The card itself is really powerful. Here, it's just awesome. So, a 4/4 vigilance lifelink for 5? Sure. Add living weapon? Sweet. Add "it doesn't die to removal and can stay alive after your wrath effects"? I'm sold. But it would be nice to here other's opinions here. It would probably replace Sun Titan, who hasn't been too helpful without Roc Egg. It would take that out or Sword of wap because I really haven't been having stellar results with it on MWS and it rarely connects.
The second is guaranteed as a T1 deck that is really good, plus its' mana is better. I would choose #2. However, Eminem is correct, comes down to preference. Eminem was not correct, however, for tying Rihanna to the bed and setting the house on fire.
A fair bit of testing tonight. I'll keep it brief.
I don't like Rolling Temblor as much as Whipflare. I've fallen out of love with Phyrexian Rebirth. On that note, Blasphemous Act is surprisingly easy to cast against most decks. War and Peace is the sexy on Gideon, Birds, and Spirits but is hated on after side much more. Will try Batterskull as well.
Trying out Archon of Justice instead of Titans. The 6 cmc spot seems to be taboo for me.

Mainly, I cut the titans and wurmcoils (which I rarely ever cast) in favor of Batterskull and extra planeswalkers. My problem with the titans and wurmcoils was that once I cast them, I rarely wanted to use mass removal, and when I had to, I was hurt almost as much as the opponent. I decided that I would rather run more cards that are minimally affected by mass removal.
Batterskull has been a house. He provides all the lifegain I need, and can protect himself from removal if need be.
I run 4 surgical extraction and 2 nihil spellbomb for the reanimator/solar flare matchups. So far, they've been worth it. Divine offering and shatter for equipment based decks. The shrine of burning rage is something I'm testing against control - I find that control games tend to go quite long, more than enough time for shrine to build up to some hideously large damage. The extra angelic destiny is for the ramp and birthing pod decks, which often devolve into a race.

Batterskull has been a 'house for me as well. It's really been working well. If I cut Wurmcoil (which is probably inevitable), it would be for an extra Elspeth and a 1-of sword, because 2 really hasn't been working out for me.
Shrine seems like nice tech against control. Additionally, I personally switch the Extraction/Spellbomb amounts because then they can't counter spellbomb with misstep unless they have it in their hand T1. Also, you're right with the extremely long control matches, it seems like a stalemate with odds going in our favor.
EDIT: Against ramp and bpod; it's only a race if the need be, i.e. Slash Ruinator with no DoJ or Oring. But you have 7 answers for it in your deck, don't be scared.

As far as swords go, I think I'm going to cut those. They haven't done very much for me either, other than a little bit of lifegain/extra damage which is frequently no extra lifegain or damage.
One thing I want to test out is Shrine of Loyal Legions. I think I'll use it in place of SOWAP. That card looks like it would be great - use it late-game against control for one giant alpha strike, use it mid-game vs. aggro or birthing pod/ramp.
Also, it's not so much that I'm scared of Pod and Ramp, it's that I had 14 sideboard cards figured out, and I wanted to have something for the Pod and Ramp matchups, so I decided on an extra Destiny.

I think that those two shrines would be very good here. I have already took the WAP slots but I am testing the red Shrine. Thanks for your input. Are you going to play this at FNM? If so tell me how it goes.

1. Titans aren't so good. They're slow to come out, and when they do, you find yourself never wanting to cast your day of judgments.
2. Sword of war and peace isn't very good either. You just won't connect very much with it.
3. Angelic destiny is great. Run at least 3. Maybe even 4.
4. Shrine of loyal legions is also great. Run 2 for the control matchup, and supplement it with shrine of burning rage in game 2 (don't use another 2 loyal legions - burning rage will accomplish a similar effect, and will also double as removal against Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite or whatnot, since in game 2 vs. control you will take out a lot of your mass removal).
5. Batterskull is very good. It provides lifegain and can be used to always have creatures available to you after mass removal.
6. Grand abolisher in the sideboard. It shuts down permission, and provides a decent body that can be enchanted to boot. True, it doesn't gain you any value when you drop mass removal, but against a control deck, you're probably siding out a lot of mass removal anyway, so it's not a huge problem.
7. Surgical extraction vs. Nihil Spellbomb. Spellbomb is better vs. solar flare and reanimator. Extraction is better vs. any control deck that isn't graveyard dependant. I'm going 3/3 split right now, but it's dependant on your meta.
I don't have all the cards for this deck physically yet, so I probably won't test it out at this FNM unless my orders arrive early, but I will post results (if this thread is still active) after next week's FNM.

1. Tried out Bonehoard as a 2-of, which I cut down to 1-of. It really doesn't work.
2. Tried out Sylvok Lifestaff. This has been a star against everything. I also started it as a 2-of, but I want to raise it up to 3 of. Actually, I did raise it up to a 3-of.
3. Having 3 shrines mainboard is necessary for control. 2 just isn't enough.
4. Having 2 Gideons and 3 Elspeths really works wonders for consistency, I think that those are the right numbers for this deck.
5. WaP has been really good for me as a singleton, I actually love it at that number.

