I don't personally like spellbomb but I suppose it's decent after a sweep. I would rather use Chimeric Mass though in addition to Idols if I really feared sweeps.

No idea if people are testing decks like this. I'm sure others have tinkered with the idea.
Possible changes right off the bat.
1. drop blue, add 3 contested and make it mono white until i get the base down a bit more.
2. Add maybe 2-3 Blade Splicer and 2-1 lands in place of preordain.
Problems i see right off the bat.
1. most weenie decks run a minimum of 28 creatures.
2. whether i keep the blue or not, i should probably run a few tezzeret's gambits to help with hands. -- two reasons,
**A. this is a slower version of tempered steel because of the higher number of dead cards (cards that really only go towards quest.)
**B. this is a slower version of white weenie because of the lower number of creatures.
--But then again, if i'm going to play gambit, i might as well play preordain/ponder instead as two cards might be two dead cards, where the third might be an answer.
I really doubt seeing this turn into a competitive deck, but it seems like a fun casual hybrid.
i would still really like to hear how people handle Solar Flare i have been surprise intercourse with that for a while now what is your gameplan and what do you sideboard in and out?
I'm liking it alot and I'm undefeated in testing thus far, but with that being said, I haven't really tested against many Tier 1 decks. Kuldotha Red and UW Control have been my most favorable matchups while BR Vampires and RDW continue to be somewhat of a problem.
Card (Negatives): Steel Overseer is an amazing card in Steel Aggro, but is often picked off before he has to chance to tap. It hurts to spend two mana (alot for this build) and get it shot in the head right away. By no means am I cutting him or anything. I'm just simply stating an opinon or viewpoint.
Card (Positives): Shrine of Loyal Legions has been an All-Star for me tonight. It helped me recover quickly, stabilize and win. Yes, it can be an Oblivion Ring target, but it's worth the risk if something goes wrong and you're forced to enter into the late game.
I just joined Salvation, and I have spent the past few hours going over this thread in detail. After making some adjustments to my deck, this is my final list:
3x Ornithopter
4x Memnite
2x Spellskite
4x Signal Pest
3x Vault Skirge
4x Phyrexian Revoker
4x Steel Overseer
Sideboard:
3x Oblivion Ring
2x Hex Parasite
3x Shrine of Loyal Legions
2x Chimeric Mass
3x Demystify
2x Celestial Purge
Explanations:
I included Gambit because I wanted draw power as well as the synergy with Overseer/Nexus. I also find Phyrexian Revoker to be very useful and I always want at least one on the board, so I have 4 maindeck.
Demystify certainly warrants an explanation. Given the meta, I find Tempered Steel, Splinter Twin, and Oblivion Ring to be very popular. Given that one turn can end the game, being one mana and an instant are my reasons for including it. I would ideally want something like Nature's claim, but it's not worth splashing green for, and I think Revoke Existence is too slow as a sorcery.
I feel like this deck can respond to almost anything, but I am trying to fit in 1 more Vault Skirge and 2 or 3 Refraction Traps in the sideboard. Any suggestions?
Also, I tend to like the speed of mono-white better. I am, however, considering a U/W version. If I do, I'll replace the Gambit with either Ponder or Preordain. Which one is better? I know this has been discussed before, but I didn't see a consensus. In addition, I would also like to have Spell Pierce in my sideboard if I do have two colors. What should I cut?
Ive played a lot of matches over the week with UW & WG and Mono White is just better, no ifs ands or buts, too often you get a land in play tapped w/ the splash colors and the additional spells you get are just not at all worth it. Contested being maindeck is sometimes a problem and lands to swap in the SB would be worth it.
Spellskite should be in the Porcelain Leggionaire slot
If your gonna face a lot of Temp Steel decks then 4x Revoke Existence.

That's why Spellskite is so invaluable to this deck. It soaks up removal from your Overseers and Tempered Steels while simultaneously improving matchups against RDW and Twin decks greatly.

