Quick clarify cause that was confusing. Someone said I was 8-3 and outta contention and i was saying that someone went 12-4 And made top 8. So I was still in at 8-3 but needed to win out and didn't. Many of my opponents had to read my cards since I had a lot of Japanese ( call judge for oracle) or they had no idea what they were.
That seems like a ripoff. Why would anyone play that when the next spell you cast will make your opponents draw a bunch of cards? It does not even look good for mill decks.

For the record I mean creatures but brain spouted enchantments. Turns out he ha a gray merchant so I was dead anyway but still ya lol
When the commentators considered mono black a good match up I was thinking Grey Merchant makes it actually pretty bad. Did you take down many mono-black decks? You must have taken down some with that record, so maybe it isn't so bad after all.

It was a blast playing it and 13-3 was good enough to top 8 a 12-4 made it. I lost two easy matchups on day two cause I saw no blue in what seemed like forever. Any questions at all? I played zero UW or esper control on the day.
Congrats on your play sir. I have had it built since last Standard (yes I ran it even with Lily and Acidic Slimes running around), and have looked for the courage to run it again.
What do you think was the weakest card in the maindeck? What about sideboard?
Have you considered running Assemble the Legion as an alternate win condition?
Would the 3rd Selesnya Guildgate be better off as a Simic Guildgate to sure up the U?
Were two Urban Evolution too few?
What cards from BoG are you looking at adding?

Impressive showing BeanWarrior. I think that's the best showing for a Maze's End deck ever, so congrats on that. I absolutely love how confused everyone from the commentators to the judges are in the dark about the deck's details.
My only real question is, how do you feel the deck works with only two draw spells? I feel like Urban Evolution, while the best draw for this deck, needs support to keep things going, otherwise you're too dependent on the topdeck.
Also, for which matchups are Turn // Burn brought in for?

Well the best card vs this deck is mutavault and I needed a card that could take care of it but needed to able to deal with obzedat as well and turn and burn is the nuts. it can kill master of wave tokens if need be as well, and kill gods.
as far as the card draw i never like sphinx revalation at all. you had to play it way aggresivly mostly for 2 or 3 and that means that i didnt really either fog or activate mazes end and then replay it for the turn.
Divination is something i'm looking at i never really thought about azorius charm tho its not a bad idea thanks. I'll more about it all this week sometime once I finish the article.
If anyone has anymore questions about card choices thoughts on the gp and stuff please post here cause this helps me to remember to address the issues in it since i'm quite scatterbrained at times.

So, i've been trying to play Maze's End since it was released and I am happy to see it gain some attention on a GP. Congrats to its pilot for the results.
I have two questions:
Did any of you guys tried out a control version? less fog-centered and more removal-oriented on the shapes of the one that existed on PT: Dragon's Maze ??
And how do u guys deal with Asphodel ? I see the fog version having an almost perfect MU vs. MBD if it isn't for Gray Merchant, so, do we have anyway to deal with life loss? any kind of repeteable and faster lifegain perhaps?

Do you think 2 draw spells were too few?. Do u think your results would've been worse if u faced more blue-oriented control decks ?
My games were 2 byes, 1 RW aggro 2-0, 4 Color Control 2-0, MBC 2-0, MBC 2-1, MUD 1-2, MUD 2-0, MBC 1-2, MUD 0-2, MUD, 2-0, RG Monsters 2-0, MBC 1-2, RG monster 0-2, Naya 0-2.
The UW and esper control decks are the best matchups, i've gone mull to 5 on play no 3rd land till turn 7 and still one its just the auto win. 2 Draws seems fine since the deck thins so well, but I'm considering some new stuff.

