Generally, glint hawk should not even be run in a tempered steel deck. It has no synergy with tempered steel or steel overseer, the two most important cards in the deck.
You should probably tell that to Japanese Nationals winner Ryuuichiro Ishida.

I disagree. Glint Hawk is an effective 1 drop beater with evasion. The decks needs to be able to win even if it doesn't see Tempered Steel, G-Hawk helps that, with a bonus of surviving Creeping Corrosion and other artifact destruction.

Glint Hawk is also a dead draw after said Creeping Corrosion and most other sweepers unless you have an Opal in play.
Glint Hawk - I personally don't like it but I there are a few decks with great results that run it, including of course the Japan champion so I cannot discard this card. It's not absolutely necessary though
Replace Nexus with T.edge for Valakut: No. No and a thousand times no. Nexus is crucial to this deck, it cannot be replaced by anything. Besides, the Valakut matchup is pretty favorable in the first match. Post SB with Corrosion, Pyroclasm and Slagstorm is a little more uphill.
Creatures with cc 4+ : I wouldnt recommend them. I run 2 Blade Splicers and even then I feel like I'm pushing it. Hero of Bladehold, Lodestone Golem, Slash Panther, etc have all been tested and they have performed okay at best.
Mox Opal: Another crucial card in the deck. The deck CAN run without them but I feel like you would lose maybe 1 in 6 games because you dont have it. It allows for explosive starts that allow for early wins. It is not "okay" in this deck it is the only standard deck in which it is amazing.
You should probably tell that to Japanese Nationals winner Ryuuichiro Ishida.
So why not mention the other tempered steel deck that got top 8 and didn't run any glint hawks? Glint hawk isn't a bad card, but I think there are better options. It is definitely the worst card in the deck against sweepers that are not creeping corrosion. And it is still pretty bad against creeping corrosion, since you can't even play one if you draw it with no artifacts on the board.
The 1st can make your nut draws even better. You should favor evasion more in your creature selection.
The Tutelage gives this deck gas and is not that painful with the curve topping out at 3.
As for Origin Spellbomb. I have had several people tell me they think the spellbomb is too slow. I do not really agree. The spellbomb is there to enable metalcraft early on (for dispatch/opal). It just sits there. Your opponent will rarely ever even think about using removal on a spellbomb. Then if you find yourself with mana open later on in the game you can crack the spellbomb and get some CA from it. I think 2-3 of are worthwhile. It also ducks sweepers.
Dark Tutelage is a bit hard to run in this deck, as there's no B/W Dual Land. Relying on Mox Opal is way too risky. The chance of color screw is bigger than UW or GW builds.
And for GW build, Lead the Stampede may be better than Beastmaster, to give you protection against sweepers.
I've been running this deck a lot, and needless to say, I really think this is a very resilient and all in all AWESOME deck, it wins a lot, and is the best aggro deck I've seen since affinity. Currently, I like the UW version the most, but I'd like to try a black version with duress main instead of preordain. Could it be better? Worse? I really like unified will in the sideboard, but idk, also opinions on spellskite mainboard?
i think that if we get enemey dual lands in innistrad, the BW version with Dark Tutelage is going to be incredibly similar to the BR Vamps were seeing right now

Speaking of Glint Hawk, It's not the best idea to dismiss a card based on worse case scenario. True you could draw one after getting kicked in the nuts by Creeping Corrosion and not be able to play it, but is that the card's fault or is it your own for over-extending? You shouldn't dump your hand just because you can.
With that said, and with acknowledgement that I should have mentioned it earlier. I favor Glints in Mono-W with at least 6 of the 0 cc artifact critters and of course Mox. With that verison of the deck I want to be more aggressive than it's UW counterpart and Glint Hawk gives me that.
How is our match up against Elves? Because I didn't just get beat, I got steamrolled...four times in a row. Just couldn't beat them! Any suggestions?
6-4 with this deck now, both times slipping into top 8 in 8th place and losing in the quarterfinals. I like the deck, but it's just so picky at times.
Thankfully I don't have to deal with Elves too often in my meta, but Surgical Extraction does horrible things to the Elves deck. Past that it's all in knowing what to Dispatch and being faster than the other guy.
Tested against UB permission control tonight. The record is awful: 2-2 before sideboard. 1-2 post-sideboard.
Against better UB player, who know what to counter, what to doom blade/disfigure, this deck really have a hard time. Leave the memnite and idol and maybe skirge on the board. Counter/kill the overseer and get a timely into the roil to tempered steel or your dude to render dispatch useless. Discard your useful spells. Then cast Karn or Liliana or Wurmcoil for the win.
Seriously, how can this deck win if the first few turns is not played out lightning fast to overload opponent's removal and counterspells?
The only SB tech I can think of is celestial purge. Also O-ring to kill the planeswalkers.
The situation seems so similar to Boros after SOM before MBS -- Mulligan aggressively and Rush as hard as you can, if not, then die.
Any suggestions to this matchup?
How do you side vs. Valakut? I let a friend borrow my W Tempered Steel and after winning game 1, he dropped the next 2 games. The Pyroclasm effects were too much and he had slow hands/draws. I'm guessing Refraction Trap is needed but we didn't put that in because it was last minute.
Also he played vs. me the next round with Elves. How should he side for this matchup? I think that he also should've mulliganed against me but didn't.

Which ever one you play is really just preference.
I play the good version of the deck that doesn't use anti-synergistic cards thank you very much
And Inkmoth Nexus has 4 slots. Chances of having one in play when you draw a Glint Hawk isn't as likely as you think.
But then again the mono-white version is basically a luck-sack deck anyways so I guess it doesn't matter to gamble a bit more on Glint Hawk.
