Say WW goes first.
Turn 3 they cast a turn 3 History of Benalia
Turn 4 they cast a Benalish Marshal
(Then your turn 4 MM)
Turn 5 . . you drown.
2 Knights attack for 5+5, and the MM gets to just survive by blocking the Benalish Marshal.
If you draw 2 Murmuring Mystics, the situation at this point is way worse.
But, if they play a 2nd History of B, or 2nd Benalish Marshal, we are dead.
Murmuring Mystic seems, ah, unusual, against aggro WW.
After typing the above, I went and looked for a WW deck, just to make sure that what I call a WW is what is actually winning tournaments. The first google showed me was this. https://mtgdecks.net/Standard/boros-aggro-decklist-by-magic-guru11-784116
Yeah. That seems about right.
Same amount of land as us, and no 4+ drops (without convoke).
Control decks do tap out on turn 4 against aggro, to cast a Wrath effect. Not to cast a 1/5 Wall.
WW is faster than Mono-U, so, how is a slow, defensive, ground based creature going to be spicy against them?
Especially ones that get overrun by Venerated Loxodon, Unbreakable formation, Conclave Tribunal, and Benalish Marshal?
(That's almost their entire decklist.)
Sideboard strategy based on " *shrug* " is not the kind of advice I was expecting when you effectively, and explicitly articulated why you believe 4 cost creatures just should not be in this deck.
.
Beating Nexus is easy.
Counterspell the Guild Summit, and they lose.
I lost to Gate-Nexus last tournament, because I did not draw any counterspells.
Both of us were astonished.
*shrug*
If I literally only play the MM on my turn 4 without a single other card played til then, yea...its pretty dismal. I'd hope i countered the benalia or the marshall by then.
And yes. anything tapping out on turn 4 is prolly bad. As i already agreed it was. Also, it was in my SB and not diluting my MB as you advocate. It was just done for a fun FNM and not for the Mythic Championship. Even went as far as saying I don't recommend doing it because I did it just for a lil fun. But i did have 10 1/1 fliers at the end of turn 6, which was cool.
Back to the Izzet/Warkite thing. how many do you think? and cut what?
I like the charts with pter but there are times where i dont wanna play it cause its sorcery speed.
This is the list that I am back to. I might change the SB island out for the transmog wand tho.
I normally beat the gates decks too. Not to rough. I just haven't play against any of the nexus of gates ones so I wasn't sure if it pretty much is the same game plan.
He absolutely is a better CO holder but the Marauder gives me a lil bit extra vs drakes. Prolly a mistake but i need something to try to even that matchup cause i'll see atleast 2 every week. Maybe 3. Unless you have a better suggestion. I'm all ears.
if Drakes has 2 flying blockers, you can only disable 1 of them. most pros tend to main 3 MCH and 0 WKM. even the pre-Ravnica Allegiance builds only dipped into 2 WKM after running 4 MCH.
as for "a lil bit extra," you mean being a 2/1 body (for 2 mana?) i'd rather set up turn 1 MCH, turn 2 CO + spell pierce backup instead.
Transmogrifying Wand seems like it'd be good vs Drakes in the SB. they have few creatures and one wand can mess up three of them. they don't usually side in artifact hate too.
Always gotta consider that the pros are going up against a true meta w/ tier decks everywhere. I'm just trying to own my LGS lol. So I really only need to beat the mirror, 3 drakes, 3 white aggro and a sultai on a normal night.
You say if they have more then one flier, the marauder is useless but im pretty much dog food if they have two drakes out. And he dodges fiery cannonade that most of them play now.
The normal pro builds just suck bad against drakes. I wanted to try to shift my build a bit from dominating control so much and to give me a lil edge vs drakes mostly.
I can agree with the write up. The number of free wins is staggering but there are definitely games i squeak out and my opponent is just befuddled. The 'nerd gaming' deck is my exact MB atm. Did really well over the weekend at fnm and our showdown. Won both handily. Other mono-u player didn't show up to showdown but I beat him in FNM
I feel like this deck in good hands is pretty neigh unbeatable except against mono-red, and that's only if the mono-red player actually kills the darn one drop with a shock so it can't get curious obsessioned. I keep seeing people with Lava Coil wait for the curious to get on my bird and at that point it's way too late since I just Dive Down, and it just goes downhill from there with all their removal being countered constantly.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I actually have the forture of having my wife play mono red that SB's into cindervines and collision // colossus and those two cards mixed with the new red decks running the firebrand, red has a really strong game if you know to kill the turn 1 drop and then jam creatures.
Yeah, I think I mostly run into the mono blue steamroll in best of one in arena. Things are a lot more interesting when I go into Best of Three.

Won our standard showdown on Saturday. 3-0
Rd1 was a bye *shrug*
Rd2 was vs Azorios Angels
This was a home brew of a new player. He played a LOT of flying and lifegain. He just couldn't handle tricksters and counters.
Rd3 Mono-U mirror
Same guy as always. We are clear and away the best players that play there and also are running the best deck. I had a creatureless hand and 3 melody's. He only had one spell pierce. Was a stomping game 1.
Game 2 he got me with a double obsessed pter.
Game 3 he mulled to 5 with 0 lands and kept a 1 lander. Didn't get a 2nd.
My kid actually played in the tournament with me. Took home 3rd
I recently started main decking entrancing melody to help with shoring up my aggro matches and have to say I'm impressed. Taking even one of the early drops to your side is huge.
Also helps against tithe takers.

Going with the 1 main, 2-3 board strategy, or are you running multiple in the maindeck? The former is what I'm doing, and seems to be the popular way to run the deck right now, but I haven't tried multiples.
Also, I'll echo whoever said you should play best-of-3 with this deck if you're on Arena. In Bo1, I was struggling to do better than 50-50, but since I've been focusing on Bo3, I've gone on an 11-2 run and moving up into Platinum. That may be luck, me getting better with the deck, etc. but the matchups are just generally a lot better in the Bo3 queues.

I main board all three, but I feel it is a meta call. Hostage taker is really bad to run into and stealing back a djinn is just so worth the effort. Not to mention it seemed like a lot of folks expected negate.

The reason is the hand rigging causing massive land pockets in the best of one matches without a mulligan. I literally mulligan every game now and it works as expected.