This is the deck I ran tonight at Monday Night Magic... only 3 rounds because of a small turn-out (like 18 players), but the deck well exceeded my expectations. Went 3-0.
Round 1: UWR control... easy 2-0. He literally cast like 3 spells each game. And I blew him out game 1 when he tried to rev for five and I negate'd it.
Round 2: Bant control... another easy 2-0. He played Elspeth and +'d lots of times. I riot control'd, went to 30, then verdict'd. I didn't even care that he ult'd Elspeth.
Round 3: Orzhov midrange... definitely the hardest match, 2-1. Game 1 he played Soldier of the Pantheon, then turn 2, Soldier/Soldier. I couldn't keep up with the fogs... too much damage too fast. Game 2/3 he Thoughtseize'd all my draw (urban and rev) both games. I won game 2 because he drew poor and I sick-ripped a verdict to stabilize after his initial push. Game 3 I was dead on board to his Obzedat flipping on his turn [I was at 2 life and he was still at 20 life]. I won out of nowhere, swinging with 11 Assemble tokens and hitting him for 9 with crackling perimeter. (He was still at 20 because all my Assemble tokens were on chump/kill Obzedat duty before that turn, so I never swung with them.)
Loved the deck... definitely feel it needs a hair more draw though. Really want a 2nd rev and maybe a 3rd urban. Don't think I want divinations though... thoughts? Suggestions? Will DEFINITELY be running it back at FNM this week.
I personally think the spot removal version isn't strong enough. I tried it at a few points and never liked it, i was just one for one way to much, and yes my build does that as well but it does more than one for one most of the time. I guess you could swap the negates as spot removal and that could be fine. But I like the negates main. When decks realize what it is they would go for jamming PW and what not, then you negate and it just stuns em.
As far as gary just keep em off their devotion as much as possible, one for one constanly if you can or better, bring. Start fogging at like 11< life gary doesnt. Its all about keeping black symbols off the board.
That seems like a ripoff. Why would anyone play that when the next spell you cast will make your opponents draw a bunch of cards? It does not even look good for mill decks.
Negate maindeck seems pretty strong to me cause of the chance of dealing with Ashiok MD. I believe Esper MU is pretty though because of Ashiok and tends to go worse with Jace, MA. Gainsay surely helps on both cases though. Would you put in Slaughter Games on your SB?
Yes, i think on the current meta the control version is weaker, you end up getting outraced , but i personally like this one and wanted to know if someone else works on it.
If u don't mind i'm gonna try ur build on my wednesday night magic
Oh, and which cards from BNG you think are worth trying ?
Go ahead man plz test it out and lemme know what you think. I love the idea of slaugheter games but I dont like bringing in two ofs i think it makes the deck less consistent and to me a deck like this cant be that way, I know it sounds silly since I run 2 bows in the 75, but bow is great vs jace adept, and game 1 on the big off chance an ashiok gets 2 of my gates then i can mill em eventually with bow. But i've yet to have a problem with ashiok ever honestly. If i ran slaughter games i'd really want 3 out of the board so i knew i'd see it quick enough but i dont wanna shave off anything for it. or replace anything for it.
For BNG, obv i'll be testing kiora but i'm not sure how i'll like it, it really only seems strong if you play it after wrathing. and i think replacing the evolutions for her is a mistake since evolution gets you 2 lands in play and 3 cards to draw for 1 more mana. I know shes got the benefit of her getting attacked and another win con but i'm still not sure.
The white prevent 7 seems interesting and the blue wrath does too.

If you're considering azorius charm just for the card draw, and not for the bounce, quicken is superior, as it is cheaper, and can allow you to verdict or merciless eviction in their turn, also killing mutavaults, obzedats etc

i use slaughtergames in the sideboard. against MBD/MBC, garys are the first card to get nominated
I'm testing Quicken this weekend. My FNM is pretty good grounds, like 3 MBC, 3-4 MUD, its a great fnm 5 rounds decks well represented. I just hate playing against burn.

What DO you do against burn decks? avoid/lose to them?

I like the idea of a 3rd eviction, but 4 seems way too heavy. I tried 2 urbane instead of 4 divination but felt that I didn't see them enough and just ran out of fuel. I may cut a divination for a 4th dsphere main. I hope that bng makes the meta a bit slower, I will feel comfortable cutting a couple defend the hearth for more control. I know negate hits walkers, but swan song answers gods and costs less. You get a lot of people casting things into your 1 open mana.
The new two mana prevent 7 would work against burn, at least fogs their boros charms and stalls out combat.
It has been discussed. It is outclassed by cards, its only application being guarding planeswalkers from burn, which is too narrow.
After I mentioned dropping defend the hearth, this got me thinking, would it hurt to drop down to 15 fogs to squueze a 4th dsphere into the main? I really don't want to drop anything else. I considered going to 3 divination, but I really want to see 1 a game, 2 against mbd or control.

Some people add Divination on it. Azorius Charm works too and if you have the budget, Sphinx's Revelation works good as well in addition to gaining life. Although some people prefer Opportunity over it.
IMO, it's a sideboard material. So far, I find it useful for killing off gods.
