i recently sleeved this red green deck up. its purposes is to use all the fast red creatures but then be ready for a longer term game by utilizing green creatures that you see in the list should it not be winning on turn 5/6.
the deck is heavy red, but for my splashed colors I added only humans in an effort to stretch the capabilities of cavern of souls to color fix.
by turn 5 if everything your attacking with has died due to attrition or boardwipe playing kessig cagebreakers is a way to get value out of your sizable graveyard and come back from the brink.
to a certain extend I sort of expect to find cagebreakers to be safe by turn 5 as I believe most match ups you will see your opponent burning through spot removal to kill your smaller creatures.
I chose lightning mauler to be my 2cc drop in an effort to support cagebreaker, cagebreakers with haste is a huge game changing threat if you can set it up. otherwise lightning mauler runs in like any of the other 2cc drops with haste.
I couldn't find any turn 3 creature I was satisfied with so I opted for flames of the firebrand.
I'm pushing cavern of souls naming human for all its worth in an effort to support snapcaster mage flashing a searing spear and getting a 2/1 body is never a bad thing in turns 4 and beyond.

I've been watching Travis Woo stream his list and I really love pyreheart wolf. I also love 4 hellkites. I tried to combine his list ith sledgehammer, what do you guys think?
So far, it's testing pretty well. Overall, you just make it a race. You don't play around cards, you just kill them before their big threats are actually dropped.
True. I've always found Lightning Mauler a little unreliable, but maybe not so much anymore since this list includes more low-drop creatures. Definitely worth a try.
Yeah, I'm not sold on Annihilating Fire, but there isn't much else to put in for it. Perhaps Archwing Dragon, but that's spacing the curve a little far out.
How's the mana? Looks like Ash Zealot is going to be a bit tricky to cast on turn 1; you only have 12 turn 1 red sources as well...might be a bit light (IMHO).

R/u/g aggro humans? That seems a bit greedy to me partner.
Also, drop cage breakers add zealous conscripts if you can.
I think this is becoming the new RDW archetype. A lot of decks just like this (well, -1x Chainwalker, +1x Lightning Mauler) are popping up and placing pretty well on MTGO. The sideboard is a little different, I don't know if I'd run both Thunderbolts and Mizzium Mortars, Mortars typically do a better job of what we need to get done and aren't quite so narrow. I really like Archwing Dragons against control. Everything else is pretty much standard though. Hah. Standard. Get it?
But for real, these lists look good. It's nice that we've stumbled across the usefulness of Lightning Mauler.
I'm still trying to find a Super-Aggro list that curves out at 3-4.

Do you mean on turn 2? Cause Ash Zealot costs RR. I have 19 red sources, which should be enough, but I'm thinking about putting a couple caverns back in.

Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up
Thanks Zem. I included thunderbolts in my sideboard very recently because of the rising popularity of the flash decks. I've found it quite important to instant-speed kill restoration angel in that matchup. I agree it is very narrow, but as long as that matchup will be prevalent I think it is worth running. I like Archwing Dragon too and I'm looking to make space for 1 or 2, maybe cutting some bolts for it.
I think Splatter Thug is a very impressive creature to curve out on 3. He's so difficult to block profitably. Warrants testing don't you think?

We've tested a bit and he's kinda slow. Pyreheart is the only -decent- 3CMC we can find, and even he's not optimal. He's pretty good against heavier decks though. Probably an auto-inclusion if you're not running Thundermaw.
Looks pretty damn good! I think you're more than ready to test
Wow, im truly impressed with that statement, coming from the one who inspired me to play monored this season (your article about Rx agro variants is just amazing). Thanks for the words, i expect to get some notes in my next tournament so i can make a full report and tell all of you how this works
I'm still a bit confused on sideboarding strategies, specially on Tibalth, but testing will tell how he goes, after lots of theorycrafting i give him 2 slots but time will tell...

I prefer Mizzium Mortars in the side vs. Thunderbolt, because in my test games so far, I'm frequently tapped out when the Restoration Angel arrives anyway. Mizzium is more versatile.

First of all instant speed is huge. It can kill snapcaster when they flash him in, take out chumpblockers and mana dorks every day. It has flashback too, its 2 burn spells in 1. About Pillar of Flame i just hate sorcery speed, if we just get "shock" in gatecrash i will be so happy ...
About Mortars vs Thunderbolt
Why u have to use one or another ? Against UW agro i bring all of them, thunderbolt is an angel killer or a searing spear to the player wich is not bad. Mortars kill the angels, but they acompplish another task: board sweeper. We dont have pyroclasm or anything similar (the one that cost 2R and hit only not flying dudes is out of discussion, it screwes us). It can hit angels without overloading, and if u overload u take out annoying hexproof dudes (GoST im looking at you), clean the board against Selesnya Agro (for example). U dont have to choose one or another, they got similar functions, but not the same.
Well, not to sound like a broken recorder, but the point to using thunderbolt is to keep up with the meta. Right now, UWR and UW tempo decks are dominating. Thunderbolt is the only burn spell that does anything to them. It's a meta-call, that's all. I would prefer mortars any day as well, but only if geist-angel.dec stops winning so much.
