'll exhause their cards in the long run and just outclass their creatures. I usually bring in my lifelink cards here in Ajani Steadfast and Unflinching Courage.
What is the current thoughts on Boon Satyr Vs. Call of the Conclave? I see list without Boon's and some with and others with COC....I'm not sure I could leave off Boon's entirely (currently 3 copies), but I do see how CoC increases pressure and possibly consistency at the 2-drop spot.
I really love Boon Satyr, mainly in case I run up against the Blue/White Decks. Boon Satyr can steal a game and come out of nowhere, he doesn't block as well as the 3/3, but a couple of times i've won with EOT Boon Satyr on Loxodon Smiter drop Ajani, swing 16. Late in the game if a board is clogged he's pretty much a combat trick thats safer than most because even if your creature dies you get a 4/2 creature alone, which combined with a Caller of the Pride is still 8 they have to deal with.
It all depends on the deck your playing against I guess, if you want as much pressure early as possible then you could make an argument for the conclave, plus it doesn't get nabbed by Lifebane Zombie. It's more of a judgement call. I'm ok with the mono black matchup with Boon Satyr so I think about the use of it against the blue white control deck. Also matchups up better against the Rabble Red decks (Get's around Firefist Striker ability and can block against Legion Loyalist, though not great).
You can say that Boon Satyr is another reach tool that GW has aside from Caller of the Pride. Also, against control, I consider them as Advent of the Wurm nos 5-8. I'll pick them over Conclave any time of the day. Flash creatures are just too good to pass.
ok I've calmed down a little, To be honest I was so angry i had to leave the LGS tonight.
I took the deck out to the LGS tonight, Get paired against 2 Mono Green Devotion Decks, and 2 Mono red Aggressive Decks.
I actually BEAT both Mono Green Devotion Decks, and 1 of the Mono Red decks, the other guy I played was Mono Red, and by the time i was on my 3rd land I was at 11 life, because the deck had ..... mana issues, I'm really thinking about dropping the Plenty's all together, but they can dig you out late in the game so its a wash, i only run 2 as is.
So after we split to top 4, the First place guy gets a BYE because the second place guy drops, and of course goes "play it out" because he's at worse coming in 2nd, which first of all don't get me started on how that works, its annoying and it should be up to the 2nd and 3rd place guys to decide to split it out. Of course it's the SAME mono red player that beat me before, which leads me to my next point. I HATE and I mean HATE decks that require almost zero skill to play. The deck's entire plan was vomit out guy, vomit out guy, make target creature not block and vomit out more guys with haste. The problem is it wasn't even a game of magic, the game basically boils down to "who wins the die roll" which I lost; in the end i go 3 - 1 before split to top 4 (my games went 2 - 0 Red, 2 - 0 Green , 2 - 1 Red , 2 - 0 Green)
So in top 4 what do i go against ??? Mono Black devotion; a deck that I am almost at the point of saying requires LITTLE skill; and anyone with 2 clicks of a brain can play it.
This is how the game went
Turn 2 Pack Rat
Turn 3 Pack Rat
Turn 4 Pack Rat
Turn 5 Pack Rat + 2 mutvaults
I won the game because the guy didn't think anything through
I had
Advent of the Wurm
2 Voice of Resurgence
1 FleeceMane Lion
He swings with 4 rats leaving a mutavault back and enough mana to cast and activate it along with making another rat. So I block 2 of the Rats with the Voices to Make them 4/4's, take 8 damage from the other 2 rats, He's at 11 so I drop ajani on the Wurm for 10, swing with everything so even if he makes a rat he can only block 2 things and the 3rd is lethal.
Game 2 ....... Opening Hand No mana in 7 cards
Mull to 6
Temple of Plenty 6 cards, I figure with scry and draw i'll get there, but Nope the deck hates me. Oh and this is play (stop me if you've heard this before) Thoughtseize, Pack Rat (played with mutavault), Drop a second Mutavault make a rat, make a rat turn 3 activate mutavault, turn 4 swing with mutavaults + pack rats.
Game 3.
I have 2 land, Temple of Plenty (again) and a forest
I drop the Plenty, Turn 2 I go Expiment one Soldier of the Pantheon, Turn 3 I go to swing for 4; Ultimate price on the Experiment one, I drop Sunblade Elf one Soldier of the Panthon after swinging. His turn He bile blights both the soldiers (MAYBE my mistake for trying to get both soldiers on the field); My turn I play Fleecemane (stuck on 2 lands), his turn he lifebane zombies away voice of resurgence, I swing and trade with the Fleeceman lion; drop Another fleecemane lion(still stuck on 2 lands). Next turn he Lifebanes away a loxodon smiter (that I couldn't cast cause I was stuck on 2 lands), trades with my second fleecemane lion.
