I would drop masticore for inferno titan and maybe the hippogriff to the SB for Kuldotha phoenix. Emmisary for sylvan ranger as sylvan ranger helps fix mana right away. I would also drop suture priest for 2 more lightning bolts. I would try those changes.
Top 4 actually! This deck looks really similar to my old BG deck that failed pretty miserably so I'm surprised but happy to see it succeed. I guess people are finally realizing the power of this card, since we've now seen GB, RUG, and Bant make Top 8 in major events. If that's not a good enough argument to be moved up to Competitive I don't know what is.
I've been trying to find some alternatives to your typical top-end contenders for the 6 and 7 CMC slots for this deck. Just wondering what the community thought of Steel Hellkite or Myr Battlesphere in those top slots.
Though I see the utility of Wurmcoil Engine, (not dying easily) the sheer idea of Steel Hellkite is appealing due to the mass removal it may be able to provide. I also slapped Battlesphere in there just to see how people would react to it.
My list has run with moderate success, but I think that a lot of why I won with it was the fact that the net deckers at the shop were simply not expecting what I put in front of them at all. Basically, I've been running this.
I thought my toolkit branched out pretty far, but I just sometimes found that I didn't have the answer I needed when I needed it most. However, there are some fun shenanigans to be had when dealing with Phantasmal Image and Phyrexian Metamorph. I've had a few games where they've helped me greatly by either copying opposing players' titans, or using it to Legendary-Rule threats like Elesh Norn off of the field. Either way, I flooded with ways to copy stuff.
My sideboard is a little funky, but it's mostly meta-related stuff. (Shrivel for goblins to shut them down early, Trinket/Elixir for a few mill controls, etc.) I threw Enslave in there for playing against Titan control. Yanking their Inferno Titan is usually game every time.
Unfortunately I sold my fetchlands before they rotated to fund some other stuff.
I don't know, I think it's a solid list, but I'm really looking for some input.
I'm trying to get ready for the cycle out. Seeing as I'm about to run a BGR version, I'm about have to buy a lot of singles. I'm not trying to focus on something that's about to rotate out.
I play a current GB Pod and it's fun. Kinda slow, but still interesting. I have one main question here though:
Whats a good version for BGR that's out, with updated cards? I've read through this thread and I can't really find one that doesn't have a spark mage, or a lotus cobra.
I'll definitely be using Arc Trails, Inferno Titans, and a few more counter creature stuff. But it's been kinda difficult finding a new set up that has cards that don't rotate out.
Any help is more than appreciated. I'm gonna throw this together by next FNM, so I'm starting a bit early.
I ended up winning both the game day events I went to, but they were relatively small in size with 1-2 "good" players at each one.
I don't have any vengevine, but if I did, I'd play one MD and maybe one SB.
RUG vs Valakaut - I feel you want to race the slow hands and disrupt with land destruction whenever possible. Turn 2 Beast Within their only green source is soooooo good lulz. Then chump with Sea Gate Oracle while I dig for more CA. I have slimed + copy slime after primeval titan, then rinse and repeat making them sad face panda. I feel the odds are in their favor, but it's not unwinnable.
I'm beginning to like ponder>preordain more and more. While it seems they can dig for the same amount, with ponder you get to see that 3rd card. The option to shuffle is unique and even using fetchlands to shuffle after drawing is another option. What are your opinions on this matter?