Sorry for the long post, and thank you.
Demystify is an interesting sideboard choice, I think I'll test that this weekend. I tested gambit and found that the cmc was a bit too much and the proliferation isn't always useful. TS should be the only 3 drop in the deck. I eventually removed refraction trap altogether. It isn't too helpful against slagstorm if you have a full board, especially when we have access to spell pierce.
Personally i don't like the green splash because it's still a little too inconsistant. When it works it's awesome but I feel like engineering our draws with the blue splash leads to a more consistant (if a bit slower) game.
I have been trying to do this. I like what he did outside glint hawk. unless you max out your 0 drops, its just a pain. 4 preordain and only 7 blue lands is scary too. I think alot of his build is speculation. Also I think taking out ALL of the spellskite MB and only 2 in his 75 is pretty bad tech. I think I will take 1/2 out MB for ornithopters though. I was already going to do it, for speed.
I've been playing this since NPH came out. Originally I ran it mono-white but after winning 3 FNMs (minimum 30 players each) people started siding in a good deal of hate for it and I switched to u/w. After running two more FNMs Tempered Steel started getting a lot of attention on the national level and people started boarding in even more hate for it so I took a good look at it and tried to figure out the best way to focus the deck without having to go all in every time.
The idea is to basically keep the deck as streamlined as possible. There are 12 pumps, 6 cantrips and the rest is removal so I rarely have trouble keeping ahead of the other guy then instead of having my sideboard all over the place to counter various threats I tuned it to emphasize one strength over another depending on the matchup.
I swapped in two ornithopters and moved 2 spellskites to the side, then I upped the card draw and removal. Hex Parasite, Phyrexian Revoker and Etched Champion are typically cards I don't want to draw so I got rid of them in the main in favor of more cantrips, then I upped the removal to 5 to ensure that I always have one in my hand for the dreaded Splinter twin matchup. 7 blue sources seems to be the magic number for making sure I can drop preodain or ponder when I need to.
The sideboard is pretty standard. I dropped refraction traps for mental misstep because I never have trouble with the red matchup but countering the turn 1 Inquisition of Kozilek/despise/duress is crucial in the u/b matchup.

Your decks only got 58 cards
I will test this out w/ 2 more plains and see how it works with more draw.
After played for a while, I wonder what matchup do you sideboard in Shrine of Loyal Legions?
*Swarm Aggro (eg Mirror, elves): I think getting Tempered Steel and removing their lords are more important. I'd rather side in extra removals.
*RDW aggro: Shrine is way too slow. There's more effective sb cards like Firewalker or Timely Reinforcement.
*U/W: Most of the time they SB in artifact removal in addition to Oblivion Ring they already have. Shrine is likely to be killed before getting a lot of counters.
*Green decks: Can't survive Creeping corrosion.
*Valakut: Shrine is way too slow. Can't survive creeping corrosion.
I've been testing and IMO the mono-white version is the best version, it is consistent and just plays out so much faster because i stopped getting the awkward hands of glacial fortress or coast and glacial together. Also we don't gain too much from the blue splash.

I completely agree with you. Plus, Tezzeret' Gambit (also good to proliferate poison counters) and Gitaxian Probe (check for board wipers/removal) can both get us draw without splashing another color to slow us down.
*RDW aggro: Shrine is way too slow. There's more effective sb cards like Firewalker or Timely Reinforcement.
Once you stabilize with a Steel in play, you need a way to close the deal before he draws enough burn to kill you. Shrine provides that, but I'll admit I haven't tested Firewalker much since they still have Dismember and their own Shrine.
*U/W: Most of the time they SB in artifact removal in addition to Oblivion Ring they already have. Shrine is likely to be killed before getting a lot of counters.
Better that they're removing your Shrine and leaving your Steel in play, and that's worst case scenario.

Beastmaster Ascension, Lead the Stampede, maybe Nature's Claim
Ascension acts as a Tempered Steel 5-8 of sorts but at 3 mana it's pushing our curve up a bit.
also what SB's would people have for a open meta?
also i think ponder may be better over preordain.