From there he just pack rats out for the win,and I'm stuck with 2 ajani caller of the prides in my hand and no way to cast them.
All in all through 3 games I think he made over 15 pack rats easily; It's just a joke how ridiculous that card is, it takes very little skill to go "lol mutavault mutavault pack rat pack rat" The worst part is that i brought in 3 Setessan Tactics!!!, and 2 witchstalkers to avoid the removal and drew none of them, and it frustrates me that the mana base didn't work out again; its frustrating, Mono Black gets Urborg and Lanowar wastes, and there's still no untapped green/white land other than Temple garden.
I love the deck don't get me wrong; probably too much so which means im too stubborn to change to something else, I just get annoyed when I get beat by a guy who literally just pack ratted every game for the win, I know normally I'm the favored one but its still SUPER frustrating, and to top it all off I can't get my revenge for a while because I start college next week on Wednesday nights. Grrrrrrrrrrrr
^^ sorry to hear! I have a bit of rat problem tonight too.. But this was a bit more rouge:
He was b/u:
Typhoid rats x 4
Pack rat x 4
Ashiok x 4
Demon x 4
Grip of removal and negate/dispel
Multivaults!!
Ended up in a draw ... But dam fast rat maker and ashiok is such a b! Tch( perfect defense for creature decks!
Whew.. My draws weren't the best, so I was ok with a draw.... But someone needs to tell the rest of my lgs that mono-blue isn't a thing anymore:)
when testing any card one must label the card to compare whether or not it would have been better as the one its replacing or not. If you remove scry lands they are more likely going to end up being straight plains or forests. What I do is put a small piece of paper in the card sleeve. You can put 'F' for forest, 'P' for plains, or whatever, then test. Things to consider, do you get color screwed more often? Are you able to play your spells on time? What is your next card and would it have helped if you could have put it on the bottom or would that information have helped you plan your turn better?
Nice job man, didn't even check it out recently I've been focused on the rotation ...... It's funny because i can't remember what event it was, but they showed you behind the Green/White aggro player when he played Reid Duke, and they were like "Bos supporting his G/W buddies like he knows whenever its playing" and it's funny cause I kind of feel we all have a bond by playing this deck, and I kind of take a little joy when Green/White tops an event or beats the odds and kills Mono Blue Devotion lol.
Which is the reason I came here; I know spoilers are just starting, but theres no way this deck doesn't kind of transform into some version of Abzan Aggro (it even goes together) right ?
I mean we know what we are losing, but still we have some what appear to be solid "replacements" in some of the spots, anyone else following the same lines of thinking that I am ? Like it almost seem's too easy to slot this up
Soldier/Sunblade/Gnarled Scarhide
Fleecemane Lion (still want a second 2 drop that does something)
Anafenza turn 3
Turn 4 Sorin to pump all your guys, or drop Abzan ascendancy to protect against removal/board wipe + pump board on top of Anafenza ?
Turn 5 Ajani Mentor of Hero's
Utter End/Banishing light as removal ......
I don't know if the mana bases work out (haha yep it definitely takes on the feel of the current g/w deck) but It all seem's pretty solid, and kind of ...... i dunno easy to just slot the new thing in for the old thing ? Granted they dont do the same things, Lox being anti-thoughtseize is nice, and No Experiment one not getting bigger every turn with regenerate stinks, and you don't have that swing for 8 or 10 in the air that happens from nowhere to steal games that it shouldnt with Ajani. However I see some ..... bastion of the G/W aggro deck living on, just with a new friend in black.
P.S. as an Ajani replacement, I thought maybe Tormented Hero Bestow, its 5 mana but gives that flying + 3 power, and your guys should be a little bigger than they were from Ana.
Thanks,
Unsure of where this deck will go post rotation.
At the WMCQ I am definitely playing the version I went 7-1 with at the SCG Invi.
After that who knows. Ajani and Voice were the cornerstones of the deck for me. Even though it was an aggro deck those cards gave you card advantage, resilience and power. With those rotating out, I honestly don't know what I am going to play next. Need to wait for the full spoilers and Honolulu to figure it out.