This plays a bit more aggressive (just because that's how I like to play), but the win-con for me is either to get Roc Egg, Batterskull, or Doomed Traveler with Angelic Destiny, using Goblin Arsonist and Perilous Myr as blockers and extra damage after Area of Effect spells. I'm getting some Wurmcoil Engines to test with as well. Played last Friday with an incomplete version of this and went 1-2, but I did not have the Angelic Destiny which are helping a ton with prelim testing (Also, yes, I'm using actual cards). Any thoughts on how to refine this idea?

Koth has been a beast in this may have to add another. It runs smooth and the only times Ive lost with it is on mana screw or mana flood or just not watching or paying attention to what I was doing.

1. Re: Koth-- I've been wanting to try him out for a while now. He seems pretty good for this in general, except that he only works on mountains andbcan prevent you from DoJing. And I don't have the space. Actually, when I put him that way, I'm not sure I want to try him out. You should try Gideon instead.
2. Re: Pheonix: Wait, what?? Your only way to deal this damage is through a playered Slagstorm. Take these out for 3 Sylvok Lifestaff (game-changing card with Traveler, Elspeth, or Loyal Legions) and a Sword of War and Peace (another game-changing card but bad here in more than 1). If you don't want the WaP, you could instead go for another Destiny, which for me has seemed bad in quantities less than three.
3. Re: Titan: Extensive testing shows that Sun Titan is a lot worse here than all of your other fatty options. You should be running Batterskull. It's amazing.
Overall, the deck seems like a good start! Keep revamping it and it'll get better and better! I would also try to find some room for Shrines. Have fun!

Tried Glint Hawk Idol? I figured it could work since it dodges board-wipes. Mayby Chimeric Mass would do the same thing.
This deck has many ways to deal with creatures that your opponent would play, but iffy stuff like Runechanters Pike + Inkmoth, Gutter Grime and stuff that flat out protects from board wipes (counterspells, Full Moon's Rise etc) seem like it would slip through.
Do you feel that you can manage to keep your hand up? Is the board-wipes just such overwhelming CA that you don't worry?
1) Shrines suck. They are worthless against aggro and control is definitely going to take out your big one while you're tapped out. You can't afford to draw dead cards against control when they're drawing extra thanks to Think Twice/Forbidden Alchemy.
2) Mimic Vat is a must. Catch something you swept away, or just keep bringing back the Titans you cast. Sun Titan grabbing Mimic Vat is a fair response to Sun Titan grabbing Phantasmal Image, especially since you can put their image under your Vat.
The only reason I'm not playing Gideon is no one is trading him and I can't really buy cards.
I like playing with Wurmcoil Engines, however I'm thinking about sideboarding them in favor of another Elspeth and Batterskull.
Also, I'm running Tremblor vs. Whipflare in the main deck because there is a lot of Tempered Steel in my meta still, so that's more of a local thing I guess.
Also, using Wurmcoil Engines instead of Rage Throwers at the moment, and I like the Engines better, but still play with RT's in sideboard.
I'll edit with current deck when I have it in front of me.

Sup, Eminem.
So, I haven't tried this deck out yet, so my suggestions may be utter bull, but these are my thoughts:
1) Take out your one-of sword for another Batterskull, since it seems somewhat lackluster, while Batterskull survives board sweepers like a boss.
2) Get 4 Shrine of Layal Legions in the mainboard, that card is unbelievable. I dunno what to take out for it, but just get 'em in there.
3) 2 Roc Egg in sideboard seems like a good idea.
4) Thoughts on Brimstone Volley? Follow up a board sweeper with this and you take a quarter of your opponents life away.

Hey.
2) If anything, I would do a 3/1 split between loyal and burning rage because 4 of loyal just doesn't work.
1) I agree with an extra Batterskull. Will test.
3) Used to have Roc Egg in SB. Don't know what happened.
4) Takes up lots of space. I've tried it before, maybe it deserves another try.
EDIT: Yah you haven't played it, but you've seen it play like a boss.

Ran my list from above at FNM split first with a Tempered Steel deck. I only dropped 1 match all night and that was to the afore mentioned Tempered Steel deck. I got mana screwed both both hands against him.He was the one that offered the draw. I roflpwnted every one else wasnt even close. My side board I feel is weakes part of my deck gonna add the surgical extractions. Replace Nevermore. Love this whole deck concept, God bless whoever created the basis for it.

Rolling Temblor is clunky. I would cut it. Also, no Gideon??? Try out 1 of him and a WaP.

Have fun!

The more you hate it, the stronger it becomes... :mad1::argh::banghead:
1) Shrines suck. They are worthless against aggro and control is definitely going to take out your big one while you're tapped out. You can't afford to draw dead cards against control when they're drawing extra thanks to Think Twice/Forbidden Alchemy.
2) Mimic Vat is a must. Catch something you swept away, or just keep bringing back the Titans you cast. Sun Titan grabbing Mimic Vat is a fair response to Sun Titan grabbing Phantasmal Image, especially since you can put their image under your Vat.

1. Glint Hawk Idol-- Oh yes I have tried it, my friend. I'm still testing.
2. Shrines-- I might test w/ timely reinforcements instead.
3. Vat-- 4 creatures in my build with GHI in.
4. Timely-- See 2.

Ah came in first at mah FNM!!! Been working great. Koth hasn't been very good for me either. I ran the 4-creature version. It works well.

Sweet! Thoughts on Rolling Tembor for temp steel, Same amount of sweepers, more effective than Whipflare here.
Thanks. It was all me