Nah, let it go. This deck is done as expected. We are going to see a whole new standard!
The only round I lost was when I drew 10 lands, 6 spells two games in a row. The deck was insane. I ran pretty well, but I thought the configuration was absolutely perfect for the event.
Fun little detail...
The week before the invitational, I played Reid Duke online while he is piloting the Gr Devotion deck that he got 2nd at the invitational with. It is the last match/game, we have an insane match where I ultimate Ajani twice and he has a 28/28 Polukranos, the board is a complete stall when I time out, but the turn I time out I draw my 1-of Setessan Tactics, LOL. Just needed another 30 seconds on the clock...
Turns out he was recording the match for CFB, hopefully it goes up soon.

sweet, so the aggro version is better you think? no advents?
Hmmm... Looks like G/W will still be awesome after the rotation. Looking at the fetches as a perfect replacement for shocks in standard, fine by me. Hardened Scales, Ajani (any), Mistcutters, and others... May be an excellent addition to a midrange deck. So I dunno, I think we'll still be doing either one if you'd like to stick to 2 colors. Junk's got better. Naya's fine. GW aggro, waiting to see Khan's 1-2 drops.
Voice is hard, but I've been playing aggro for a while without the Advent in main and maybe 2 in the side.
Steadfast has proven to be better in many cases to the Caller.
My concerns is the loss of Experiment One and Voice. But even there I don't use em. I've been running Standard Bogles for months now and that deck's going to be wrecked. So midrange for me, probably GWB with Utter End in place of Banishing Light.
GW are really strong together, pre and post rotation. Hardened Scales and Ajani Steadfast seems to be really powerful in a creature intensive deck.
There's the loss of Selesnya Charm which will hurt. Then GW loses Rootborn Defenses too. And Skylasher goes as well.
I'm just hoping the replacements will be worth it.
I have a deck i've been running on tappedout that the mana base is really seeming to not be too much of an Issue and that is only using cards that have been spoiled so far and cards from Theros. It's basically a G/W/B variant and that's without having a second 2 mana creature, If i can get one more 3/3 for 2 type creature or a selesnya charm type thing than the deck will be ....... nice.
Consistently gold fishing 12 + power on the board; Really remind's me of The Green/white we are running now; don't want to post it because obviously things can change, and I'm not sure how it plays against real people, but I like the base so far; and thats a 60 card deck ready to roll off the line right now. Right now the 2 most important things are the Abzan Charm, and In one of the Magic Articles someone made a wink wink about some Green Rhino Creature coming next week, I'm hoping its a Trampler along the lines of advent. I can't remember which article it was from though
Hope you guys can help me.
I really like Jadetiger's decklist and I'm thinking about use this deck at the WMCQ, just I struggle with the sideboarding.
I'm a selesnya player as well, have some experience with it, but this decklist is different than the usual selesnya decks.
How do you sideboard against:
MonoBlack variants
Jund Walkers/Jund Monsters
Green Devotion?
Thanks for the help.
traditionally I rarely sideboarded against Mono black. Mono Green you fill up on removal, banishing effects, light and priest and selesnya charm. Ajani does the rest against stalemates. Against Jund monsters I sideboard in 2 celestial flare to fight stormbreath dragon, against walkers, I honestly haven't played against them.
So i'm going to ask a somewhat weird question ........ but who created this deck ? I mean I'm assuming it was Boswell, but I never know. The reason I ask is because I only started playing Magic in the last year and don't have anywhere to turn for creating a new variant of this. Every attempt I've tried with the new set to create a deck that plays similar to this just can't get through the Sylvan Carytid/Courser of Kruphix combo.
The only thing I've seen with even The same colors out there is decks full of Sylvan/Courser themselves and become way more midrange. I think it's time to bring Polukranos back to the fold; I was just wondering what idea's anyone had to keep me squarely in my 2 favorite colors. I've tried for a week or more now with every new spoiler, and I'm obviously not a good enough deckbuilder to do it.

The deck was a Block stud and Craig Wescoe won a pro tour with it. Obviously not the same list but with the core of the deck and it evolved from there.
I only have issues against UWR control.

Turns out he was recording the match for CFB, hopefully it goes up soon.
sweet, so the aggro version is better you think? no advents?

Obviously there are still spoilers to go, but I think ultimately we end up splashing B, the deck leans more mid-range, or both.
Not to mention voice and smiter

I can't remember which article it was from though
traditionally I rarely sideboarded against Mono black. Mono Green you fill up on removal, banishing effects, light and priest and selesnya charm. Ajani does the rest against stalemates. Against Jund monsters I sideboard in 2 celestial flare to fight stormbreath dragon, against walkers, I honestly haven't played against them.
